“Okay, okay, I heard you,” Nathael muttered, smiling as he spoke in a low tone.
Maggie felt choked up, glaring at him before finally finding her voice.
They strolled along the commercial street for a good while, and it wasn’t until more than an hour later that the hustle and bustle of the shops and crowds on both sides finally settled down.
Maggie wandered around for a bit and felt less stuffed. They took a stroll through an alley and onto a road, planning to head back soon.
Suddenly, Nathael’s phone rang. Glancing at the number, he said quietly, “I’ll take this call.”
“Sure.” Maggie replied, nodding as she followed beside him.
It seemed to be related to work. Some project seemed to be facing issues, prolonging Nathael’s call.
At first, Maggie patiently waited by his side. But as time passed, she couldn’t help but feel bored, so she wandered over to a few scattered stalls on both sides of the road to see what was happening.
Most of the stalls here sold handmade items, including some adorable hand–woven pendants. Maggie picked out a pair of star and moon pendants, planning to hang them on her laptop bag.
Thinking of Mia and Joyce, Maggie also chose a pattern of a little duck and a little bear, buying four in
total.

Nathael stood not far behind her under the streetlight while he patiently listened to the phone call, never taking his eyes off Maggie.
After buying the pendants, Maggie went to check out a flower stall.
An old lady in her sixties or seventies sold the flowers. She sat on a small stool with two large vases in front of her, filled with flowers. Some were no longer fresh, but others looked decent. It was clear that the old lady didn’t know much about flowers.
“Would you like to buy some flowers, dear? Two dollars each. Pick your favourite,” the old lady said kindly, her wrinkled face displaying warmth.
Maggie was a bit surprised. Even though some of the flowers weren’t very fresh, two dollars each was already the cheapest in a place like Aquapolis.
“I’ll take a few. Maggie scanned around, realising she had never given Nathael flowers before. She patiently selected them.
She picked carefully, but as she did, she couldn’t help but feel a bit distracted.
There were so many things they hadn’t experienced together, and she really wanted to do them all over again.
But time was limited, and there were so many things they hadn’t done together. She couldn’t think of them all at once.
But it was important to cherish what they had. Maggie felt that these were the happiest days of her life

Regaining her focus, Maggie continued to pick out the bouquet. She chose six or seven champagne and white roses, a few bellflowers, and chrysanthemums, and finally added some goldenrods.
And just like that, a simple bouquet was complete.
“Wow, young lady, you have quite the knack. These flowers look much better with your arrangement, the old lady said with a smile.
Maggie responded warmly, “Flowers always look good, no matter how they’re arranged. Everyone just has different tastes.
Before she could finish her sentence, the old lady seemed to want to say something else, but suddenly, there was a loud bang, and someone kicked the two flower vases in front of them, sending them flying!
Ah!”
The loud noise startled several nearby stalls and pedestrians, causing some of them to scream instinctively.
Maggie was also startled and immediately stood up.
She turned around, only to realise that she was surrounded by several tough–looking individuals, with the leader being particularly fierce. His shaved head was gleaming, and he had a long scar at the corner of his eye, marring an otherwise decent face.
“Old lady, this has nothing to do with you! Get out of here!” a guy with blond hair next to him said impatiently to the flower–selling old lady.
“Are you Maggie?” the leader asked coldly, his eyes checking out the woman in front of him.
Well, she’s quite a looker. Too bad she offended someone.
“Sorry, wrong person, Maggie replied coolly as she lied through her teeth.
But it was clear the other side wasn’t buying it
try.
The guy whipped out a photo, glanced at Maggie, then turned it toward her with a sneer. “Nice You’re obviously the person in this photo!”
Before Maggie could say anything, he went on, “Ms. Adam, come with us! If you satisfy us, we’ll make sure you come back in one piece, but if you’re not cooperative, I can’t promise what’ll happen to you!”
He reached for Maggie’s arm, trying to grab her and push her toward the nearby van.
Maggie didn’t flinch. She just grinned and said, “I don’t mind fooling around with you, but aren’t you guys hired to cause trouble? Where’s your professionalism?”
“Hey, this girl’s got some spunk.” The blonde guy beside him whistled.
“Just so you know, the other side wants your nudes, and they want you to suffer a little! I’m not a heartless person; If you’re smart, I can make you suffer less, the leader sneered, radiating a wicked vibe.
Maggie’s thoughts raced, but she wasn’t worried about getting in trouble.
Nathael was close by after all.
Though the van blocked her view now, he’d catch up in under two minutes.
She wondered who was behind this and why they were so cruel.
She had Timmothy sorted now, and though he might be wild, he wouldn’t pull something like this. Vanessa was busy with Joseph, so she might not have the time..
Joseph, who was beaten up, might hold a grudge and strike back, or it could be Sierra, with the competition coming up, or even Beth, who had been quiet lately.
“Enough talking. Let’s go!” the guy impatiently grabbed her arm, trying to shove her into the car.
Suddenly, a big hand landed on his shoulder, swiftly removing his grip.
“Argh!”
Nathael’s face was cold, his eyes showing dark shadows. He couldn’t believe someone targeted her when he was just taking a phone call.
Seeing their leader in pain, the other thugs grabbed their clubs and aimed for Nathael.
“I suggest you stay out of this!” the leader yelled angrily, turning towards Nathael.
Taking advantage of him turning his back, Maggie raised her foot and kicked him.
The guy charging forward stumbled, almost falling in front of Nathael.
Right then, Nathael kicked him in the head, making him fall to the ground, dizzy and ears ringing.
Maggie innocently blinked and stepped back to watch Nathael handle them single–handedly from a safe distance.
These guys aren’t that good. Not one of them can handle themselves.
