Chapter 36
Chapter 36
Zane made no comments and told the chauffeur to drive. The vehicle happened to drive past a
moderately priced car..
Finding the car familiar, Zane fixated on the car for a while and saw Lianne wheeling her large suitcase
toward the vehicle.
The car pulled up and a man got out from behind the wheel. The first thing the man did was take
Lianne’s luggage
Before Zane could get a good look at the man, the chauffeur stepped on the accelerator and
drove off.
Zane peevishly loosened his tie and dialed a number. “What’s the progress?”
An offhanded voice came on the other end. “You have a team of elite lawyers, Zane. Why did you seek
my services? Are the rumors of your wife cheating on you true?”
“Ha! People just can’t stay out of my business. They had to get my granny involved too. How many
people know about this?” Zane had an idea of the person who started the rumors.
The man clicked his tongue. “The rumors are going around the four major families. It must be
embarrassing for you. Charlie’s sister has the looks and upbringing. Plus, she’s crazy about you. Why
didn’t you consider her? You had to marry a simple, homely, and ordinary girl as your granny asked.
Well, no one expected your wife to cheat on you.”
Zane solemnly uttered, “Get to the point.” From NôvelDrama.Org.
The man stopped goofing around and replied in a serious tone, “You know you can count on me to get
things done. Just say the word, and I can get your cheating wife to sign the divorce papers tonight.”
Zane lifted his arm to look at the time. “You have two hours. I want to see the signed divorce papers in
two hours.”
No sooner had Zane finished his phone conversation did Lianne’s personal phone start to ring. She
had only stepped into the car.
The person on the other line cut to the chase the moment the call was connected. “Ms. Simpson, I am
the new attorney representing Mr. Caleb Hill. I require your signature on the divorce papers. Are you
free to meet, or should I come to you?”
The person made his intention clear with his firm tone. He would be at her door if she refused to
meet with him.
His tone did not sit well with Lianne. Still, the matter would have been sorted out more than a
month ago if her work had not gotten in the way. “I’ll meet you. Name the place.”
The attorney gave an address not too far from Lianne’s rented apartment.
Lianne told Tyler, “Ty, I need to make a stop at the Urban Grind.”
Sierra commented, “You won’t be able to sleep at night if you have coffee at this hour.”
Lianne responded with a smile, “I’m not going there for coffee. I’m getting a divorce.”
Tyler and Sierra uttered, “Your husband is sh*tty to ask for a divorce as soon as you’ve gotten off a
plane. We’re going with you.”
Lianne wanted to refuse the gesture, but the pair would not take her advice. Hence, her
roommates sat with her and the lawyer and listened to the conversation.
The young lawyer in a sharp suit looked like the elite attorney seen on TV.
He courteously handed Lianne a business card. “Ms. Simpson, I’m Sam. I’ll be handling your
divorce with Mr. Hill,”
Lianne took the business card that printed Sam Lambert’s position as the most senior lawyer of
the Firm.
Lianne had heard about the Firm before. It was a famous law firm in the business.
Sam passed along the divorce paperwork. “Take a look at the divorce agreement. Please sign if you
find everything okay.”
Lianne took the divorce papers and ran her eyes through them. “So I’ll have to sign? I’ve never been
divorced, so I don’t know much about it. I’ll need time to review it.”
