Chapter 2019
Chapter 2019
Given the development of events, both businessmen could be seen as equally fierce and ambitious. They both shared a very powerful eye contact with each other and I couldn't tell who had the upper hand.
Even so, Aaron behaved aggressively, "Since you mentioned that you knew about this, does that mean you're the one who did it?"
Despite me being at a loss, I could hear the sharp, cold tone he had in his question. I quickly asked to find out what exactly was happening, "What do you mean? Can one of you just start explaining and stop making me guess?"NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.
Aaron suppressed his anger and explained, "This man whom you're falling head over heels for just overstepped my informants at Jarold City and sent someone to deliver a letter to Mesville. The letter said that you and the children were hoping to settle down in the country and would like to invite the elders over to talk about it. What a joke! They're planning to use them to threaten us! How despicable!"
He was so angry, he gritted his teeth.
Basically, someone was trying to use Hendrix's and my name to swindle the elders and then imprison them as hostages to threaten us.
Anyhow, the person who did this must be well prepared.
I had spent a lot of effort on this after waking up from my coma, but was only able to resolves issues within the country I was in. This person was quick to react and had even reach out to Mesville in such a short time.
If it weren't for the fact that Aaron was much more vigilant than before, we would probably have fallen into another trap.
But this time, I didn't have any doubts about Hendrix.
As I looked at Aaron, who still looked doubtful, I then stretched out my hand and held onto Hendrix, trying to express my stance, "Aaron, I believe it wasn't Hendrix, this must be a misunderstanding."
Aaron took a deep breath and looked at me with disappointment, "He admitted to everything, didn't you hear him? Arianna, wake up, you should know that love isn't everything. You've already died once, why can't you think straight?"
Even though I knew he cared about me, I wanted to stand my ground this time.
I held Hendrix's hand even tighter, smiled bitterly and said to myself, "Exactly, I died once before so
I now know how valuable Hendrix is to me. He gave up his pride, dignity and chose to be with me."
After a brief pause, I continued,
าวเ
"Aaron, you have no idea what Hendrix went through to become who he is today. Even though Nathan and his wife are to blame here, Hendrix still trained himself throughout his 20 years of revenge to become someone devoid of emotions, just like a cold blooded machine. In these six years, this personality and the influence of his family forced him to completely ignore me."
After saying all of that, my eyes filled with tears. I turned around and smiled at Hendrix, "No matter what, Hendrix will never let anyone control him. He's bad-tempered anyway. Otherwise, someone else would have been his wife by now."
Hendrix listened carefully and a smile gradually appeared on his face. He was gentle as he tightly held onto my hand.
Aaron couldn't stand looking at us,
he stood up and said in a
condescending tone, "I don't have time to watch you two being all lovey-dovey. Anyway, I've already sent someone to investigate this. Hendrix, if you happen to be the person behind all of this, don't blame me for what I'll do to you."
Hendrix turned around slowly, "Aaron, calm down, you don't have to be so agitated, I never admitted that I was the one who did it anyway."
Aaron's face screwed up even more. He stared at him angrily and was expecting him to give an explanation.
Hendrix squeezed my hand and
rubbed my fingers with his thumb.
He observed his movements and
said slowly, "Clever hunters often et
appear as prey. I did send someone to Mesville and invited several elders over. But they weren't meant to be hostages, instead, I'm using them as bait."
He touched the back of my hand lightly.
It felt tingly.
And somehow, exciting.
