Chapter 2027
Chapter 2027
Hendrix didn't react to anything Jordan had said. He just looked down and seemed to be thinking deeply.
I knew him long enough to know all of his quirks. It seemed like he already had a plan in mind but was keeping it to himself. All we could do was wait and see how things unfold.
He had developed this habit during the twenty years he spent on getting revenge on Nathan and his wife. He had slightly changed after we met but unfortunately this old habit of his returned, especially after losing his memory and after going through hypnosis. His old temperament and habits had returned.
People needed time to change their habits. I gently nudged his arm and asked, "Have you thought of something?"
Hendrix turned and looked at me, he was surprised at first but then calmed down. He whispered, "Since we were nice the entire time, we'll have to continue doing so. We'll play along and take his bait. Let's return to the company as soon as possible."
I was glad to know we both thought the same thing. Fortunately that hypnosis treatment didn't remove his ten years of tacit thinking.
I smiled and held on tightly to Hendrix's arm.
"Someone, please save me." Aaron held his forehead, "Can someone please take me away from this place? I can't stand it anymore."
Aurelia didn't understand her uncle's sarcastic joke. She leaned her small head to one side and asked, looking pretty concerned, "Uncle Aaron, are you okay? I'm not feeling so good either. Just puke it out!"
After everything that happened with Anne, I had grown worried about Aurelia, so I quickly asked, "Aurelia, you're not feeling well? Where does it hurt? Come on, tell me."
Aurelia shook her head and then said innocently, "No, it's just the smell from that place earlier, I don't like it"
I knew right away that she was talking about Jordan's gallery. The paintings did have a strange smell about them, but things were much better after they dried up. The paintings would have undergone some special maintenance under professional care so it wouldn't be that obvious when on display. But I didn't expect Aurelia to be so sensitive to it.
No wonder Hendrix took Aurelia out from the gallery. He must have noticed that there was something wrong with her.
I looked at Hendrix, he then said mildly, "She was slightly allergic to the paint, but don't worry, she didn't touch them, she'll be fine."
I was stunned for a moment. I didn't expect him to be so considerate about Aurelia.
But now that I'm thinking about it, why did Hendrix buy that painting when he knew Aurelia was allergic to it?
Hendrix noticed my look of

I thought, since Aurelia was fine, I didn't have to ask.

Hendrix then gave Evan an order, "Let's head over to the Golden Roof Restaurant before we get home."
It was Aurelia's favorite restaurant and she became very happy when she heard the name, "Yay! I want to eat all of their cakes!"
She then turned to me and looked quite sad, "Mommy, are we going to leave Wynn all alone to eat by himself?"
It was just one meal and boys

I was about to explain this to Aurelia when Hendrix spoke, "We'll go to his school and pick Wynn up then."
"Yay! Daddy, you're the best! I love you!" Aurelia clapped her hands happily.
As Evan crossed a junction, he answered Hendrix and quickly turned the car. They were now heading over to Wynn's school.

looked at the expression on his face. It somehow gave him the feeling of a man who had ignored his work and spent all his time and energy just to make his precious daughter smile.
