Joseph wore no expression. "Kids shouldn't meddle in adults' affairs."

"I can help you capture her heart."

"You don’t have enough homework, do you?"

Joseph was used to Jasper's strange way of thinking. He did not give much of a reply before asking some people to come in.

Jasper pouted and muttered reluctantly, "Chloe’s willing to meet me instead of you. You shouldn’t doubt my power."

Noticing her hesitation, Noah smiled gently and suggested, "Just go. We'll waste only an hour at most. You can show him how happy you are now."

Half an hour later, they arrived at the prison. After going through the formalities, the warden arranged for Chloe and Noah to meet with Benjamin. He was soon brought in. Despite being only in his fifties, he walked with an unsteady gait. His hair had turned white, coughed with every step he took, and had become extremely thin.

"You don't have much time," the warden reminded him.

"Fine, I understand." Benjamin rubbed his hands together and heaved a long sigh. "It wasn't because of Karen that I fell out with your mother."

"So, you asked me to come just so you could prove Karen's innocence?"

"No, listen to me. When your mother and I decided to elope, we went home to pack our belongings. When we met up, I found her at a hotel. I noticed something was amiss."

Chloe felt that there was an underlying meaning to his words. "Go on."

"Someone had taken liberties with her. I never showed you love because you're not my child."
