Chapter 676 Leaving Flowers at My Grave?

Chapter 676 Leaving Flowers at My Grave?

"How would I have been able to get away from you if I didn't deceive you?" Chloe’s voice was calm, though tinged with sarcasm.

"How could you be so heartless?" ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

"And what about you? How could you imprison me and force me to have an abortion? You even tried to make me accept you being with Xavia."

"I can explain that. It's not like what you think."

"Sorry, I'm not interested. I have to go," Chloe said coldly. She averted her gaze and tried to leave.

Unwilling to let her go, Joseph reached out to grab her hand, but Chloe deftly dodged his grasp.

"Mr. Joseph, please mind your manner." Noah came just in the nick of time, positioning himself between Chloe and Joseph.

Chloe and Noah stood close to each other, suggesting their intimate connection. Upon seeing this, Joseph's anger flared up.

He lashed out, "Fuck off."

"Mr. Joseph, I believe Coco made herself very clear. Please step aside," Noah said, his calm demeanor a stark contrast to Joseph's anger.

"Come here," Joseph commanded, ignoring Noah's words while fixing his gaze on Chloe.

When their eyes met, Chloe suddenly smiled. "Do you feel it unfair because I've kept you in the dark all these years?" she questioned.

Joseph's eyebrows furrowed. He admitted that he had felt such emotions. Most importantly, he believed that Chloe was just like him, that they were both waiting for each other and had not forgotten about each other. Her departure was merely a means to find a new place to heal her wounds. It did not mark the end of their relationship.

"Have you ever experienced the despair of being engulfed in flames? A fire that sears your skin and tries to consume all of you?"

A flicker of guilt crossed Joseph's face when Chloe brought up the fire. "That was an oversight on my side."

"An oversight? Yeah, it was just an oversight. And the consequence was that I was nearly killed and my child is dead!"

"I can apologize for that, but that one mistake doesn’t erase all the good I've done for you.”

He was well aware of the loss Chloe had suffered in that fire, but he was absent that day because he was working toward their future.

"Do you think I need your apology?" Chloe chuckled. "Can an apology bring my child back to life?"

Joseph felt a lump forming in his throat. His voice was hoarse with emotion as he said, "I’ll make it up to you."

"I would’ve turned into ashes if it weren't for Noah, so what right do you have to question why I lied to you? If I hadn't, I would’ve remained a prisoner! And how are you going to make it up to me? By leaving flowers at my grave every year?"

"Chloe, you know how much I love you. Why must you do this to me? Why must you trample on our relationship?"

"I'm sorry, but I've already moved on," Chloe said firmly, smiling brightly at Joseph.

The smile on her face told Joseph that he was the only one deluding himself. He remained silent for a long while before taking a deep breath. "You can't be with Noah."

Chloe was taken aback for a moment, but then her smile deepened. "You have no say in what I do. If you still want to use imprisonment and coercion to force me, feel free to try it."

Noah chimed in, saying gently, "Mr. Joseph, try looking at this from a different perspective. Not every relationship lasts, and not every person is right for you."

Joseph's gaze intensified, and though his words were for Chloe, his eyes were on Noah. "Whatever I did in the past, I did them all openly, unlike some people who are skilled at wearing masks— presenting one face in public and another in secret. Can you be sure Noah hasn't harmed you?"
