Mistake with the Alpha

Mistake With The Alpha Chapter 38

Samantha's POV

"I don't think it's a good idea to return to the party" he called at my back.Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.

But I ignored him and returned to the party. When I got there I noticed there's something awkward. The atmosphere wasn't as lively as it was although the party continued. Jaylen was the first thing that came to my mind. I used my eyes to look for him but I couldn't find him. "Sam, don't panic, nothing has happened" I calmed myself down.

I walked to where Velvet and Susan were.

"Where have you been?" Susan asked me.

I noticed there's something wrong with the way she looked at me.

"Rest room" I replied. "Is anything wrong?" I asked.

"I think we should leave the party. Sally needs us urgently" Velvet said hurriedly.

"Hope there's nothing?" I asked with concern.

"I don't know she just needs us," she replied.

As we were leaving, one of the female warriors double-crossed us.

"Hey bitch" she called, pushing my head.

I knew her to be one of the people who bullied me when I did go to the training ground and those whom Jaylen sent to the farm. I ignored her and wanted to start to leave.

"Wouldnt have no choice but to stop sleeping with the alpha since he found his mate tonight?" She said with mockery.

I couldn't believe what I heard. It was as if everything went blank.

"She's shocked. The idiot doesn't know" she shouted to her mates.

They all moved closer and laughed at me.

"Did she think she can hold the alpha for life?" The female warrior that stopped me asked.

"She must be a fool to think that. I'm sure the alpha doesn't love her. He just wants her body nothing more" another said.

These words were hitting me like a hammer. Jaylen finally found his bride. What am I to do then? Now I know the reason Drey was trying to stop me. Tears rushed down my eyes. I still couldn't believe my ears.

I ran away, not even looking at the direction I took. Velvet and Susan were running after me calling my name while the females laughed at me. I didn't even reply to them. It was later I noticed that they were not following me anymore. I didn't look back to confirm, my mind was too occupied for that.

"I knew this was going to happen," I told Crystal.

Crystal was also not in a good mood. I could feel her pain. I felt like shifting and having a good run but I know if I shift suddenly, I have to go back naked, which I wouldn't want to do. I don't want to add to my problem. I couldn't stop crying. I wish this was a bad dream and I should wake up at any moment.

"I don't know it'll be this soon," Crystal said sorrowfully.

"You are the cause of this Crystal. You pushed me into this" I said to her.

"You were already in love with him. So don't you dare put the lame on me. I'm hurting as much as you're hurting" she retorted.

I knew I was wrong to blame her. My tears couldn't just stop flowing. My heart hurts like hell and I feel like I'm breaking into pieces. I know Jaylen would be happy right now. I should be happy for him too. He found the mate he's been longing for all these while. I couldn't help but to be jealous of the female mated to him.

"Why can't it be me?" I cried.

I don't know if I've ever offended the moon goddess in my past life. She's never in for my happiness. Even a rival shouldn't be treated this way. This moment I'm happy, next moment, I'm the saddest person on earth.

I feel like I'm going to die from this heartbreak. I knew something like this would happen but I couldn't help the sadness that spread through my body. I sat by a tree and started to cry bitterly. Both my eyes and nose were watering.

"I tried to warn you but you wouldn't" I heard someone say.

It wasn't a voice I recognized so I looked at the direction the voice was coming from. I then saw the lycan alpha blood named Drey. He was towering over me. I wonder how he came so close that I couldn't even notice. I was in so much pain. I didn't even bother to reply to him. I don't need anyone's pity right now. All I just need is to be left alone.

"Take," he said, taking his seat beside me.

I looked at the handkerchief he was stretching to me. I didn't even have the strength to carry my hand, talk more or wipe my tears. I just kept on looking at the piece of cloth.

When he saw that I wasn't ready to collect it, he began to wipe my tears. I came to my senses and collected it from him. What I'm avoiding is another male who is not my mate close to me. I can't receive another blow. My heart has weakened.

We didn't say anything for a while. I just let my tears fall slowly while he looked at the space. After a while he spoke.

"You know your alpha loves you and it's not his fault right?" He asked me.

"Yes I know. It's the moon goddess's fault. She's the reason for all my plight" I said inwards.

I wished I could shout that loud but I didn't. I just looked at Drey. If it was based on what was said about him, I didn't understand his reason for being friendly or taking sides of Jaylen. The few minutes I was with him and Jaylen, I know they ain't that of friends. What I even heard about him before he came was that he's the most brutal of all the lycans that came. Now he is acting nice and feels kind of weird.

"I know he feels too bad about this whole thing" he said, not minding that I didn't reply to him.

I hope that's true. But I couldn't believe that he would be anything else but sad. He might be sorry for what happened but I know he's not sad. Even if he wants to, the mating bond wouldn't let him to be.

"The mating bond can't be questioned," I sniffed.

"It can. Some questioned it with magic. How do you think some people steal others' mate" he said blankly.

I got confused at what he said. I've never heard of anyone stealing another's mate before.

"Is he implying that we can steal Jaylen from his mate?" Crystal asked.
