Chapter 743 Seeking Clarification From Noah

Chloe laughed. When she was about to respond, Joseph’s expression suddenly changed. He grabbed her shoulders and seemed to be holding something back. "Did someone force himself on you?"

Though Noah was around, foreign countries were not as safe as their homeland of Asvand. He might have failed to protect her. At that moment, Joseph did not think that he too might be sick too if Chloe was indeed infected. All he could think about was her safety.

Chloe shoved him away disdainfully. "You're overthinking it. You're the one who’s always forcing himself on me."

Joseph was taken aback. "So, that dirty person you were talking about is me?"

"Who else could it be?"

His head throbbed from the anger felt. He interrogated her, "Are you afraid of catching a disease from me?"

He was a man of integrity. Despite already being in his thirties, Chloe was the only woman he ever slept with aside from that accident. She was cruel to say such a thing.

"But the paternity test proved that Jasper is your son. Are you going to deny that?"

Although Harold had said as much, Joseph was undoubtedly his grandson. It was possible that he had lied to her because he wanted her to get back together with Joseph.

Joseph flared up in a rage. He inched closer to her. "You're afraid after contracting a disease from me, huh?"

"Yes." She did not notice the iciness in his eyes, instead becoming frustrated as she recalled all his schemes. "I won't go to your place to cook for you again. Just transfer the resort shares to me. Otherwise, I'll sue you for violating me."

Sleeping with him once was enough to cover cooking for him eight times.

"Fine, I'll transfer them to you."

Chloe looked up at him. Before she could say a word, he planted an overbearing kiss on her. The nurses and doctors passing by averted their gazes. They seemed busy with their work but were secretly glancing at Chloe and Joseph.

Chloe had been caught off guard. She wanted to push him away but he held onto her firmly. Hopelessness engulfed her.

The kiss finally ended only when Chloe's lips were swollen. Feeling her legs turn to jelly, she leaned against the wall and slowly slid down as he held onto her by the waist.

"Didn’t Noah tell you that he sold the resort?” He touched her cheeks and sounded certain. There was a strange hoarseness in his voice.

Chloe’s eyes went wide. "He sold it?"

"Yes, just yesterday."

"You're lying."

"I’d never lie to you."

"But why didn't Noah tell me?"

It was impossible and illogical. Noah had promised to let her handle the resort.

Joseph said slyly, "I told you he's not as simple as you think."

Chloe was frustrated from having heard the same thing twice today. "Let me go. I want to leave." She staggered upright, snatched back the report, and walked out of the hospital. She planned to ask Noah about the resort regardless if they were telling the truth or not.

"Let me give you a ride," Joseph offered.
