Chapter 74 Framed

After returning to school, Maggie was busy with her thesis. As graduation approached, there were few classes in the school, and most students were basically doing internships. However, the students would come back when there were school events.

Maggie and the others were majoring in architectural design. Their entire graduation project was divided into three parts, and there would be three assessments. At that moment, it was time for the first assessment, so many people were coming and going from school.

Two o’clock in the afternoon.

After lunch. Maggie arrived at the dormitory and saw a group of people gathered inside and outside the dormitory, including the teacher and the head of the department.

“What’s going on? Why are there so many people?”

“I heard that someone lost something very valuable, but I don’t know what it is?”

“Was there a thief? We’ve had things stolen from the dormitory building before.”

“It’s different this time. I heard it’s worth hundreds and thousands in jewelry.”

Upon hearing this, many students around them gasped.

First Institute was not an aristocratic school, but the most prestigious higher education institution in the country. Therefore, the students on campus were mostly ordinary people who had entered based on their own abilities. So, it was not common to encounter items worth millions of dollars.

Of course, First Institute also had specialized colleges to enroll the children of wealthy and noble families. Mia was in that department, and she was on the same campus as Maggie, so they often saw each other.

“Maggie, you’re back. Someone spotted Maggie and greeted her before making way for her.

“Who lost something?” Maggie spoke gently.

“I think it’s Vanessa. I heard she lost a bracelet worth hundreds of thousands…”

Maggie remained silent, and as she approached, she could see the scene inside.

Several police officers and school leaders were questioning the situation while taking notes, “What does the bracelet look like? Are you sure it was lost inside the school?”

“I’m sure. I just returned to school this morning. After that, I headed to the classroom to revise my paper. I didn’t have time to touch anything” Vanessa, with exquisite makeup, looked anxious.

“Where did you put the bracelet? Did anyone enter the dormitory after you left?”

The police continued to inquire, and the other two roommates in the dormitory shook their heads. “We also came back early in the morning, but we just returned a moment ago, so we haven’t seen any bracelet belonging to Vanessa.

As soon as they said that, Vanessa noticed Maggie’s presence and hurriedly said, “Maggie, you’re back. Did you touch my things? I lost a diamond bracelet.”

Following Vanessa’s gaze, the police officer asked, “Is this the final roommate?”

“Yes.”

Maggie’s eyes were calm. She could feel that Vanessa was up to something again.

Yes, she and the two–faced Vanessa were roommates. Although she rarely stayed in the dormitory, she had been close to Vanessa because she had been deceived by her in the past, and their relationship had always been good.

“Maggie, Vanessa lost a bracelet. Have you seen it?” The teacher spoke gently.

“No.” Maggie denied decisively.

Upon hearing this, Vanessa’s voice trembled as she sobbed, “That bracelet is very important to me. What am I going to do now that it’s lost?”

The kind–hearted police officer comforted her, “Don’t worry, we have already sent someone to check the hallway surveillance.”

Before he could finish speaking, the officer who went to check the surveillance hurried back and looked at Maggie. According to the surveillance footage, she’s the only one who returned to the dorm at noon after Vanessa left the dorm.” Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

“Did Maggie take it? It seems unlikely

“But why would Vanessa bring such an expensive item to school?”

The students around began to discuss among themselves as tears welled up in Vanessa’s eyes. She then gazed at the police officer and said, “Maggie and I have always had a good relationship. Despite recent misunderstandings, she would never do something like this. Are you certain no one else entered the

dorm?”

Shaking his head, the police officer replied, “No, the other two students arrived before you at 7 am. Then, you arrived at 9 am, and Maggie arrived at 11 am. No one else entered during that time.”

With red eyes, Vanessa glanced at Maggie. After hesitating for a while, she murmured, “Forget it, let’s just say I accidentally misplaced it.”

Upon hearing what Vanessa said, Maggie smirked.

This self–directed drama was in line with Vanessa’s usual style. Judging from Vanessa’s reluctance to pursue the matter, it was evident that she was trying to implicate Maggie.

“This cannot be overlooked. You just mentioned that this bracelet was very important to you,” the teacher interjected, expressing disbelief in Maggie’s involvement and emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation.

“Let’s forget it. I’ll just think of this as my own carelessness,” Vanessa responded, appearing magnanimous.

Maggie smiled faintly and remarked, “By saying ‘think of this, it could lead to misunderstandings. If you lose something, you have to investigate.”

The police, satisfied with Maggie’s cooperation, nodded and asked, “Maggie, would you mind if we search your belongings first? You have the right to refuse.”

“Go ahead,” Maggie agreed, unfazed after noticing that her bag had been tampered with.

Vanessa did not know that she had not planned to stay overnight at school, so that was why Maggie had only brought a bag for her computer and files. Due to her design background, she had the tendency to be a little OCD in certain aspects,

For example, whenever she put down her bag and computer, she had to line them with the desk neatly.

Now, even though the bag was still in the same location on the desk, it had been shifted slightly. Maggie felt a little uncomfortable by just looking at that.

The police donned gloves and meticulously examined the contents of Maggie’s bag while placing them on

the table.

It soon became apparent that a white velvet jewelry box, not belonging to Maggie, stood out among items.

In the next moment, Vanessa, looking anxious, stood up from her chair and identified the jewelry box as hers. “That’s mine….

However, she hesitated and glanced at Maggie before abruptly stopping, showcasing her acting skills.

Even Maggie had to praise her for her acting skills.

She looked as if she was dying to let people know that Maggie was the one who took her expensive bracelet

The police officer then opened the jewelry box to reveal a dazzling diamond bracelet. “Vanessa, is this bracelet yours?”

Vanessa hesitated. Shortly after, she looked at Maggic with reservations before finally admitting. “It’s mine, I just don’t know how it ended up in Maggie’s bag.”
