Chapter 167

Andrew frowned slightly when he saw Madelyn arrive with Roger.

Roger strode forward.

His tone was light but carried an implied reproach as he said, “Andrew, this is on you. How could you let Maddie go to the hospital alone?”

“I decided to go alone. It’s not his fault,” Madelyn replied firmly.

“Do you

still remember how you fussed about divorcing him before? Yet, you’re defending him now,” Roger teased.

Madelyn shot him a sharp glare, wishing she could tear him apart. She wondered how she had never realized Roger was such a troublemaker. He kept bringing up sensitive topics unnecessarily.

Andrew gently took Madelyn’s hand.

“Roger, leave her be. She might end up in tears if you continue to tease her.”

“You’re spoiling her too much!” Roger chuckled.

He poured himself a drink.

Madelyn sat beside Andrew and instinctively leaned into his embrace.

She meekly greeted Kevin, who sat across from her, “Hey, Kevin.”

Kevin nodded in acknowledgment.

His demeanor was utterly different from Roger’s. Roger exuded maturity with age, while Kevin exuded genuine gentlemanly grace.

As she watched the trio discuss work matters during the meal, Madelyn regretted coming with Roger.

When they were young, they often did their homework together. Despite the solemn atmosphere, they would occasionally goof around. Now, in this solemn setting, Madelyn lost her appetite.

Meanwhile, Andrew looked after her. He placed a perfectly cut steak in front of her.

“Eat up.”

Madelyn nodded and began eating quietly.

She listened as the three men continued discussing work matters. She wasn’t entirely clueless about their conversation. She simply chose not to interject.

Roger turned to Andrew and asked, “Now that Glomhill and Equilwood Village have merged, should we invite Naomi to design this project?”

Naomi was renowned internationally for designing several significant projects, each of which had won prestigious awards.

If they could get Naoml for the Glomhill project, the project would be halfway successful from the start.

Andrew furrowed his brow at the mention of Naomi.

“Hasn’t she been missing for the past two years?”

There was truth in Andrew’s assumption.

Naomi’s designs were undeniably brilliant, but the crucial issue was that she hadn’t worked on any

Madelyn had remained silent until that moment..

She said to Andrew, “Why not give it a try? Maybe she just hasn’t found a project she wants to take on.”

Andrew looked at her.

Madelyn continued, “You know, some designers are just quirky.”

Andrew hummed in agreement.

He had already made up his mind. While they might not be able to secure Naomi for this project, they could undoubtedly hire another designer from her studio.

He figured that the style wouldn’t be too different if they were from the same studio. He felt he should also specifically request Naomi by name when they contacted the studio. Just as Madelyn had said, they had to try their luck.

Their conversation shifted from real estate to jewelry.

Kevin looked at Andrew before saying, “Are diamond factories getting into rough design now? You know this requires good designers.”

Andrew nodded.

“Yes. Several top designers have already applied for the job.”

Kevin nodded in response and said nothing more.

Roger was primarily involved in the field of medicine. Hence, he wasn’t knowledgable in these matters and couldn’t offer much advice.

However, they had all witnessed Andrew’s capabilities over the past few years. Miller Group was steadily advancing in all aspects.

Miller Group’s domestic reputation was reasonably strong, especially since Andrew took charge. It had attracted numerous high–end talents.

Moreover, they were also nurturing new talents. That year, many in the industry wanted to participate in a coveted opportunity, but the spots were limited.

After lunch, Roger said, “I’ll return to the hospital first. What about you, Kevin?”
