Chapter 296
Selena's eyes welled up with tears, genuinely furious at how Everett could be so shameless, acting as if everything could just carry on as usual.
"Everett, get away from me! I don't want you!" she shouted, pounding his shoulders and chest with all her might, trying to release the pent-up grievances, hatred, and anger that had been building up inside her. Everett held her close, allowing her to vent on him, while he kissed the corners of her tear-streaked eyes, his expression a mix of pleasure and sympathy.
For the past month or so, Selena had been distant, only engaging with him when it came to their child. She wouldn't talk to him or even give him the time of day. It left him not just unhappy, but genuinely worried. Selena wasn't usually like this. She was someone whose emotions were clear and strong, a vibrant woman full of passion. Her numbness was only because she had bottled everything up inside.
Keeping emotions suppressed for too long without any outlet could lead to problems, especially since she was pregnant. He'd been reading up on pregnancy and came across something called prenatal depression. He couldn't bear the thought of Selena falling ill, of watching such a lively woman fade away. After all, she was the one he had chosen to be Mrs. Bennett, and he still wanted to make things work between them. Selena couldn't match Everett's strength, and eventually, exhausted from yelling, hitting, and crying, she slumped weakly against his shoulder, breathing lightly.
She assumed Everett would lose interest and let her go, but he didn't. His movements were gentle, yet each one was incredibly deliberate.
He didn't change positions much, but the whole process was incredibly patient and teasing.
Even though Selena resisted mentally, when her body's natural responses took over, she couldn't help but feel an intense, albeit embarrassing, pleasure. She bit her lip hard, refusing to make a sound, even as her fingernails left marks on his back and neck.
She heard Everett's satisfied growls, his heavy breathing, sensing how much he was enjoying it, how comfortable he seemed.
Yet she couldn't understand, if he didn't love her, how could he find satisfaction with her?
Could a man's desires and emotions truly be so separate? Or was it... not just with her, but did he feel even better with Margot?
She didn't know, nor did she want to think about it. Such thoughts were not only insulting but deeply tormenting.
Considering Selena was pregnant, Everett held himself to just once.
Afterward, they were both drenched in sweat, foreheads resting against each other, catching their breath.
As Selena regained some strength, she nudged Everett to get up, feeling sticky and uncomfortable, needing a shower before she could sleep.
Everett was a bit reluctant, wanting
to hold her a bit longer. Honestly, he hadn't had enough; months of abstinence and this was hardly enough for him.
But he understood he couldn't push her too hard and had to take things slow.
"Alright, I'll get up. Don't be mad," he said, his voice husky and magnetic as he kissed Selena's flushed nose, pulled away, and discarded the used condom.
Selena closed her eyes, unwilling to look, her hand covering her face as if to shut it all out.
Everett then carried her to the bathroom, quickly rinsed himself and gently washed her, wrapping her in a towel before carrying herback to bed.
He turned off the light, pulled her into his arms, and gently patted her back. "Sleep now, goodnight."NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.
