Chapter 3284 Aelion's Desperate Flight
Aelion's gaze was fixed on the black longsword on the ground before him, his eyes flashing with intense wariness. Anger and desperate, he lifted his head and shouted toward the shadowy figure perched high in the trees. "Are you really going to fight me to the death?" he bellowed, his voice cracking with both fury and fear.
Aelion had been driven into such a desperate situation in just a few brief exchanges. Deep in his heart, he knew that if this continued, he might not survive the day.
The figure in black responded coldly, "Those who dare harm a member of the Witch Clan will be hunted to the ends of the earth."
As the black longsword rose again, Aelion's heart burned with hatred. "Mark my words," he snarled, "what you sow today, you shall reap tomorrow."
Without another moment's hesitation, Aelion turned and fled, his figure quickly disappearing into the distance. He knew returning to Everton was no longer an option. Facing this formidable Witch Clan member alone was beyond his capabilities, let alone confronting this adversary and Matthew together.
The cloaked figure watched Aelion's retreating form with a sneer.
"The Witch Clan's discretion has clearly emboldened some fools," the figure mused.
With a graceful leap, the black-robed figure landed before Arnold and Jaylen. In a fluid motion, two small black pills were slipped into their mouths. Then, as swiftly as it had appeared, the shadowy figure vanished without a trace.
...
Meanwhile, in Everton, Matthew's car rolled into a city in turmoil. The streets were packed with anxious crowds, their faces etched with worry and fear. Parking his vehicle, Matthew approached a passerby.
"Excuse me, sir," he inquired gently, "what's going on here?"
Despite being the second-in-command of Montiria, Matthew remained calm and approachable.
Initially annoyed by the interruption, the man turned to snap at Matthew. However, his expression quickly shifted from annoyance to awe as he recognized Matthew's
features. The man fell to e
before Matthew.
Matthew, taken aback, quickly helped the man to his feet. "Hey, why are you kneeling?"
"Regent, you must avenge King Gadel!" the man boomed, his voice echoing through the crowd. The crowd's murmurs grew louder as they turned their attention to the handsome young Regent.
As the people saw Matthew standing amidst them, they knelt in unison, some even weeping as they fervently bowed their heads.
"Please, Regent," they cried, "avenge King Gadel!"
Matthew's face darkened as he looked over the sea of kneeling citizens. "Can someone tell me what happened?"
The man who had earlier knelt but was helped up by Matthew explained, "Regent, the Aerial Legion stormed the Montiria Palace and attacked King Gadel last night. To this moment, His Majesty is still missing." Matthew furrowed his brow, turning to the man with a sharp gaze. "So, the Aerial Legion has betrayed us, assassinated King Gadel, and there's no sign of him?"
"Yes, please, you must find King Gadel!" the man implored.
Matthew's face darkened as he
surveyed the sea of desperate faces. With a commanding voice that radiated authority and compassion, he commanded, "Rise, citizens of Montiria. I give you my word I will find King Gadel."
Helping the man to his feet,
Matthew set off toward the Montiria Palace. He had only been gone briefly, searching for his wife, and returned to find Montiria in turmoil. The Aerial Legion's betrayal and Gadel's disappearance threatened to plange the nation into chaos.
Meanwhile, heated debates raged among the court officials in the royal hall. Amidst the commotion, Fiorenna stood resolute beneath Gadel's empty throne. She held firm in her belief that Gadel would be safe.Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
