Chapter 30

Chapter 30 He is My Husband When the police arrived at the scene, Anthony was pushing Clarissa.

Both of them were taken away to the police station.

Josephi followed them by driving his car, but he could only wall outside. The sky was getting darker.

Soon, It rained. Joseph’s Impatience kept growing. In the end, Clarissa was asked to contact her

relatives or friends so they could bail her out.

Clarissa was afraid of Damien’s reaction after finding out about this incident, so she did not call him.

Besides, their relationship was only on a surface level, Damien was not responsible for her.

Thus, she dialed Luke’s number.

“What do you want? I have no money.”

Almost immediately, Luke hung up.

After drugging Clarissa, Luke got a scolding from Joseph and was almost fired. Since his ploy had

failed, he was in deep trouble. How could be possibly help the person whom he had a grudge against?

The beeping sound made Clarissa see! embarrassed. Her own brother had hung up on her without a

second thought.

She was not surprised, but Luke was still her relative.

Furthermore, slie did not want to burden Joseph.

The policeman asked, “Can’t reach anyone?”

“No.”

Clarissa was somewhat aggrieved. The policeman looked up her social connections in the official

database. He found out that she was actually married to the famous Damien Lawrence. Hence, he

gave Damien a call. “She was in a fight?” Damien was astounded. Regardless, he cooperated and

said, “I’m coming.” Upon his arrival, the policeman told him what had happened in detail. Damien’s

expression slowly turned sour. After posting bail, Clarissa was released. While standing in front of the

police station, Damien asked, “Getting unwanted attention in an accounting class?” He lit a cigarette

and continued, “Are you aware that you’re married now?”

“How much did it cost to bail me out? I’ll pay you back. Sorry to bother you.” Clarissa knew she was to

blame. At the same time, she could not shake the feeling of being wronged.

Darnsen teased, ‘You want to pay it back? It’s 0,000 dollars.” The situation greatly amused

This woman, who just extracted a million dollars from him a few days ago, wanted to pay him back sex

thousand dollars.

“Better now than later.”

Clarissa took out her phone and transferred six thousand dollars to him immediately.

Damien did not even look at his phone, let alone check the transfer. To him, it was pointless.

Clarissa pleaded, “Please don’t tell your grandfather.”

“That’s your problem, not mine.”

Damien walked away.

Carrying her bag, Clarissa chased after him.

It was dark. The rain continued to fall.

Damien did not have an umbrella with him. He did not like it and just walked in the rain. Raindrops that

fell onto his hair looked like little dew drops. Clarissa spaceci out.

Initially, she was walking beside Damien. However, his strides were so large that she could not keep

up.

Gradually, she fell behind.

She took a few trotting steps toward him and hovered her bag above his head.

Clarissa had to tiptoe while walking because Damien was way taller than her. “Why do you refuse to

use an umbrella when it rains?”

She sounded genuinely concerned.

“What is you catch a cold?” As Damien glanced at her, a slight frown formed across his forehead. Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

“My car is not far away. Besides, I seldom get wet from the rain.”

His explanation was short and concise.

Clarissa nagged, “Still, you should bring along an umbrella.”

He kept quiet

When they arrived at the parking garage, Josephi was there. Upon seeing Clarissa, le quickly

approached her to inquire about what had happened.

Damien’s expression became even darker and more intense.

Clarissa felt more awkward than ever. Damien had just criticized her for her knack to attract unwanted

attention.

“What’s your relationship with her?”

Joseph saw how Clarissa attempted to flatter Damien by blocking the rain for him. He shot him a

chilling gaze.

Damien turned over to Clarissa and asked accusingly, “You didn’t tell him?” He was frowning.

Clarissa stayed silent. She wanted to dig a deep hole and hide inside. “Why didn’t you bail her out?”

Damien questioned Joseph. “I don’t know what’s going on inside. No one called me.” Damien smirked

ever-so-slightly. “The policeman called me though.” “Clarissa, you told the police that he was your

friend, right?” Joseph was a bit nervous. “You could have called me too. I don’t mind a little trouble.”

Damien smiled sarcastically and turned to look at Clarissa again. Clarissa was subconsciously tapping

her toes. She had been doing it ever since this confrontation started. Things did not look good.

“The police did a background check. He… He’s my husband.”

Joseph was speechless.
