In this situation, it was not just about whether Natalie was willing to leave. She couldn’t make things difficult for Austin. After all, she was just a small employee, and it was not worth damaging the harmony between him and his mother because of her.

“So, you resigned?” Skylar noticed that Natalie still seemed down.

Natalie nodded. “I submitted my resignation letter this morning.” But Austin wasn’t there, so after speaking to Hank, she left.

Since Austin’s mother wanted Natalie to leave immediately, she left in a hurry and even told Hank to forgo her pay for the month.

It was really inappropriate to leave in such a rush. She could have at least stayed until they found someone to replace her.

Skylar picked up a nearby bottle of beer. “Alright, I’ll drink with

you.”

“You better not. Didn’t you drive here?” Natalie took the bottle from Skylar’s hand.

Seeing this, Skylar grabbed a chicken wing instead. “Any plans for the future?”

Natalie shook her head. “No idea for now. I’ll think about it tomorrow.”

As soon as she finished speaking, the doorbell rang. Natalie looked at Skylar before saying, “I didn’t invite anyone else.”

She only wanted to confide in Skylar, but she got up and walked to the door, opening it

directly.

“Who is it?” she asked with a hint of alcohol in her breath.

At the same time, she saw who was standing at the door. It sobered her up immediately. “You

Do you need something?” Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org

Skylar followed Natalie to the door. As soon as the door was opened, she saw who was outside.

She was surprised to see Jeremy there.

“Have you been drinking?” Jeremy asked in return.

It was obvious that Natalie had been drinking. Her cheeks were flushed, and her gaze had a slightly dreamy look. Plus, she had the smell of alcohol on her from drinking so much.

“Yeah, a little,” Natalie admitted.

Jeremy frowned and asked, “Why are you drinking?”

“No reason. Just felt like drinking because I was in a good mood. Do you need something? If not, I’ll go back to drinking and chatting with Skye.” Natalie was starting to lose her patience.

It had always been like this. Since she was young, Jeremy’s frown meant he disapproved of her

actions.

When they were still together, she didn’t mind listening to him. But now, what right did he have? They were divorced, so why couldn’t they just mind their own business?

It was only then that Jeremy noticed Skylar’s presence.

So, he nodded to her. “Alright, I won’t disturb you two. Carry on.”

He didn’t mention why he came to find Natalie and left directly.

Natalie, with her slow reaction due to her drunkenness, finally realized what was happening. Then, she shut the door quickly.

After that, she turned to Skylar and said, “Jeremy hadn’t contacted me in a while. So, I didn’t know why he came today. But whatever, he didn’t say anything anyway.”
