Chapter 1231: Heavy
Ayan squinted his eyes, a hint of coldness flickering in his gaze. A beautifully arranged feast was
placed on the round table for eight people. However, due to this phone call, everyone had stopped Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
using their chopsticks, and the atmosphere became quiet.
After Horace spoke, Ayan hadn't had a chance to respond yet, but Rex's voice was the first to sound.
Rex said, "What does he mean? He wants the Armstrong family to pressure Cami so that you won't
confront the Nores family? Hah, it's really laughable. He can't convince the Nores family himself, so he
expects others to compromise? Is he out of his mind?"
Rex's emotions were particularly intense, and his words clearly showed his anger and displeasure
towards Mario. The true reason behind Rex's attitude towards Mario was only known by Ayan and
Camille. Horace was completely unaware, assuming that Rex was only so worked up because of Ayan.
Derek and Tomas, however, didn't quite understand. Their gazes met, and Tomas asked calmly,
"What's going on? Why are you so worked up? Did Mario do something that made you extremely
angry?"
Rex frowned and looked at Tomas with displeasure, his tone far from friendly. "Hah! He's just a petty
person!"
Rex's reaction was a bit excessive, so the uninformed individuals found it quite strange.
At that moment, Ayan's voice rang out, interrupting everyone's thoughts. He said indifferently, "Mario
wants to use the Armstrong family to pressure me. Has he not investigated whether the Armstrong
family holds any influence over me? It seems that the esteemed president of King Group is nothing
more than that, without even doing his homework properly."
Horace chimed in, "Mario is probably worried that the project will fall through. After all, this is his first
project since coming to Hance City. If this project doesn't go smoothly, it would be difficult for him to
proceed with future work."
After hearing this, Ayan couldn't help but laugh. "And what about you? If this project comes to a halt,
won't it be challenging for you to continue at Armstrong Corp?"
"Me?" Horace smiled and candidly replied, "Without this project, Simpson Group still has other projects,
right? Are you going to watch me have no way forward at Armstrong Corp?"
Horace's words evoked laughter from everyone.
Others raised their glasses and said lightly, "I'll collaborate with you. If this project falls through, we'll
each find a project for you. Don't worry, we're all friends here. We won't let you suffer."
Horace also raised his glass and clinked it with everyone else, and the atmosphere became livelier.
However, Camille had remained silent all this time, and her gaze subconsciously turned towards Ayan.
She gently placed her hand on Ayan's arm, her gaze warm and inquisitive. She softly told Ayan, "I
won't be pressured by the Armstrong family, and I won't compromise. Even if they hold a knife to my
neck, I won't react in any way."
Ayan laughed at his words and gently held her hand. "Who would dare to do that? Don't worry, the
Armstrong family wouldn't be that foolish. If they were, it would be their own misfortune, not ours."
However, in order to temporarily avoid associating Horace with Ayan in Mario's eyes, Ayan told Horace,
"Contact the Armstrong family tomorrow and inform them about this matter."
Horace didn't quite understand Ayan's intentions and asked, "Wouldn't that make things difficult for your
wife?"
"No, if the Armstrong family truly has the capability, then it would be impressive on their part." Ayan had
never considered the Armstrong family to be capable of such actions.
Since Ayan had said so, Horace naturally followed his instructions.
After they left the restaurant and were on their way home, Camille brought up the topic herself. "If Alicia
doesn't apologize to me, are you planning to continue dragging this project?"
Ayan held her hand the entire time and spoke in a warm and gentle voice, "I have that intention."
"But it wouldn't sound good if this spreads. Actually, I've thought about it. Alicia's apology isn't that
important. Even if she apologizes, I might not forgive her."
"Apologizing and whether you forgive her are not in conflict. The reason I insist on having her apologize
is to let her know that not everyone can offend her. As for whether you forgive her, that's your decision.
It doesn't mean you have to forgive her just because she apologized, understood?"
Ayan nodded gently, and his words undoubtedly warmed her heart.
However, Camille added, "I know you are punishing her for me, but I don't want you to bear the label of
being a bully alongside the Simpson family. Let's forgive them when the Nores family has no other
options left. After all, we still have Armstrong Corp and our own interests to consider!"
"Alright, I promise you."
Ayan gently touched her hair, then embraced her gently within his arms.
Early the next morning, Horace informed Brody about the situation.
When Brody heard the news, he was shocked and immediately asked, "Are you saying that Ayan
called for a pause because he offended Camille?"
"Yes," Horace confirmed.
"Does that mean the project is now on hold?"
"It's not completely halted, just temporarily paused. Ayan's intention is to continue the project when
Alicia apologizes." Horace deliberately added, "It's evident that Ayan cares deeply for Camille. He
completely put this project aside for her sake."
Brody didn't take joy in those words; his face darkened.
At that moment, Horace understood Brody's thoughts and continued, "Although this might be good
news for the Armstrong family, it's not a good situation for Armstrong Corp at the moment. This project
is crucial for us, after all."
Horace's words weighed heavily on Brody's mind, and he simply replied, "I understand, let's leave it at
that."
"Okay." Horace didn't say much more and let Brody hang up the phone.
The secretary on the side, seeing the situation, asked softly, "Mr. Burris, does your message to Mr.
Armstrong mean you want him to speak nicely to Mrs. Simpson? But their relationship isn't very close,
and it might not be as effective as Manager Jian personally intervening."
The secretary's words sparked a thought in Horace's mind, and a faint smile appeared on his face. He
said, "So that's what Ayan meant."
The secretary didn't understand Horace's words and asked, "Mr. Burris, what did you say?"
Horace shook his head, the smile still evident on his face, and said, "What decisions Mr. Armstrong
makes are his own business. Preston won't be coming to the company for a while, so temporarily close
his office. Whether his position has any impact on the company is not that important. However, there is
one thing you need to remind the HR department: Preston has been summoned by the police for
questioning due to the online incident. If he has any contact with the company, they must inform us
immediately."
The secretary nodded to indicate understanding and immediately went to inform the HR department.
As for Brody's situation, Horace naturally didn't care or feel curious. He was busy himself and took the
opportunity of having some free time to video chat with Grace for a while.
Brody, on the other hand, was not as relaxed. After hearing Horace's words, his emotions became
heavy. Lost in his thoughts, his face showed the weight on his mind. He didn't even notice when Page
came downstairs, but being treated so coldly made Page uncomfortable. Their relationship had been
extremely strained recently, but they still maintained a superficial marital facade.
Page was unhappy with being ignored and coldly asked, "What do you mean? Are you pretending not
to see me now?"
Brody looked up at the sound of her voice and stood up from the couch. Page was startled by his
reaction, thinking that he might be about to harm her.
Page quickly said, "What are you going to do? Let me tell you, if you dare to lay a hand on me, I won't
let you off."
Brody ignored her question and instead said, "Armstrong Corp is in trouble. If you don't want Armstrong
Corp to be completely ruined, go find Camille and make peace with Alicia from the Nores family. Only
when they reconcile will Ayan not be pursued."
