My Most Precious Human

Uncomfortable truth

Uncomfortable truth

After an additional hour of conversation with Draven, he agreed for us to start with a more friendly and

less physical relationship. I was relieved by his sudden change. It put less pressure on us and allowed

things to move at their own pace. I shoved away an urge to make Draven talk about his relationship

with Jetta. I did it for my own sake… and because I knew she was in my group, and I would have plenty

of time to observe her behavior towards Draven. Certainly, I was suspicious, but I got tired of

unnecessary drama in my life.

The next morning, Draven organized training on the grounds, where I could see the entire army

working out. Draven assigned himself as my sparring partner. He did it as clearly as he could,

announcing it aloud while wrapping his arm around my shoulder. Thankfully, Patrick was training his

soldiers elsewhere. I bet he would burst out if he saw Draven acting the way he did…

I stopped pushing Draven away. I decided to wholeheartedly give him a chance, but at the same time, I

didn't want to find excuses for him once he'd screwed something up again. My heart was slowly

reacting to the tiny things he did, but I was yet to be able to name what I felt.

Draven and I put on a show for everyone to see. I must admit that I felt proud of myself and satisfied

when the whole elite squad cheered for me, applauding my fighting skills. It gave me the boost of

energy that I needed for an amazingly long time.

"It's incredible! You can actually keep up with Alpha!" Raiden called out with his eyes wide open when

we stopped our little match.

"She almost defeated my wolf previously," Draven claimed, smirking.

"You fought Alpha's wolf?!" A red-haired she-wolf gasped violently.

"Well, yes, I did," I answered, forming a nervous smile on my face.

"Wow!" she exclaimed, jumping in place. "Teach me!" She grabbed my hands, locking her sparkling

blue eyes on me.

My smile turned from nervous to awkward. I looked at Draven, hoping he would give me a hand in this

situation, but he only chuckled.

"Chloe, let the girl breathe, will ya?" Raiden patted the red-haired on the shoulder. "Maybe Lilith could

teach you something once we win the war." He winked at me.

Chloe kept staring into my eyes with an agitated grin on her face. "At least tell me that you're in my

group. Please?" She waved her adorable long lashes.

"She's in Alpha's group," Jetta tossed angrily, suddenly appearing beside me. "You can keep dreaming,

Chloe. Alpha made her an elite," she sneered, casting a meaningful glance at me.

Jetta was truly getting on my nerves. Whatever she did or said sounded like an offense. I seriously

wanted to punch her. I stretched my lips into a smile while giving her a cold stare, then my eyes turned

to Chloe.

"I will gladly help you out if Alpha agrees," I smiled at her and looked at Draven.

He nodded, and Chloe instantly threw her arms around me. "Great! You're the best, Lilith!"

Her enthusiasm nearly choked me. I had to push her away to control her excitement.

"Sorry," she giggled, bowing apologetically, and then she ran somewhere, called by her group's leader.

Jetta looked me up and down and clicked her tongue. I was sick and tired of her attitude. I wasn't going

to tolerate her ridiculous behavior, and I knew I could either let her know now or burst out with it

somewhere during the battle.

I took a step towards her. "Is there a reason why you hate me, Jetta?" I hissed through a cold smile.

She scoffed, "I just hate people trying to take a place that doesn't belong to them."

"I'm not taking anyone's place." I spread my arms, annoyed by her baseless accusations.

"Do you think you could ever become a werewolf Queen?" She burst into vicious laughter.

"I've never wanted to-"

"You will never be accepted! A human will never be able to become Queen or Luna! You should go

back to where you came from, vampire whore!"

I punched her. I let my anger get the best of me, and I hit the left side of her jaw with my fist. Jetta

swayed and then collapsed to her knees. I heard growls and gasps around me.

"Lilith!" Draven jerked my hand, turning me to face him. Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

He looked at me with fury in his eyes, as if I was the one who did something wrong. Then I saw him

looking at Jetta, his eyes filled with concern. My blood boiled. I twisted my hand to release it from

Draven's grip.

"If you don't want your precious mutt to get hurt, you'd better keep her away from me." I made sure that

the rage in my eyes confirmed that I meant every word. "I will not tolerate anyone disrespecting me,

especially some bitch who tries to get into your bed."

"Lilith, stop it… Be reasonable." His voice became softer, but not any less irritating.

"Reasonable?" I chuckled sarcastically. "You know, a guy who tries to get a girl picks her side and not

the side of someone who appears to be his lover. That is called being reasonable." I glared at him, then

turned around and started heading back towards the mansion.

He ran after me, growling in anger. It took him a second to block my way. A second later, I was tossed

over his shoulder, and he rushed to the mansion, carrying me like a sack of potatoes. I shouted,

struggled, writhed, and banged him with my fists, but nothing worked. He held me tight, using so much

strength that it hurt the more I tried to fight him. In the position I hung, my chances were equal to those

of a Chihuahua going against a Rottweiler.

