Chapter 28
“No.” Shelmaine denied it, though she found it laughable herself.
She was practically mocking Samvel as well as herself.
“Your tone doesn’t sound like you aren’t angry,” Samuel said.
He remembered Shelmaine as someone who was gentle and had a good temper. She’d used to be affectionate and sweet with him too.
Now, Shelmaine simply hit her lip and remained silent.
From what she knew of Samuel, he would either take full responsibility or, like during their divorce, offer compensation and have the child terminated.
He would likely choose the latter.
But Shelmaine couldn’t bring herself to terminate the pregnancy, and she didn’t plan to force him to take responsibility either. After all, she was capable of raising the child on her own and could handle the consequences.
Thus, the decision to keep or terminate the pregnancy was hers alone, not his
After thinking for a moment, she said, “Are you worried that it’ll affect your relationship with Ms. Green?
“Mr. Hasting, don’t worry. I won’t interfere with you. The child is mine alone, and no one else will know. If you’re really concerned, we can sign an agreement. I assure you I won’t.
Her words were cut off by the sudden ring of Samuel’s phone.
He glanced at it without answering. Then, after ending the call, he told Shelmaine, “We’ll talk about this later when you’re feeling better.”
Right now, shelmaine’s face was still pale.
Shelmaine thought that it was for the best too. She didn’t want to see him either and needed rest anyway.
Not long after Samuel left, Isabelle arrived.
“How are you feeling, Shelly? Isabelle was worried sick and examined Shelmaine from head to toe to make sure that she was okay. “I’m fine. What are y you doing here?” Shelmaine asked.
“I called, and your colleague answered. That’s how I found out you fainted trushed over to see you, but there was traffic on the way.”
Upon seeing Shelmaine’s pale lips, Isabelle was heartbroken. This was the second time Shelmaine had fainted. “You really need to take care of yourself!”
Shelmaine gave her a small, wry smile. “Samuel lonows I’m pregnant.”
“What?” Isabelle’s eyes widened. “What did he say?”
“He said he wants to talk in a few days.”
“That’s a problem. Since he knows, Natasha will definitelyt indout too. With her personality, she won’t let it go so easily. She’ll come after you for sure.” “Don’t worry about me. I’ll be careful
But Isabelle was frustrated on Shelmaine’s behalf. She said, “It’s all that jerk, Samuel’s, fault. Even after the divorce, he’s still making things difficult for you. You’re the one who’s

ther and said, “It’s alright. We’ll see what he wants to discuss. I anticipated he might findout, but I didn’t expect it to happen so soon. It’s my fault for
“Don’t blame yourself“It’s not entirely your fault. But honestly, it’ll be hard to hide once your belly starts showing, Since you’re still working here, Natasha will find out eventually too. What we need to do now is find a way to guard against her.”
Isabelle suddenly thought of an idea and whispered it to Shelmaine.
Shelmaine frowned and shook her head. “I’ve never met his parents. I don’t know their attitude.”
Isabelle suggested that if it came to a worst–case scenario, Shelmaine should reach out to Samuel’s family. His parents couldn’t be unreasonable forever, and even if they were difficult to deal with, the child still belonged to the Hasting family.
At least this could prevent Natashatcom causing further trouble.Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
Isabelle added, “They’re influential. They shouldn’t be so heartless as to disown their own flesh and blood.
“It’s a last resort. Since Natasha kreps making things difficult for you, we can’t let her have it easy!”
