Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 142

Selena was totally baffled. "What?" she asked.

Everett didn't respond; instead, he suddenly grabbed her hand. The heat radiating from his palm nearly made her jump out of her skin. She got what he was hinting at, and it made her both angry and annoyed. She tried to shake him off, but he just tightened his grip, making it impossible for her to escape.

He started to breathe heavily, and the raw, masculine scent filled the air, turning the night into something intensely suggestive. Selena was flustered, her face aflame and heart pounding. She couldn't bring herself to glance at Everett.

Time seemed to crawl at a snail's pace, and there was no way she could fall asleep. In her mind, she cursed him over and over, just wishing he'd get it over with.

But, as luck would have it, he just wouldn't hurry up. Her hand was so sore from all this, and she couldn't help but tell him, "Come on, hurry it up!" "Kiss me," he murmured, his lips grazing her ear.

Selena muttered under her breath about how shameless he was, but eager to end this ridiculous scene, she leaned in and gave him a quick peck.

It was supposed to be a fleeting kiss, a touch-and-go, but as she tried to pull away, he clutched the back of her neck. He pulled her into a deep, passionate French kiss.

After a muffled groan, he held her tight, his head buried in her shoulder, waiting for the moment to settle.

Right then, Selena had a thousand curses running through her mind. She couldn't take it anymore and shoved him off, heading straight for the bathroom.

Her hands felt gross and sticky. She cranked the faucet, scrubbing them like she was trying to wash away some pesky germs. She even pumped the soap dispenser several times.

Then Everett strolled in, casually draping a loose bathrobe over himself, looking both sexy and laid-back. He leaned against the doorframe, watching her with a teasing smirk. "You didn't seem to mind earlier," he said, grinning. Selena glared at him through the mirror, seeing that smug look on his face. "Shameless!" she spat.

But Everett was in a fantastic mood, even finding her insults charming. He walked over, wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, and rested his chin on her shoulder.

His dark eyes locked with hers in the mirror as he playfully suggested, "Selena, how about a cozy bath together?"

Selena's response was swift-a swift kick to his shin.

room as Selena grabbed her phone and made her way to the guest room. She was way too exhausted to deal with him any longer. She locked the door and flopped onto the bed, ready to catch up on some sleep.

Just as she was about to drift off, she felt the bed sink beside her. She was pulled into a warm embrace.

She didn't even need to turn around; she knew her persistent husband had followed her.

Instinctively, Selena tried to push him away, but he gently nibbled her ear, hal threatening, half-seducing. "I just want to hold you while we sleep, but if you keep squirming, I won't be so nice!" Content_belongs to

She froze.

"Sleep," Everett said.

In the end, Selena couldn't fight off the sleepiness. Her eyelids slowly closed.

...

The next morning, Everett woke up right on schedule. The sunlight streaming in was a bit too bright, so he shielded his eyes with his hand before adjusting.

A notification ding interrupted his thoughts. He assumed it was his phone and reached for it, only to find it was Selena's. One glance at the screen, and his smile vanished.