"Let me go!" I roared.

"Stay still, or I will spank you," he hissed.

I surrendered, temporarily, reluctantly watching the amusement in the eyes of those Draven passed by

on the way.

"Where the hell are you taking me?!" I snarled.

"Quiet." His commanding voice sent vibrations through my whole body.

I frowned, but my self-preservation mechanism told me to shut up just to avoid Draven doing something

to humiliate me even more.

He opened the door of the mansion with an angry slam and then ran up the stairs straight to his room.

He entered with a kick and threw me on his bed. Panicked, I crawled back against the wall, without

knowing what he was planning to do. I watched him carefully while he locked his door and heaved a

long, filled with frustration sigh. I swallowed, my eyes following him as he walked circles around the

room without saying a word. Suddenly, he sat on the bed, locking his eyes on me.

"The thing between me and Jetta is complicated," he started, clenching his teeth. "I owe her a lot…"

His warm gaze when he mentioned her name pissed me even more. The blood in my veins was

starting to boil, and I was ready to risk hitting Draven, just to wipe that expression off his face.

"Draven…" I sighed, fisting my hands to conceal my anger. "Do you genuinely feel the mate-bond when

you look at me?"

"Yes," he replied without hesitation.

"And yet, you are going to tolerate Jetta's being a spoiled brat instead of taking the side of your mate?"

I asked, hardly keeping my composure.

"Lilith, it's just com-"

"Complicated, right?" I finished, annoyance hearable in my tone. "Tell me then, why do I need to suffer

from her insults because of something between you two?"

"I know she went too far. I'm sorry for that." Draven lowered his head, acting like a scolded schoolboy.

"Seriously?" I raised my eyebrows. "I don't need you to be sorry. I needed you to be there for me, or if

you can't do it, then you shouldn't interfere!" I snapped.

"Oh, come on! You are much stronger than she is!" he blurted.

"Are you for real?! She is a wolf, and I am a human, but if she is as weak as you say, the more she

shouldn't provoke me!" I raged and then exhaled, cursing under my breath.

"Lilith…" He grabbed my hands and pulled me closer. "Jetta and I have a history together…"

"I bet you do," I scoffed, taking my hands away from him. "It must have been that "history" of yours that

made her come to your bedroom in the middle of the night."

"It's not the way you think!" Draven yelled.

"Then tell me what the hell she has on you?!" I burst out.

"I killed her sister!" he bellowed.

I flinched, then stayed still, processing his words. "What?" I murmured, staring blankly at him.

Pain overfilled his eyes. I could see that recalling what had happened was eating him alive. His

distorted expression squeezed my chest, but I needed to fully understand what was bonding Jetta and

him.

"How?" I muttered hesitantly.

He swallowed, restoring his calm. "When my father was murdered, and I became an Alpha, I was filled

with rage and sought vengeance. I mobilized every pack member to go against the Southern Woods

Pack. Jetta's sister, Jade, was the leader of my intelligence group. She decided to follow the hunch on

her own, and she got herself caught…" He took a deep breath as if he was struggling to finish the story.

"Those fucking bastards sent back her head with her eyes gouged out, and a card stuck to her

forehead, saying, ‘She wanted to see too much.’"

I gasped and covered my mouth with my hand. I shivered. I felt sick. I began to understand that Jetta

had at least one rational reason to hate me…

"It's all because of my father… again…" A wide stream of tears flooded my cheeks. "Her sister, and

your father… They were killed by my parents' pack…" I mumbled, swallowing salty drops, "You should

have hated me too…"

Draven pulled me close and locked me in his tight embrace. "I never could have hated you. You are my

mate, remember? You were born to become mine." He kissed my forehead and brushed the tears off

my cheeks.

"I must be the worst mate any werewolf could have… Not only can't I feel the bond, but my heart is still

filled with somebody else," I smiled ironically.

"Don't worry," Draven chuckled. "I'm planning to change that."

I stayed in his embrace until my tears stopped falling and my heart stopped racing. After our… "talk", I

thought I could understand Draven a little better. Certainly, that didn't make me like Jetta, but I disliked

her a little less than before. Although I didn't regret punching her.

I walked back to my room, composed and ready to pack my things before leaving for war, but once I

closed the door to my room, my whole body started to tremble. It was that scent again and the remains

of an aura so intimidating it made me struggle to take another breath. My eyes immediately turned to

my pillow. I cringed at seeing a black rose lying there. I stepped closer and saw a note underneath the

flower. I took a deep breath before I found the courage to pick it up. I exhaled hysterically, seeing JD's

handwriting.

The note said, "Should I kill that little bitch with golden eyes, or do you want to do it yourself?"
