Chapter 24 Tea or Coffee
“Oh… er, no need for that. I’ll remember. I’ll remember it all clearly.”
Blanca didn’t dare mouth off any longer and just busied herself with lunch. She didn’t even know what the food tasted like, though.
Oh no, if anything had happened, was she going to get pregnant…
If she did get pregnant, it was going to be trouble…
As she thought of all that, her mood was all frazzled. She somehow finished the meal, packed it up, and was about to leave when there came a knock on the door.
“Enter.”
Lisa the secretary walked in, saw her boss sitting on the sofa, and less than a meter away from him, the petite Blanca sitting on the rug, her heels off and at a side. From Lisa’s angle, it looked like Blanca was leaning on Matthew.
Lisa lowered her gaze in a panic, biting her lip.
Matthew’s office had always only been a workspace, and he’d hated others doing what they wanted in his office. Here this woman was treating it like she was lounging in her own house.
Sure it was Matthew’s wife, but Lisa was still ridiculously jealous at the scene. She’d stayed by Matthew’s side for all those years and always kept to a strict code of conduct, all to leave a good impression with Matthew. Now, it seemed it wasn’t that she hadn’t done a good enough job. No matter what she did, Matthew had never given her any special treatment. She was just like Curtis. Another member of the staff.
Thinking of that, Lisa’s mood fell some more.
“What is it?”
Matthew frowned at her, since she hadn’t spoken at all when she came in.
Blanca looked at her too and had to raise an eyebrow. This secretary was pretty good-looking herself!
She hadn’t met this Lisa when she came in, and just knew from Curtis that Matthew’s secretary was named Lisa Anderson.
She shot a look at Matthew, leering at him. He did know how to pick himself a secretary, huh?!
“Would you like your coffee now, Mr. Grant?” Lisa asked.
She nodded at Blanca with a light smile and didn’t greet her.
“Sure.” Matthew nodded, somewhat displeased. “You can just call from now on.”
Lisa had always just called to ask about it, so why had she come to the office at all? It wasn’t anything serious.
And she was interrupting his lunch with his wife!
Lisa turned to leave. It was true that she hadn’t needed to come and had only needed to call.
But she knew Blanca was in the room, so out of a sense of resentment, she wanted to see for herself if Matthew really felt anything for this woman he’d suddenly married, or if they were just acting the part.RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
After all, as Matthew’s secretary, she’d never seen him show interest in any woman.
“Wait a moment.” Blanca stood and turned to Lisa.
Lisa smiled and turned around. “What is it, Miss Roach?”
Blanca blinked and slightly narrowed her eyes. From that “Miss Roach” of this secretary’s and her professionally feigned smile, she realized something.
This woman had set her eyes on Matthew.
“Secretary Anderson, was it? Please wait another half hour before you pour Matthew his coffee.”
“Oh? Why is that?”
Lisa asked, frowning with a bit of displeasure. Even if she was Matthew’s wife, she was butting her nose in too much!
Matthew also chuckled, a little confused. “What, I can’t even have a cup of coffee?”
