The urge to survive
Lorraine
Like Victoria’s death didn’t matter to any of them, I was shoved away from her and dragged out of the room like a common criminal.
I stumbled through the daze of seeing my friend killed, my wedding dress smeared with her blood as I wondered how Dexter would receive the news.
Obviously, I won’t be able to tell him because they’d probably kill me too.
“Stop!” Leonard’s husky voice cut through my trance-like-state then the man who held me let go, while I slumped on the ground, my body bereft of energy. “You all can leave.” He ordered and they left except for Emilia who scooted to the ground.
She jutted my chin towards her with a snicker. “How the mighty have fallen.” She mocked. “It’s time to go get your man, honey, and by the time he’s done watching the video that’s if he hasn’t gotten it already, he’ll be all mine.” She taunted me.
I gave off no reaction as I didn’t see the need to. They have succeeded. My once bubbly day had been drowned with bad events from all angles.
As Emilia’s heels faded away while she trotted out of the hallway, I remembered that I wasn’t alone. Leonardo was still here.
“You can kill me if you want. I promise that I won’t struggle.” I said in resignation, leaning against the wall with every part of my body aching.
The numbness that I’d been feeling was beginning to slip away, and all the pain that was inflicted on me slowly sprang up, including the tear on my lip.
He grunted, tucking my hair behind my ears while I shivered in irritation and shook his hand off. “Don’t touch me.”
“Right now, you don’t have the right to tell me what to do because you’ve lost it. ” He bent down, his eyes boring into mine. “All the times you were with Dexter, did you think that I wouldn’t be able to get you?” He asked, but since I wasn’t in the mood for a discussion, I left his question hanging.
When he saw that I was silent, he pinched my chin. “When I ask you a question make sure you respond. It will make our activity for this evening less painful and maybe you’ll enjoy it.” He wriggled his brows, and my skin crawled in repulsion as his fingers trailed along the bodice of my dress.
I hoped that it wasn’t what I was thinking because he’d have to kill me first. I doubted I had the strength to fight against him but I’d rather die trying.
“Honestly, I don’t know how to answer your question, but there’s a question that has bothered me for the longest and I hope you’re kind enough to give me a good response.”
He seemed to be enjoying our little chat even though I was presently regretting why I didn’t shoot him when I had the gun with me.
“I’m listening. I mean, it won’t be bad to have your nerves eased before the long night…” He had that suggestive tone that irked me to my bones but I didn’t give a slightest reaction.
My brain was still working on how to escape from this trap even though it looked almost impossible.
“Why do you enjoy hurting me?” I asked simply.
His eyes dimmed, thrown aback by my question. “Well, you make it all fun. At first you struggle so hard like you stand a chance against me, then later you cave in because you know that I’m the one you want.”
Was this man mad?
Fury replaced the cold aloofness I felt.
“You’re crazy, Leonardo. The biggest mistake my late mother ever made was meeting you. I guess her body would be tossing restlessly in her grave in regret.” I spat and he averted his gaze from me.
He slowly rose to his feet without saying a word, then he yanked me up with less effort and dragged me into another empty room. Unlike the other room I found myself in, this one had a bed and a little window.
Anxiety creeped in as he slammed the door and began to work on his belt. I scanned through my dress, my heart beating in a staccato rhythm, checking the thickness of the several layers of fabric. It would be intricate enough to keep him confused until I fight him off…
“What are you doing?” I asked harshly when he took strides towards me, clad in just his briefs and blazers.
He stretched his arms as I retreated, avoiding the bed. “Come on, baby, don’t make this any harder. I want to feel you. I’m even horny, don’t you see?” He pointed at the rock hiding underneath his briefs while I shuddered at the disgusting sight.
If it had belonged to someone else-Dexter, I’d have been all shades of horny, but I couldn’t stand the sight of Leonardo talking more about the rod between his thighs.
“I won’t let you have me!” I refused vehemently. “I am not your whore.”
Thankfully, the bed was king-sized and it wasn’t close to the wall so we could run around in circles.
“Don’t be so sure about that…” He leaped forward, his eyes blazing with the need to fulfill his mission as they darkened whileI moved back swiftly.
The movement caused his head to collide with the hard wood and he began to curse under his breath. I found a broken metal at the edge of the bed and my heart leaped for joy, then I bent down and stylishly picked it up.
“You wench!”
He dragged me onto the bed and I let him. My back collided with the hard foam and I laid flat, watching him tear my dress aggressively while I shut my eyes.
I wouldn’t make a mistake this time. That, I promised.
“Please, Leonardo, don’t do this.” I pleaded with him softly, but my pleas fell on deaf ears as he busied himself with undressing me.
The moment his fingers got to my underwear I made my move. With one strike on his crotch, a painful groan resonated from his throat. I stabbed his arm and rolled him over, dashing out of the room without looking back.
His yells and slow footsteps alerted me that he was chasing after me, but I had an advantage since I’d rendered him indisposed.
He wouldn’t be able to run with blood gushing down his thighs except he was immune to pain.
Freedom stared at me as I ran out of the compound without anyone following me or so I thought.
I didn’t bother to stop and see if they actually didn’t notice that I’d escaped as a great deal of adrenaline surged through my body.
The primal need to survive was imprinted in my mind.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
‘Keep running.’ I chanted within myself as I got to the highway, wishing that anyone would be kind to get me out of here.
Blinded by fear and survival hormones, I defied the traffic rules and jumped into the highway where cars sped off like they were in a race. Most of them blew their horns at me but I ignored them, wading through cars until I wasn’t so lucky anymore.
I heard my name behind me and fear welled up again as I spun around and found Dante beaming towards me. Like I decided earlier, I’d rather die than have him get me. So I did the craziest thing and ran against a BMW X 4.
I felt my body being lifted into the air and a barrage of memories flooded my mind; the first time I had an accident after finding out that Eden was cheating on me, then meeting Dexter and creating a lot of memories with him.
Hot tears cascaded down my cheeks when my head collided with the ground, the sound of cars jamming into each other reverberated.
My eyes were becoming blurry and a wheezing sound resonated in my ear. I couldn’t feel, I couldn’t think, so what was the use of living?
My body began to shut down and I readily accepted my fate, closing my tired eyes and allowing death or whatever laid in wait for me to take over.
