Love Me The Way I Did

Chapter 12

Chapter 12

Margaret spent the next few days on high alert, hyper–aware of her surroundings whenever she left her house, just in case Gideon was lurking around. She also checked the receptionist desk more often than usual, worried she might find strange packages from Gideon

However, things seemed to have returned to normal. Neither Gideon nor his strange packages and gifts had appeared.

Nonetheless, Margaret did not let her guard down. She had a feeling that Gideon was plotting something.

Little did she know, Gideon had no intention of letting her off the hook. The peace she now had was temporary, for Gideon had been called away on business.

There was no point in playing games if he couldn’t be there to see Margaret’s reaction in person. He thought he would be generous and offer her a few days‘ reprieve.

Margaret finally let her guard down when five days had passed, and Gideon had not come to torment her. That was why she almost bared her teeth at him when she bumped into him below her apartment.

“What are you doing here?” she asked, raising her voice. She was also curious about how he had obtained her address.

“It makes sense for me to be where you are,” Gideon replied sweetly. However, his words sent a chill down Margaret’s spine. Her instincts, coupled with her years of understanding Gideon, led her to believe that he was up to no good.

“What do you want?” Margaret asked, stepping back to keep a safe distance from him.

“A meal with you,”

“Gideon replied as he reached out to put an arm around Margaret’s shoulders. Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.

Seeming to have anticipated the gesture, Margaret quickly dodged it.

Gideon’s arm swiped the air, but he remained calm as he pulled it back and commanded, “Let’s go!”

“No,” she refused.

“I wasn’t asking for your permission, Margaret,” he stated.

Margaret replied, “I’m not going, I made myself clear the other day, and I don’t mind explaining it to you again if you’re still confused…” Abruptly, Gideon leaned forward, interrupting her. His long eyelashes fluttered when he blinked, drawing all of her attention.

Countless women had flocked to Gideon, and for good reason. His impressive net worth and stunning good looks made him the object of every woman’s desire. Women could never resist drooling over him wherever he went.

Margaret used to be one of those women. She had a tough life back then, so she couldn’t resist the temptation of beautiful things.

But if she had known how things would end up like that, she would have slapped some sense into herself and stayed away from Gideon. “You still have feelings for me, don’t you, Margaret?” Gideon said. He had always had a rakish air about him, and when he turned on his charms, it was hard for anyone to pull away. Margaret was a case in point.

She was so distracted that she almost nodded in response. Just as her chin was about to drop, she snapped to her senses and immediately shook her head

“Don’t flatter yourself, Gideon. I’ve never had feelings for you,” she said, seething as she pushed him away. She needed fresh air, not the air that had been tainted by Gideon’s breath.

He chuckled but did not argue with her. “In that case, why don’t we have a meal together as old friends and celebrate your homecoming?”

“I’d rather not. I have to go now. My boyfriend is waiting for me at home,” Margaret lied. She didn’t care if Gideon believed her. As she walked around him to go home, she thought about getting a new place to live.

However, she knew Gideon well. He would be able to track her down no matter where she moved in this city. It would only take him half a day to find her new address. There was no point in getting a new place.

mean Clifford? If I remember correctly, he’s attending a medical conference. I doubt he’s waiting for you at home,” Gideon said, exposing Margaret’s lies.
