My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna)

Chapter 2109

Chapter 2109

I did not give it much thought and agreed right away.

Freya's ride arrived as soon as I finished getting ready. When I was at the door, Hendrix had just returned home. I asked why he came back so early, but I did not wait for his response and hurriedly hopped in Freya's car under his resentful gaze.

"That was Hendrix, wasn't it? Why didn't you tell him to tag along?" Freya glanced sideways at the villa.

"It's not necessary for men to be involved in women's affairs. Besides, he's busy. If he's not at work, how can I have the money to squander away?"

Freya nodded in agreement. "True."

Hendrix thought, "I didn't even know I was busy?"

The "Cultural City" project, as its name implied, was based on audiovisual projects by the Roberts Group. It showcased the modernization of western culture by current generations.

They blocked all modern transportations to fit the theme of the traditional city. There, we could already see people in traditional costumes and there were tourists everywhere.

The culture festival had not officially begun, but the merchants in the city had already set up their booths and basic facilities, enough to meet guests' demands.

We got out of the car and did some simple registration at the entrance. Even the security guards were dressed in traditional costumes, making me and Freya stand out like a sore thumb.

"Mommy?"

Out of the blue, Anne's voice sounded behind me. I turned around and saw her hair in a bun, donning an olive blouse, waving at me from the top of the city wall. Next to her was Josiah in an elegant white robe. He even styled his hair to fit the traditional theme and he reminded me of an ancient superhero.

If I had not turned around, I wouldn't even have noticed that the group of girls at the entrance were looking shyly at Josiah's direction, faces a shade of warm crimson.

This was not a surprising sight. Josiah's facial features were charming. His features had only gotten more appealing as he aged, something females found enchanting.

The staff led us to the gate tower. We watched the crowd below and the stunning fireworks from a bird's eye view. The scene was so vivid that it felt like we had travelled back in time.

Anne voluntarily explained the whole process to us, "All preparations are already in place. Mr. Garland helped me out a lot. On the opening day of the ceremony, a total of 99 pairs of newlyweds around the globe will have their weddings in western costumes for the cultural campaign. Also, there will be a parade around the city. By then, there will be specialized teams broadcasting it live online. I am confident that this city and this festival will be a global sensation."

As she spoke, she looked at the city she had created. I saw the same spirit in her as one I had seen in Monique when she first started her bar business.

"Well done." I walked up and placed a hand on her shoulder as I looked at the prosperous scene below us.

All of a sudden, a rowdy noise came from behind.

"Let go of her! I said let her go!"

"Neal! Neal, save me!"

Everyone turned their heads in the

direction of the screams. As expected, Aurelia and Neal were getting dragged out by security, had no idea where the two cheeky kids got themselves westerm costumes.

"Miss Moanna, these two kids had a meal here, and now they're trying to leave without paying. They're stealing merchandise as well! What should we do?"

The little kids struggled like lobsters held by their necks in the hands of the security, exclaiming, "I'm not a thief! I'm not a thief!"

Needless to say, Aurelia must have sneaked out with Neal. He must have lost his wallet on the way and couldn't pay for the meal.

Then, Neal noticed us, "Ma'am? What brings you here?"

"If I'm not here, you two will have an overnight stay at the police station." I stepped forward and explained to the security guard, "They're my kids. Charge it to the Roberts Group's account. I'll take the kids to apologize to the merchants. I'll take it from here."

Though Aurelia had gained her freedom, she was absolutely fuming. "Mom, I called you earlier, but you ignored me! And now I've been wrongfully blamed!"

I looked at Neal, bewildered. I'd never felt so wronged.

Neal widened his eyes and nodded as he agreed with her, "That's true, Ma'am. We saw you earlier, but you did not hear us. You left your wallet and Aurelia behind."

"Are you sure? You must have

mistaken me for someone else." Goodness gracious, I was brought to the city gate tower as soon as I had arrived. I'd yet been anywhere else.

Neal insisted, "It can't be. That person looked exactly like you!"
