Chapter 726 I Don’t Want to Have a Lovestruck Brother

"No, I swear that’s not what I meant."

She simply smiled in return, not believing in him in the slightest. NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.

Callum felt helpless and turned to look at Joseph. Chloe was overly cautious. She was nothing like her mother, and he had no idea how to get close to her.

Joseph did not want to get involved. His own relationship with Chloe was strained. If she learned of his true connection to Callum, she might resent him even more. However, he found it difficult to ignore Callum's cue.

After a few seconds of contemplation, he said, "In terms of blood relations, you are Mr. Callum’s daughter. But morally speaking, he never raised you or fulfilled his fatherly responsibilities. However, you can look at the bigger picture.”

Meeting Joseph's gaze, Chloe said calmly, "So you want me to compromise and gain benefits from the relationship?"

Joseph did not respond or refute. Instead, he took a puff of his cigarette and listened attentively.

Chloe took a deep breath. She did not want to waste time on this matter and decided to make her stance clear. "Well, I guess you're going to be disappointed then. I don't have any great demands for power or money. Even if I did, I’ll strive and work hard to achieve it myself. I can't just forget the pain my mother suffered for benefits, and I'll never use her humiliating past as a stepping stone. No normal person would do that, right? Honestly, you guys sicken me."

Callum had hoped that Joseph could help him mend his relationship with Chloe, but he fell into a contemplative silence after what she said. He did not rush to speak or refute. Instead, he calmed him and carefully considered his strategy.

He had oversimplified things. Chloe was different from his own children, who had been showered with love from a young age and had never experienced the harsh realities of the world. When others treated them well, they would reciprocate the same kindness. Chloe, on the other hand, was like a vigilant cat. She would immediately extend her claws to try and scare off her attacker at the first opportunity.

Joseph stared at Chloe intently and persuaded, "Yes, I admit that what you said is true, but I don't think Mr. Callum wants to buy you. He simply feels guilty and wants to do something for you. He wants you to depend on him so that no one will bully you anymore."

Chloe could not tell if his words were true or false. She lowered her head to conceal the changes in her expression.

Callum had figured out most of Chloe's personality and knew that they would not make any progress today. He took out a business card and handed it to her. "I want you to be my daughter. Not just in terms of blood, but officially."

Chloe froze for a moment. She slowly raised her head and chuckled. "I don't want a love-struck brother, so thanks but no thanks."

Callum was taken aback. What did Kenneth do? Was there some misunderstanding between them?

Callum did not follow entertainment news, not to mention he had a busy schedule recently. He had not heard anything about Kenneth and Xavia. As he entered the castle, he began searching for Kenneth. When he could not find his son, he asked the housekeeper who informed him that Kenneth had gone out.

"Mr. Kenneth has been going out alone every day. It looks like he’s been going out on dates.”

"Dates? He has a girlfriend?"

“Yes, he does," the housekeeper confirmed.

"What's the girl's name?" Callum pressed.

"A violinist named Xavia Larson."

Callum closed his eyes and let out a sigh. "Get Kenneth back here."
