Skylar nodded. With Lizzie accompanying her, she examined all the items.
After finishing her inspection, she paused for a few minutes before asking Lizzie, “There’s nothing wrong here. Your father’s collection of antiques seems genuine. Has your brother kept any personal items with him, like emerald pendants or bracelets and rings?” Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Having reviewed the layout of Herman’s room earlier, she hadn’t noticed anything out of the ordinary. Lizzie thought for a moment before shaking her head. “I don’t recall anything specific. He’s worn long sleeves and pants regardless of the season for the past years.
“It seems he never had the habit of wearing emerald pendants. The most he would wear is a wristwatch.”
Skylar nodded. “Then let’s ask your parents.”
“Sure, they know more about my brother’s situation.” Just as the two were about to enter the elevator to head downstairs, they suddenly heard piercing screams.
The screams were desperate, as if someone had encountered something terrifying. The chilling sound tightened their chests.
Lizzie turned pale. “It’s Herman.”
Skylar’s expression darkened. “Has he often screamed like this before?”
“It’s only been happening recently, but it’s rare. He hadn’t done this in the past few days. I can’t believe he’s screaming again today. Every time he screams like that, he threatens to end his life.” Lizzie was anxious, eager to rush downstairs.
Skylar didn’t say anything more. She felt an uneasy sense of foreboding. According to Lizzie and Paul’s descriptions of Herman, he was a strong individual, not easily affected by setbacks or prone to mental illness.
Even with a psychologist’s intervention, there seemed to be no improvement. Under such circumstances, it seemed that a negative item might be influencing him.
However, she had just placed a talisman by Herman’s door, which should have reduced the negative item’s influence. Yet, Herman was still screaming in panic, leaving her feeling
perplexed.
With these thoughts swirling in her mind, she headed downstairs.
Both Carl and Winona were present, their faces pale with fear as two maids struggled to hold back the frantic and screaming Herman. Paul stood nearby, completely stunned by the scene unfolding before him.
Skylar understood the impact of Herman’s wild behavior on Paul, as they had known each
other for a long time. The drastic change in Herman was unimaginable. He seemed like a completely different person.

With the maids restraining him, Herman gradually lost strength, stopped harming himself, and eventually fainted.
This scene made Carl and Winona’s hearts race, their eyes turning red with worry. Winona, in particular, would have collapsed to the floor if Lizzie hadn’t held her up.
Carl was the first to regain his composure. He looked at Skylar, sighed helplessly, and said, Did this frighten you? He… sometimes behaves like this. We wonder if it’s right to intervene or if we should let him go and find peace.”
“Dad, don’t say that. He wouldn’t want this. He has never caused us worry before, has he?” Lizzie replied.
Winona sighed and added, “I just hope he wakes up soon. We can’t handle this much longer.”
Lizzie glanced at Skylar, recalling her earlier question. She immediately asked, “Dad, Mom, does Herman have anything on him, like pendants, bracelets, or rings?”
Winona shook her head. “I haven’t paid much attention. It doesn’t seem like he has anything.”
Just as Carl was about to shake his head as well, a realization struck him. “About a year and a half ago, he bought a crescent–shaped emerald pendant abroad. He always wore it, and the
maid tried to remove it when Herman wanted to shower, but he refused. After that, no one thought much of it.”
Skylar muttered, “A crescent–shaped emerald pendant?”
