Chapter 749 Side Story: Childhood Sweetheart 9
Liam's remark prompted Alice to apply a bit more pressure, causing Liam to wince in pain and exclaim,
"What are you doing? Trying to murder your husband?"
"If you utter such nonsense again, I won't just increase the force; it'll be more than that," she warned
him.
Alice took a towel and nonchalantly rolled it around his face twice.
Liam protested, "Why is that nonsense? What's wrong with being my girlfriend?"
In Damoria where everyone seemed to vie for the role, Alice was the one who didn't seem to care at
all, despite growing up together with him.
"Perhaps other women are dying to be your girlfriend, but I genuinely have zero interest in you," she
retorted.
She tossed the towel into his lap and remarked, "You can handle this yourself. I'll be in trouble if I don't
head home soon."
As Alice stepped out, Liam promptly followed.
"I'll walk you back," he offered.
Alice scoffed. "No need. I can manage on my own, and the subway is pretty convenient."
"Alright, it's settled then," Liam said while extending his hand to clasp her wrist, guiding her toward his
nearby car. "Get in."
Alice was far from enthusiastic about getting into his flashy pink sports car, but he was smiling at her
wickedly. She knew that Liam wouldn't take no for an answer, so she reluctantly took a seat.
Throughout the drive, Alice deliberately avoided looking at Liam, keeping her gaze fixed on the scenery
outside.
"Is the view really that captivating? Does it surpass me?" he teased.
His words carried a hint of playfulness.
Alice took a deep breath and replied, "I don't think I need your opinion on what I should be looking at." Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
"You're quite an enigma. You're polite and well-mannered with the others, but with me, you don't have a
filter. Why's that?" Liam mused aloud, then smirked in self-assurance. "I've got it figured out. You're just
more comfortable and at ease with me, which is why you're so direct, right?"
"Conceited much?"
"Nevertheless, I enjoy this kind of interaction with you. You're different from other women," he admitted.
Suddenly, Alice turned to him and said flatly, "I'm not different from other women. I'm simply not
interested in you."
Though she spoke those words, Liam seemed oblivious as he continued his self-indulgent musings.
"Well, I quite like this dynamic. If you were interested in me, I probably wouldn't be as intrigued by you
as I am now."
So, he's attracted to what he can't have?
Alice rolled her eyes internally but remained composed externally.
Not long after, they reached the vicinity of Damazio Residence. As Alice got out of the car and bid him
farewell, she was taken aback to find him trailing behind her.
"Shall we go in together? It's been a while since I had Miss Sullivan's cooking," he suggested.
Everyone knew Yelena wasn't exactly skilled in the kitchen. That was merely an excuse and a ploy to
visit Alice's home.
Alice's irritation was palpable, yet she couldn't prevent him from tagging along. She resignedly followed
him inside.
Upon entering her home, Alice realized the situation wasn't as straightforward as she initially thought.
Seated on the couch were two individuals—Damian and Ethan.
Damian, as usual, was immaculately dressed. He looked like he had just gotten back from the school.
His cold gaze, accompanied by a small mole near his eye, gave him an intriguing allure.
Ethan, on the other hand, exuded a chilly aloofness. His mere presence sent shivers down the spine;
he was a master of intimidation.
They were currently engrossed in conversation. Damian's lips were curled up gently, his demeanor
more genial. Ethan, known for his detachment, seemed unusually approachable.
Uncertain of whom to address first, Alice hesitated before finally greeting them one by one.
"Why does this girl address everyone so reverently except me?" Liam quipped, standing by her side.
His annoyance evident, he bent his fingers and playfully tapped her head with his knuckle.
With a pained expression, Alice rubbed her head and let out a yelp, causing the smiles that had graced
the lips of the two guys on the couch to freeze.
"Be nice to her, and she'll naturally address you with reverence." Ethan's tone was detached, but his
favor toward Alice was evident.
"As if I want her to be that reverent toward me." Liam grinned playfully, putting an arm around Alice
affectionately and pulling her into his embrace. "After all, I'm the one who's going to marry Ally."
His words sent shockwaves through the room.
Ethan merely displayed mild disapproval because he didn't think Liam was worthy of Alice, while
Damian...
Feeling Damian's scorching gaze on her and Liam, Alice squirmed uncomfortably. She extricated
herself from Liam's embrace.
With a soft, soothing tone, Cameron interrupted, "Dinner's ready. Now that Ally's back, let's eat."
In just a few words, the tension was diffused.
Alice felt a surge of gratitude as she hurried to the dining table and selected the most secluded spot.
Thinking that sitting in a corner would keep her safe from any disturbances, Alice was taken aback
when Liam chose to sit right next to her. Not only that, he grinned teasingly and said, "I can't figure out
who you're avoiding."
Alice instinctively glanced at Damian, relieved to find him seated a bit farther away. She sighed in relief.
Afterward, she looked at Liam beside her and smiled cheerfully. Under the table, she gave him a solid
kick. Liam couldn't make any sound and could only twist his face into a contorted smile. Then, with
trembling hands, he gently picked up a rib and placed it on Alice's plate.
"Ally, aren't you a big fan of ribs?"
Alice's nerves tensed for a moment. She picked up the rib, only to place it back onto Liam's plate,
saying, "Sorry, I don't feel like eating it."
Liam didn't mind and picked up the rib to put in his mouth, smiling with his eyes narrowed. "Ribs taste
better when you serve them, Ally."
Is this guy trying to provoke me?
Alice cursed him in her heart countless times. Just as she was silently venting her frustration, a slender
hand appeared in her vision. Then, a piece of meat appeared on her plate.
Alice raised her head. She knew Damian had placed that piece of meat there.
However, she didn't eat fatty meat.
Before she could even furrow her brows, Liam's face had already turned sour.
