Love At Last

Chapter 31 – A very bad morning.

Lily’s POV

God, what did I do?

I just couldn’t stop pacing around the room. I don’t even know what to do. I had already promised Cayden that I was going to get him a second date and now? Everything is ruined and it’s all because of my stupid attitude.

I should have just left the poor lady to hate kids just like she wanted to, instead of forcing my own opinion on her. The fact that she actually thinks Cayden is the one that was texting her, is even worse.

I stopped pacing around the room like a crazy person and I started thinking about what I was going to do.

Out of frustration, I started scratching my head and biting my fingernails. Anyone that sees me right now, is going to think that I’m a crazy person.

Well, I’m actually crazy because if I don’t find a solution to this, then I’m going to be crazy for real.

“Okay, this is going to be fine. Yes, it is. I’m really sure Cayden can’t kill me, can he?” I started talking to myself, so I wouldn’t go completely crazy.

“Oh no, he can.” I wailed loudly and I fell on my bed. This is not good at all.

A thought suddenly came to my head and I jolted from the bed. The fact that the second date says she doesn’t think the date can’t work doesn’t actually mean she wouldn’t come, does it? No, it doesn’t.

I don’t even have to tell Cayden about this. He doesn’t have to know at all and he won’t.

A miracle might still happen and she would just think about everything and still come for the date.

Yes, that’s really possible and miracles do happen.

I suddenly started feeling a little bit relieved because I hope and think the lady is going to come for the date. Then, Cayden wouldn’t have to kill me.

So, it’s a win-win? That’s settled then.

To make her come, to encourage her, I could just send roses and some gifts to her. Yes, that would work.

I went to bed with a smile on my face, knowing that that was no issue that needed an immediate solution. Everything is already planned out and they will definitely go as planned.

So, I thought…

The night went by really fast and before I knew it, it was morning already. I got ready and headed to the bakery.

While I was getting ready for the bakery, I couldn’t help but to think about what I was forgetting. I felt like I was forgetting something, but I just couldn’t place my hand on it. I decided to move it aside and concentrate on my work for today. This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

The breakfast rush was really crazy and I continued serving all customers myself without complaining since it wasn’t noon anyway.

I had finished serving everyone, when someone walked into the bakery looking really neat, just like how everyone does every morning.

He sat at a table and he ordered his breakfast. As usual, I got it arranged and took it to him with a bright smile on my face. I usually serve my customers with a smile on my face, so even if anyone was having a bad day, they would instantly feel better.

Many minutes later, the customer that I had served earlier, called me to his table and I answered him.

“Do you need anything, sir?” I said politely, while I waited for an answer.

“Yes. Can I see your working area?” He said and he looked into my eyes.

My working area? Isn’t that trespassing for a customer? Wow.

“No, sir. That’s out of bounds for customers.” I said again, politely and just when I was about to leave, the man called me back.

“It wouldn’t take up to a minute.” The man said again. He obviously wasn’t ready to listen to what I said. Ugh. I really don’t want to have a bad morning.

“Like I said earlier, you can’t. Sir.” I was becoming impatient now and this man is just making it worse.

“Just a minute, Miss. It isn’t hard at all.”

Okay, now the man was being weird and a little bit rude. Who asks to see a worker’s working area? He isn’t my boss or anything, he’s just a normal customer and he’s still asking for my working area? Such effrontery!

“I already told you that you can’t and you’re still persistent with your weird request. Don’t you have a job to get to?” I said angrily and the man just continued staring at me.

“It’s just a simple reques-” I instantly cut him off. He had already made me angry and spoiled my morning already.

“No, it’s not. You can leave now and please, get a job.” I said and I hissed. I walked away from him and I went back to my working area.

A few seconds later, the man came to where I was.

“What do you want?” I said scornfully and I hissed. The man just smiled at me and he started speaking, “I’m the supervisor that’s meant…”

Immediately the man said that he was the supervisor, my mind just went off and I didn’t even hear the rest of his sentence.

The supervisor? And I was so rude to him. Oh God, I didn’t even know what to do. I had already destroyed everything because of my anger and impatience.

The man didn’t even tell me that he was coming at all. I didn’t even know what to do, I just continued staring at the man.

“Didn’t you receive the mail that I sent to you concerning this?” He asked me and that snapped me out of my thoughts.

“No. I didn’t.” It suddenly felt like I couldn’t talk properly now. My voice that was really loud minutes ago, was now barely a whisper.

“Okay. I’ll score you now.” The man said and he scored me right there, in front of me. I looked away from him to blink away the tears that were threatening to drop.

“You cook really well, but your hospitality skill needs… a little bit of work, Miss Lily.”

The man gave me a mocking smile and he turned to leave. He hadn’t taken up to four steps, when he turned back to say something to me,

“And yes, Miss Lily, I do have a job.” And with that, he turned around and he left me to regret my actions.
