Chapter 11 New Assistant
Chapter 11 New Assistant
That night, Charlotte thought a lot. Her past memories were like a tide, constantly rising and ebbing in
her mind, making her unable to fall asleep. She hadn't gotten over her father's death. In order to find
out the truth, she had no other choice. She believed that working as Oliver's assistant was not that hard
and she would be able to cope with it.
On the early morning of the second day, Charlotte dressed neatly and walked out of the villa. Oliver's
car stopped outside the gate. When the driver saw Charlotte, he respectfully made a gesture and then
opened the door for her.
Even though Charlotte had been mentally prepared, she still paused for a moment when she saw
Oliver. Then she pretended to be calm and got into the car.
"What do I need to do as your assistant?" Charlotte asked tentatively.
Oliver glanced at her and said nothing.
Charlotte murmured to herself, "Of course I have to do a lot of things."
Oliver forced a smile and said, "Do you want to bargain with me?"
His cold smile made Charlotte a little nervous.
"No, I don't!" Charlotte held back her retort and explained weakly, "I didn't mean anything else. I'm just
curious."
Oliver remained silent.
The car soon arrived at the Shen Group building, and Charlotte got off the car with Oliver. As soon as
they entered the gate, four or five men in suits surrounded them. They opened the folders in their
hands in order to report to Oliver. Charlotte followed him, like an outsider who had been forgotten.
"Excuse me. Please show me your ID card." When she passed the front desk, Charlotte was stopped.
It didn't feel good to be looked up and down. Charlotte frowned and called, "Oliver... Mr. Oliver!"
Charlotte's voice was not loud, but it could just be heard. Oliver looked back, but didn't stop. He said to
Charlotte in a cold voice, "Come in."
Charlotte followed them into the elevator, leaving everyone stunned. 'Few people can enter that private
elevator. Who is this woman? Why is she so close to Mr. Oliver? Look at her seductive face. Is she Mr.
Oliver's lover?' the staff around thought to themselves.
"Mr. Oliver, this document needs your approval."
After entering the elevator, Oliver waved his hand to stop the man from talking. He pointed at Charlotte
and said, "Give it to her."
Charlotte immediately took the document and introduced herself to everyone, "I'm Mr. Oliver's
assistant. My surname is Shao."
They greeted each other. No one dared to say anything rude to her in front of Oliver. The elevator soon
reached the twenty-fourth floor.
The sudden appearance of Charlotte made the Shen Group in an uproar. In just a few minutes, this
unknown assistant had been well-known throughout the company. Everyone guessed if she was the
CEO's new favorite or the future mistress of the Shen Group. At the same time, the woman whom
everyone was discussing about was kissing passionately with Oliver in the CEO's office.
Oliver was proving with his actions that the staff's conjecture was correct.
Charlotte was breathless and trembling. She pushed him away, stood up unsteadily and tightened her
collar vigilantly. "What are you doing?!"
"What do you think I bring you here for?" Oliver smiled at Charlotte and said, "You know the answer."
"I'm here to be your assistant!" Charlotte was a little embarrassed and blushed. "I'm not here... to be
your pet!"
Oliver didn't want to argue with her. He picked up a folder and looked through it. "What do you think the
whole company thinks of you today? Do you really think anyone can be my assistant?"
Oliver smiled and looked playfully at Charlotte's red face. He felt that it was not bad to have a new
assistant.
"At least I can!" Charlotte stood in front of Oliver's desk and stressed every word she said, "I can be
your assistant!"
Oliver lowered his head, as if he hadn't heard Charlotte's words at all. It seemed that a century had
passed. Oliver slowly raised his head and tapped the table with his fingertips. The walls in the room
turned transparent and a woman pushed the door open.
"Mr. Oliver," she said respectfully.
"Mandy, I want you and the other four assistants hand over your job to this new assistant. You guys can
have a holiday now."
"Yes, sir."
Charlotte could tell from Oliver's words that he wanted her to do five people's work, and she was
shocked.
"What do you mean?" Charlotte asked.
"What? Didn't you say you could do it?" Oliver placed the cap on his pen and looked up at Charlotte.
"It's very simple. Follow Mandy to do the handover."
He would really like to see how long this woman could do this.
Looking at Oliver's teasing eyes, Charlotte turned around and left reluctantly.
