Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 111

As soon as she spoke, Callum's tense face relaxed, and he was back to his usual calm and collected self. On the other hand, Everett's eyes darkened, and a dangerous vibe surrounded him. "Selena, Everett, see you around," Callum said.

Selena waved casually. "See you."

Callum nodded slightly at Selena and turned to leave.

In the blink of an eye, Selena felt a strong hand grip her chin, almost crushing it, as he turned her face towards him. He growled in her ear, "Selena, make sure you know who your man is. Are you really turning your back on me?" Selena, equally fired up, shoved him away forcefully. "And what if I am? I just can't stand your attitude!"

Her unapologetic and bold response made Everett's hands shake with anger. "What attitude?"

Was he still playing the innocent card? His performance could win an Oscar!

Selena let out a series of mocking laughs. "You know exactly what!"

She decided not to waste another word on him, not wanting to rile herself up further. She turned to leave, but Everett grabbed her wrist again, pulling her back and pinning her against a tree to keep her from getting away, caging her in front of him. He looked down at her, his eyes cold, "Spell it out. Don't throw baseless accusations at me!"

The evidence was staring him in the face, yet he accused her of making things up. He really had a way of twisting words!

Selena wished she could slap him into next week. She struggled, but she was no match for his strength, and the frustration built up until she felt like her head might explode.

As she looked up at him, her cheeks flushed, her eyes blazing, "Fine, you're not embarrassed, so why should I be? Everett, are you picking on Dr. Campbell because you're jealous?"Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.

Everett flinched. His eyes flickered before he instinctively denied it. "Jealous? Of course not!"

How could he possibly be jealous of her?

It was just... she was still his wife, and he wouldn't allow her to stray during their marriage. Especially not with Callum, his own friend!

Selena wasn't surprised by his

stubborn denial. She taunted, "Sure, sure, you're not jealous. I should've recorded your snarky attitude earlier on my phone, so you could see for yourself!"

Everett's expression turned icier, and an uncontrollable tension spread through him. He hated it when she spoke to him like this.

Unaware of his mood, Selena

continued, "Stop being so petty. You and Margot are already all

lovey-dovey, so let Dr. Campbell be, and quit poking at people's sore spots. You're being really low class!"

And hurtful, too.

She left those last words unsaid, so as not to shred her last shred of dignity.

Everett was taken aback by her words, watching her with disbelief. So, she thought his spat with Callum was over jealousy about Margot.

In that moment, Everett wanted to

pry open her head to see how her

thought process could be so offbeat. He let out a soft laugh, "Selena, do you know how you died

in your past life?"

Selena was caught off guard by the sudden change in topic, and replied offhandedly, "How? Did I die of beauty?"

"You wish. You died of stupidity!" His lips curled up, each word dripping with clarity.
