Chapter 1239: Judgment
In reality, Ayan had no intention of letting Alicia off so easily. She even considered making Alicia
publicly apologize and holding Nores Group accountable for it.
However, Rex said that if this matter escalated, Camille's name would once again be thrust into the
attention of everyone. While some people might understand, there would also be those who would use
hurtful words. Even if they could hold those people accountable, it wouldn't reduce the pain inflicted on
Camille.
After Ayan's remarks, Mr. Nores repeatedly assured them, but in the end, Ayan didn't specify when the
project would resume.
The project had officially been halted for a whole day now, even though it hadn't even started formally.
However, rumors about the situation had started to spread.
After all, there was no such thing as an airtight secret. Even if the confidentiality measures were done
well, there would still be occasional leaks.
An anonymous blogger posted a video showing Ayan and Camille leaving the hotel that night, with Mr.
Nores following behind. From the video, it was clear that Mr. Nores was trying to please Ayan and
Camille. So, after the video was released, some people speculated if there was a problem with the
project.
However, the incident didn't generate much attention because it wasn't considered a significant
scandal. The onlookers weren't particularly enthusiastic about it.
But it did bring some minor troubles to Nores Group. After all, Nores Group had staked a lot on this
project, so with such an issue arising, their stocks naturally experienced some fluctuations.
However, there had been no response from Ayan's side, which greatly worried Mr. Nores. Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
Mr. Nores once again sought out Mario, hoping that Mario could speak some kind words to Camille.
Mr. Nores even showed considerable enthusiasm, saying, "Miss King, if Mrs. Simpson is willing to let
bygones be bygones, I am willing to offer a layer of benefits from Nores Group to treat Miss King to a
cup of coffee. Consider it my expression of goodwill. In the future, if Miss King ever needs anything
from Nores Group, just let us know, and we will spare no effort."
Mr. Nores expressed his sincerity anxiously. Originally, he only wanted to imply, but he discovered that
a direct response was much better than implications.
After Mr. Nores' words, Mario simply smiled faintly and said, "Mr. Nores, it will be difficult for us to
cooperate in the future if you act like this. I'm not after any benefits you offer. As for Cami, don't worry, I
have already talked to her on the phone. You know how delicate a girl's thoughts can be. Although this
incident doesn't seem to have caused any tangible harm, it has hurt a girl's feelings, which is far more
significant than any physical damage!"
Mr. Nores repeatedly agreed but still hoped that Mario could contact Camille again and have a proper
conversation. If there were any requests, he should just speak up.
Mr. Nores repeatedly pleaded with Mario, who seemed hesitant. But in the end, Mario said, "Since Mr.
Nores is so sincere, I'll give it a try. I'll have a good talk with Cami. She's generous, and she won't hold
onto this matter forever. Actually, it's Ayan who cares more about her, which is why she hasn't let it go."
With Mario's assurance, Mr. Nores was filled with gratitude towards him. Since he was anxious to urge
Mario to contact Camille, he quickly hung up the phone without much conversation.
After ending the call with Mr. Nores, Mario had no intention of making a phone call himself. His
secretary, who had overheard the conversation between him and Mr. Nores, asked in a low voice,
"Miss King, do you really want to contact Miss Armstrong?"
Mario narrowed his eyes, his expression cold and indifferent, and his voice unusually flat as he said,
"I'll definitely make the call. But this time, I have to let the Nores family know that it was my effort and
arrangement that made Camille open up. Otherwise, they wouldn't have budged."
The secretary frowned slightly, finding it somewhat unrealistic. She asked, "But what if the Nores family
doesn't see it that way?"
"No, they won't. Right now, the Nores family is at a loss. Since Alicia has already apologized to Camille,
and there's still no definite outcome from Ayan's side, it means the Nores family doesn't know what to
do. If I call Camille and then Ayan's side provides a clear answer, how could the Nores family not think
it's related to me?" Mario explained.
Mario let out a silent sigh and then smiled faintly, saying, "I have to admit, Ayan is quite good to
Camille. He's willing to put a project in the least important place for the sake of a woman. He really has
some lovesick brain!"
"Perhaps Simpson Group doesn't really need this project? It's just an unimportant project, so they
naturally prioritize pleasing their wife?" the secretary tentatively asked.
But Mario's expression softened, and he said, "This project might not be as big for Simpson Group as
their own projects, but it's still significant. After all, it involves collaborations between our King Group,
Armstrong Corp, and Nores Group. Even if Ayan doesn't give face to Nores Group, would he also
disregard Armstrong Corp and our King Group?"
Mario believed that no one should joke or use the company's projects as a gamble. Therefore, in his
eyes, nothing was more important than the company's matters.
Of course, Mario didn't think there was anything wrong with his actions. He believed that it was a basic
judgment that a mature person should have. The secretary didn't say anything further because she
could see that Mario was already displeased.
The secretary had other matters to attend to, so after reporting her work, she temporarily left Mario's
room. He sat alone for about a few minutes before dialing Camille's number.
The call connected quickly, but the first person to see his incoming call wasn't Camille, but Sienna.
Camille was busy, and Sienna happened to be in her office, so when she heard the phone ringing, she
picked it up to hand it to Camille.
Sienna casually glanced at the caller ID and immediately recognized the familiar words. It had been
some time since she had seen this name, but she hadn't forgotten it. It just felt like a slightly unfamiliar
sense of familiarity.
Sienna subconsciously furrowed her brow and handed the phone to Camille, speaking in a very cold
tone, "It's Mario calling you."
Camille was taken aback and didn't immediately react. But as she met Sienna's gaze and saw her
expression, she gradually realized that Mario was calling her.
Camille instinctively reached out and took the phone, her expression constantly filled with disbelief. She
also looked at Sienna and asked indifferently, "Why is he calling me?"
Sienna replied in a flat tone, "I don't know, maybe he wants to discuss business with you?"
Camille glanced at Sienna and then pressed the answer button a little faster. She opened the
speakerphone in front of Sienna.
Soon, Mario's voice came through the phone, gently asking, "Cami, it's me. Are you busy? Did I disturb
you?"
Camille pretended to sound somewhat surprised and asked, "Mario?"
"Yeah, it's me."
"I'm not busy. Why did you suddenly think of calling me? Is there something you need?" Camille still
acted as if she had no idea why Mario was calling her. In reality, she couldn't guess what the matter
was either.
Mario wasn't one to beat around the bush for too long, so after a brief exchange of pleasantries, he got
straight to the point. He said, "It's not a big deal, just about the events of these past few days. I heard
from the Nores family that Alicia apologized to you, but you haven't forgiven her, right?"
Camille responded sincerely, "Yes."
"Her apology and whether or not I forgive her don't conflict, do they?"
