Hurting her captor
Dexter
My eyes never strayed from my phone while I paced in the hospital’s parking space. I wasn’t just counting the seconds till Lorraine got here, I was also checking for updates from Drake.
I’d never forget what he did for me today. How he decided to drive around California knowing that the kidnapper wouldn’t have gone far.
I couldn’t leave because I had to keep tabs on my younger sister. Though some of my men were already watching over her, I felt that things would go wrong if wasn’t around.
My phone beeped, my heart tightening at Drake’s message. She was here.
My princess was back from the lion’s den and I couldn’t be more happy.
One of my men who followed Drake to search for her sent a message, saying that they got the man who took her away.
I was known as one of the most eligible bachelors in the state, and a wealthy billionaire.
Truthfully, I dominated the textile space. No one could even come close. But what the internet didn’t know was that I could be ruthless when it came to protecting the people I loved.
I dialled Dante’s line, the one who told me about the kidnapper’s capture and waited impatiently for him to pick up the phone. I was ready to scold him for delaying when I sighted Lorraine limping towards me, her arm slouched over Drake’s shoulder.
She was hurt.
The idiot hurt my baby.
He’d be hurt too.
Finally he picked up, apologizing for taking long.
“Make sure he’s well taken care of. I’ll meet you guys soon.” I ordered and ended the call, eager to have Lorraine in my arms.
Her gray eyes which had a captivating spark was doused with fear and glints of relief. She stared at me, her eyes turning glassy as she took her arms off Drake.
I advanced towards them, walking faster than usual. She jumped on me, our arms wrapped around each other in an embrace that displaced the worries and uncertainties that we faced a few hours ago.
“I thought I’d never see you again.” She sobbed against my back, her body humming as she bawled.
My hands stroked her back tenderly until her sobs turned into sniffles. “He’d never hurt you again. It’s a promise.” My body was taut with anger and an unquenchable thirst to maim the person who hurt my wife.
She gazed at me, her nose red. Then I noticed the swell on her left cheek which was slowly fading into a purple mark.
“What happened to you?” I growled, carrying her into the car.
She was silent at first, like she was processing my question. The shock from earlier hadn’t completely vanished and I knew just what to do, but it had to wait until she was cleaned up and checked. “Talk to me, mamacita.” I pleaded.
She shrugged, then took a deep breath with her eyes shut. When her eyes opened, the fear had disappeared, just exhaustion. “He hit me while I dragged his balls. I guess he didn’t like the ministration but if he had left me alone, I wouldn’t have done that. He also pulled my hair, but I retaliated then ran away.” She explained.
My heart swelled with pride as she explained everything she did to him. Gradually, it occurred to me that Lorraine wasn’t as weak as she used to be.
She was growing beautiful wings and I’d be there to watch her soar in the sky.
“Thank you for fighting. I don’t know what I’d have done if that man had hurt you more than this.” I confessed as I held her hands, surprised at how easy it was to express my emotions.
Her brows arched with a nonchalant look. “You’d have called the cops.” She rolled her eyes then fixed it on me with a questioning look. “How did Dante know where I’d be? I asked him in the car and he only told me to rest my mind. What’s going on Dexter?” She interrogated me.
I shook my head and looked away. I couldn’t answer any of her questions because it would lead to more questions that I wasn’t ready to reply.
I had a lot of skeletons in my cupboard. They weren’t stale, just not normal. “I don’t know. Maybe he had a hunch about where you could be since we couldn’t reach you.” My response was vague, but that was all I could let out.
She parted her lips as if she had something else to say, but she snapped it back and my eyes wandered to her injured foot. I reached for it, fixing a cursory glance at it.
“We need to get this cleaned up, then I’ll take you home.” I said.
“That’s fine.” She replied flatly, recoiling into her quiet shell as we headed back to the ward for treatment to be administered on her.
I made sure that her toe was cleaned and her face taken care of. The faint mark on her cheek was a reminder of her strength and vulnerability.
I’d never forget it.
“Do you want to go home?” I asked as I led her towards the car, her arm wrapped around my shoulder.
“I don’t think I can. Victoria is still in the hospital and I’d like to stay around as many people as I can.”
The fear still lingered. Soon I’d wipe it out so that she’d be able to live freely.
“But you’ll have to rest, Lorraine.” I persuaded her as I thought of what to do. “Here’s what we’ll do. I’ll take you to a hotel and I promise that I’ll have people watching over you. Is that fine by you?”Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
She pursed her lips, silently contemplating on her options. I had to deal with her captor but I couldn’t let her know that or she’d have a different perception of me.
“Are you going to be there with me?” She asked quietly, training those soulful gray eyes on me.
I had to be careful about my answer, knowing that she needed me now more than ever. Staring right back at her, I knew what I had to do.
“I’ll stay.” I promised.
She smirked, her face lighting up at my words. “Good,” She chirped as I helped her into the car. “Because I want you.” The words rolled out of her lips, her eyes blaring with desire that sparked up mine.
It was funny how our minds worked together, because that was the therapy I planned for her. Making love to her all night until she couldn’t think about anyone but me.
