Chapter 54
Chapter 54
Yafe did not mind that at all.
After that, Malcolm and Logan were ushered to the main table by the
subordinate and took their seats.
Logan humbly let Malcolm take the center seat while he sat on his
right.
At that moment, many from the high society of Drunham City were
abuzz.
“Have you heard? The Walkers were destroyed by a mysterious man last night.”
“Are you only learning that now? I went to have a look last night. The Walkers’ bodyguards were all dead. The floor was covered in blood. The place just looks…”
“That’s terrible. The Walkers had stood strong in Drunham City for years. The person who could eliminate them overnight must be something else!”
Logan heard the discussion as he sat next to Malcolm. There was a glint in his eyes that only appeared briefly.
Before he could ask, the others sitting at their table could not help but
beat him to the punch. “Mr. Lynch! What happened to the Walkers? They were actually wiped out overnight. I heard the mysterious person is from the military and is extraordinarily capable. I also
heard that he has a strong connection to the families in Athenapolis. Is that
true?”
“He’s right, Mr. Lynch. A huge family like the Walkers was eliminated just like that. Tell us more about it. It has struck fear in all of us in
Drunham City.”
Malcolm was not in a hurry to answer all of their questions.
He calmly picked up his glass and took a sip before he said, “I don’t know too much about this too. It’s my subordinates who are handling it. You’ll find out the details when the report comes out once the investigation is over.
He added, “Please don’t worry. Whatever the crimes the Walkers have committed has nothing to do with all of you. You just have to carry on with your business with peace of mind.”
Everyone was sensible enough to stop pressing on after they heard.
Malcom’s answer.
Logan had a complicated gaze as he calmed himself down He
whispered to Malcolm, trying to make small talk, “Mr. Lynch, I got word that the Carsons from Athenapolis have already found out
about the end of the Walkers. The stakes involved between families
are huge. I’m afraid things are on our end.
A frosty glint gleamed in Malcolm’s eyes as he looked at Logan. He was still smiling casually as he said. “You don’t have to worry about that, Mr. Abbott. What happens in Drunham City will be handled by the city. That big shot probably wouldn’t let the Carsons be if they dared. Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
to meddle in this city.”
Logan understood what Malcolm was implying. He frowned a little. and pondered for a moment. Then, he smiled without continuing the topic any further.
Right at that moment, the banquet hall erupted in applause.
Cheryl looked like an angel in a white wedding dress, holding the arms of a handsome man. She slowly walked down the spiral staircase on
the side of the hall and went on the stage on the first floor.
Everyone below the stage was abuzz Some were jealous and envious, while some were reluctant to accept this. However, the majority of them were unhappy that the Stones’ social status was about to rise. They were no longer the small family following behind the Walkers anymore.
Cheryl was staring at everyone under the stage. She lifted her dress and walked up to the podium.
The man next to her thoughtfully straightened the hem of her dress for her.
Cheryl smiled at the man bashfully and said gently, “Welcome to the engagement party for Patrick Hughes and myself. I’m very lucky to have met this man who loves me. And I love him too.”
Right at that moment, a jarring voice could be heard coming from the door.
“Liam and Celena Coles from Drunham City!”