"By the way," Oliver said in a slightly frivolous tone, "don't forget to hear what people in the company
say about you."
Charlotte walked towards the door step by step. When she was about to open the door, she heard
Mandy talking on the phone outside.
"I can't believe that newcomer is the president's assistant!
Judging from her seductive look, she couldn't be a good woman. Maybe she has slept with someone to
become Mr. Oliver's assistant.
She just wants money!"
Hearing this, Charlotte clenched her fists, took a deep breath and pushed the door open.
Mandy stopped talking when she saw Charlotte. Charlotte glanced at her indifferently and said nothing.
Even though being treated like this, Charlotte still preserved her self-esteem.
Mandy quickly handed over her job, but Charlotte was confused about everything and could not
remember it at all.
"Uh... Mandy, can you speak more slowly, please?" Charlotte asked.
Mandy took a look at Charlotte and said, "Why are you here if you can't even remember these simple
things?"
Mandy was Oliver's No.1 special assistant, and she knew him best. She could see that Oliver wanted
to make trouble for Charlotte, so she, as his special assistant, surely would do that for him.
"I..." Charlotte opened her mouth and wanted to explain, but when she looked at Mandy's disdainful
eyes, she recalled the slander she heard on the way just now.
"What's wrong with her? She must be some old man's lover and he made her the president's
assistant!"
"Yes, she's an empty vase!"
The employees gathered together and whispered to each other about Charlotte, and she heard them.
But in order to protect her father's company and find out the truth of his death, she wouldn't give up.
"Mandy, please say it again. I will remember everything!" Charlotte rearranged her features and said
with a smile.
Mandy was surprised to see Charlotte's face changed so quickly. She had thought that the empty vase,
who was disliked by Mr. Oliver, would cry and run out to find someone to complain, but she didn't.
But after all, Mandy was a professional assistant. She quickly calmed herself down and explain every
item to Charlotte, "First, you need to arrange these documents and bring them to Mr. Oliver for
signature. There is a headquarters meeting at ten o'clock, and remember to remind him of that. And
you need to order food for him at half past eleven..."
"Which restaurant does he like? And what flavors does he like?" In fact, Charlotte became serious as
soon as she got to work. She would naturally notice the small details that were easy to ignore but
would cause big problems.
Hearing her question, Mandy looked at Charlotte in a different way. She guessed that this woman might Content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
not be just an empty vase.
Mandy quickly handed her a business card and said, "Mr. Oliver only eats takeout from this restaurant.
Don't make mistakes about the flavors."
After telling the other four assistants what to do today, Mandy quickly went home from work. She must
seize such a good opportunity of paid vacation.
After all, an icy CEO like Oliver was very strict, and the pressure of working in front of him every day
was extraordinary. Thinking of this, Mandy suddenly felt a little sympathy for Charlotte.
Although Charlotte was a top student in the business school, she had little experience working in a real
company, not to mention she had to manage five people's workload now. Charlotte hurriedly began to
sort out the documents. When she almost finished, it was already half past ten. Looking at the watch,
Charlotte suddenly realized she had forgotten to remind Oliver of the meeting.
Charlotte rushed into Oliver's office and found that Oliver was not there.
She was stunned at the door and didn't know what to do. Suddenly, a deep voice came from behind
her. "What? Are you giving up after just a few hours?"
Charlotte turned around and saw Oliver standing behind her.
"I..." Charlotte wanted to retort, but she remembered that she did make an mistake just now, so she
didn't say anything more. When she was in the student union of the school, the thing that impressed
her the most was that explanation was useless, and the teacher or leader only cared about the result.
Oliver pushed Charlotte away and walked into his office. He said to her, "Why are you still standing
there? Is this what you can prove to me? To be a wooden woman? Huh."
"No, but I'm doing five people's job all by myself! Of course I will make mistakes!" Charlotte explained.
Although she kept telling herself not to be angry and not to go against Oliver, she couldn't stand his
sarcastic tone anymore.
"Close the door. Come here," Oliver said coldly. "Do you want to be watched by them how you climbed
into my bed? Give them a demonstration?"
Oliver also heard the staff's discussion, but he didn't take it seriously. It was not bad to flirt with
Charlotte now.
Charlotte slammed the door angrily, blocking all the gossips and curious eyes outside.
"What? You want to give up so soon? If you beg me now, I may consider letting you go," Oliver said
playfully.
