Chapter 1559: Inflicting Wounds
Chapter 1559: Inflicting Wounds
Sienna had just landed when Rex received a call from Ayan, questioning the whereabouts of Camille.
Neither Sienna nor Rex knew where Camille had gone, but it was evident that Ayan and Rex were skeptical. Their suspicions were confirmed when Camille appeared on the trending news with another man, leaving Sienna feeling as if her brain was on fire.
Upon hearing Sienna's anxious voice, Camille quickly explained, "I came to Dane City for a business trip!"
Sienna was taken aback, "Weren't you supposed to leave today? Why did you go to Dane City yesterday?"
Camille didn't answer directly, only saying, "Maybe I was bored!"
Sienna exclaimed, "And you chose to make the news with Jordan because you were bored? Now everyone is spreading rumors that Jordan is a third party. Ayan must be going crazy. He's been calling us, suspecting that something is going on between you and me. We just arrived in Bali, and honestly, I'm starting to fear that Ayan might do something irrational."
Camille whispered, "He won't."
After Camille's response, silence filled the air. Sienna asked softly, "Did you two really have a fight?"
Camille murmured a low "hm," and then there was no sound at all.
Sienna didn't know what else to say. She remained briefly silent before whispering, "Cami, should I come back now and be with you?"
Camille immediately replied, "Don't talk nonsense! Go and take your wedding photos. We just had a fight; nothing really serious happened."
Even though Camille said that, Sienna still felt worried. She said, "Cami, no matter what happens, remember to call me first. My phone is on 24/7."
Camille acknowledged it, and Sienna didn't continue the conversation because Ayan probably hadn't contacted Camille yet. She wanted Camille to reach out to Ayan to alleviate any concerns. Less than a minute after ending the call with Sienna, Camille's phone rang again.
During that minute, she replied to Talia's message, reassuring her not to worry. As for the online video, Camille didn't explain much, and Talia didn't ask further. Talia wouldn't interfere too much in this matter; she would leave it to Camille and Ayan to resolve.
The second call was, of course, from Ayan.
Seeing his name on the screen, Camille hesitated to answer immediately. What should she say if she picked up? Would he directly question her about being with Jordan?
Camille was troubled, and her emotions worsened. The female bodyguard beside her quickly reassured, "Miss Armstrong, there's no need for you to worry. Rumors like these happen every day, and once the heat dies down, everything will be fine."
Camille forced a faint smile, her voice growing hoarse, "Thank you for reminding me."
Camille asked the female bodyguard to book another room, as it felt uncomfortable for two people to stay together in a single room. A room nearby would be sufficient.
The bodyguard went downstairs to arrange it, and Camille finally answered the call.
After picking up the phone, Camille remained silent. The man on the other end also didn't speak. The atmosphere became exceptionally quiet, as if they could clearly hear each other's breaths.
Camille pursed her lips lightly, and after a few seconds of silence, she calmly said, "Do you have something to say? If you don't, then hang up!"
Since there was nothing to say, there was no point in continuing the call, right?
Camille took a deep breath, and her mood became increasingly heavy with each passing word. She repeatedly reminded herself to stay calm, but when facing the reality, it was impossible to remain composed.
After Camille's words, the
atmosphere became even heavier
than before. If there was a third person listening to their
conversation at this moment, they would surely feel like the weather below freezing, mixed with shattered
ice that made it hard to take a
breath.
Her words were sharp and seemed capable of directly piercing through people, causing Ayan on the other end of the phone to chuckle in frustration. In a deep voice, he asked, "Don't you have anything you want to tell me?"
"Wasn't it you who called?" Since he made the call, it should be him who had something to say, shouldn't it?
Ayan replied, "Are you trying to pick a fight with me now?"
"I'm not trying to fight with you. It's just that you called and didn't say anything, so I don't know what you mean!"
"What about you and Jordan? Don't you have anything to say to me about that?"NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
"I have nothing to say. The incident did happen, and I said everything I needed to say since I was the one who took the cake up there," Camille said indifferently.
In fact, she didn't have much to explain about the matter because there really wasn't anything to explain.
The atmosphere between the two stiffened during the call, and after Camille's words, Ayan's voice also paused. After two or three seconds, Ayan's voice broke the silence, "Why did you suddenly go to Dane City without telling me?"
"You didn't tell me when you went on a business trip either, and I still don't know which city you went to or what you were doing there," Camille replied in a cold, icy tone, devoid of any warmth. After her indifferent response, she didn't continue speaking.
Ayan began to explain, "The
business trip to Campole was a last-minute decision. Weren't you angry with me then? I hadn't figured out why you were upset and had to go on a sudden business trip, so I thought I would talk to you properly after I returned. When you called me, I was in a meeting, and the matter was urgent, so I couldn't answer."
Later, when he returned the call, she didn't pick up. He thought she didn't want to answer because she was angry. He didn't continue calling after that and little did he know she had secretly gone to Dane City without even bringing a bodyguard, and then this incident happened. If he hadn't seen the video of her delivering a cake to Jordan exposed on the internet, he wouldn't have known she was already in Dane City.
Ayan's explanation eased the tension in the atmosphere, but the awkwardness between the two still lingered in Camille's presence.
Camille didn't respond, so Ayan continued, "Don't you really want to talk to me?"
Camille remained silent.
"When do you plan to come back?" he asked.
"After I finish my work." Four simple words, devoid of any emotion or warmth.
Ayan raised his hand and gently massaged his temples, his gaze fixed on the view outside the window, the airport of Campole.
His voice echoed once again, "Okay, come back after you finish your work. Leave the online matters to me."
Ayan's words instantly made Camille's nose tingle with a sour sensation. She simply pressed her lips, preventing her voice from revealing any emotions, and softly acknowledged before hanging up the phone. Ayan looked at the hung-up phone, and his voice followed, "Go and find out what has happened to Camille in the past five days."
Kian nodded, "Alright, Mr. Simpson. Shall we still go to Dane City?"
