Chapter 733 I Won’t Touch You

Chapter 733 I Won’t Touch You

Harold froze, and Chloe caught the fleeting expression of shock that flitted across his eyes.

Chloe took a deep breath and clenched her fists. "Is Xavia working for Duskfall?"

Harold remained silent. After a long while, he sighed wearily and said, "Chloe, please don't concern yourself with this anymore. Duskfall is a force to be reckoned with. Both you and Joseph are still young. Xavia won't bug him anymore, so you can rest assured. You still have a long life ahead, and since it's already over, you shouldn't get involved again."

He had always charged ahead while serving in the military in his younger days. But after an unforeseen family incident, he came to appreciate the value of a peaceful and ordinary life. He understood that things beyond his control were best left untouched. It was not about cowardice. He just did not want to lose those he held dear anymore.

"So we're going to do nothing and let them bully us?" Chloe looked at Harold in a daze. "They caused harm and cost us everything. They should pay for what they did. They should make amends."

If it were not for Duskfall, she would not have lost her child and they would have grown up like any other child. NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.

"Aren't you scared?" Harold asked.

"Of course, I'm scared," Chloe replied with determination, "But no matter how scared I am, I'll never forget the pain they caused me."

If Duskfall was the mastermind behind everything and Xavia's appearance was all planned, then those seemingly coincidental events began to make sense. Chloe could not afford to be fearful. She had to avenge her child, even if it meant sacrificing her own life.

Harold stared at Chloe for a long time before saying in a serious tone, "Your power is too insignificant. It’s like hitting a rock with an egg. You can't touch Duskfall."

Chloe smiled back. "I'll do what I can."

She could not stand idly by after learning the truth. She had to do something.

Before leaving, she asked, "Does Joseph know that Xavia is a member of Duskfall?"

Harold frowned. "I haven't told him. He already has too much on his plate."

"Okay.”

Instead of leaving immediately, Chloe decided to calm herself in the restroom. She washed her face, but the cool water could not extinguish the anger in her heart. Instead, it seemed to fuel the flames even more. She stared at her reflection in the mirror. Her cheeks were flushed and her delicate ears had taken on a faint pink hue. Suddenly, she felt really hot. Removing her coat, she stepped out and saw Joseph walking toward her.

"I'm leaving now," Chloe said, bidding farewell to Joseph.

Having just received the answer she sought, she felt drained and her tone was no longer as cold.

Joseph locked his gaze onto Chloe, observing her from her head to her toe. "You should stay here tonight," he said.

He understood that driving in her situation could be dangerous. And what if Noah took advantage of her when she returned?

Chloe naturally would not agree to such a proposition. She had initially planned to fiercely retort, but her body seemed to have a mind of its own. Unconsciously, her expression softened as she said,

"No way. I've completed my task."

Joseph's gaze grew more intense and his Adam's apple bobbed. "Be good now. You can sleep in the master bedroom. I'll drive you home tomorrow."

And he silently swore and warned himself not to touch her.
