Chapter 25
Sofia Andrew
Think, Sofia. Just think. How did he get here? I'm going to kill someone, I swear.
"Mr. Leffman!" Isaac exclaimed in shock when he saw Angel because he had no idea that I was the owner.
"Hello," he greeted Isaac without taking his eyes off me, and I remained rooted in my seat. "I came here to talk to you."
"With me?" Isaac asked in confusion.
Angel didn't answer him and stepped closer to me. "You haven't answered me, Sofia. What are you doing here?"
"I... I..." I looked at Isaac for help and Sandra, who didn't have any idea what to do as well.
"What did you want to talk to me about, Mr. Leffman? How did you get here?" Isaac asked him, and that's what I want to know as well.
"Because I can," Angel replied with a blank look on his face, and his eyes still remained on me. "Why are you here, Sofia?"
"Ah, I see that you know each other." At what he said, Angel finally turned to Isaac.
"Everyone in this country knows that this woman is my wife," he said in such a tone that even I shivered in coldness.
"Angel, what are you doing here?" I asked him when my brain finally functioned.
"I'm here to talk to the owner about my proposal."
"Our company, or your company?"
"Sofia, not now. Why do you look so nervous?"
I was quick to deny his claim and forced my brain to find a good reason. "I am not nervous; I'm just... I'm here for the same thing." God, what did I get into? "I am here to talk about business." "Just you two?" Angel asked while looking between us. "What is it about?"
Swallow me now, earth!
"About security," Isaac answered this time and turned to Sandra, who was just awkwardly standing there. "Don't worry, Sandra, let me talk to Mr. Leffman."
"The security system here is tight, and you just can't get in, so how are you here?" I asked him with invisible sweat running down my face.
"Nothing that a charming smile can't do, and how about you.?"
"I have an appointment with Mr. Isaac."
"If that's the case, why do you look so nervous?" he whispered to me without Isaac hearing it.
"Mr. and Mrs. Leffman, please have a seat so we can talk," Isaac told us and gestured for us to sit.
"I do, as for your understanding, because the last thing I thought was to see my husband here," I told Isaac with an awkward smile.
My phone rang, and I saw Angel's grandfather calling me.
"I need to answer this; please excuse me." I walked away from them and gestured for Isaac to talk to Angel before answering the call. "Hello, pops. How are you?" "Well, it's a little sad that you haven't visited me."
I bit my lip and felt guilty. "I'm sorry. I promise I'll find the time to visit you."
Pops chuckled on the other line. "Sofia, dear, where are you?"
"In my company."
"Which of the three?" Angel's grandfather is the only one who knows about my other businesses because, well, even I don't know, he's already a veteran in this world. "Let-Tech, sir."
I heard him clicking his tongue. "Oh dear, you better leave now before your secret..."
"Angel is already here, pops." I cut him off with a sigh.
"Oh, no. So he already knows?"
"Not yet, pops, and I'll make sure it stays that way."
"Dear, isn't it easier for you to just tell him the truth?"
I took a deep breath. "I'll just call you later, pops. I promise I'll visit you."
After the call ended, I went back inside, where the two were.
"Well, what business is it that you haven't told me, my dear?" Angel asked me in his 'good husband' act.
"It's a surprise, Angel. I just wanted to see what Mr. Gomez here has to offer."
"Isaac Gomez, so he's really the owner?" He asked me with a raised brow, and I nodded.
"Of course, he's the owner. What kind of question is that, Angel? If he isn't, he won't be here. But what business do you have here, dear?" I threw back at him, emphasizing the endearment she used. "Security for the company." Of course, liar. "But hey, now that we're here, let's talk about business."
Isaac and I both stiffened before we looked at each other.
"Mr. Leffman, what proposal is it? Because I don't remember having an appointment with you or your company."
I almost facepalmed at what Isaac said. I will choke him!
"My company? But Sofia is here."
"That's different." Isaac, please stop talking, or you'll kill us.
"How come it's different?" Angel asked, and his eyes found me again.
"Sofia had business nearby, and she just wanted to drop by, and we ended up talking about business."
"Oh, I thought you said you had an appointment?" Angel whispered to me, but he intended Isaac to hear it.
"That's right, but for a different reason," Isaac replied. "Our business talk is done, and I can say that Sofia is hard to convince."
"Right, and because I'm here, what's it about?"
"Security," I replied, and I almost stuttered.
God, Sofia! Control yourself, or he'll know!
"Sofia saw how impressive our security system is, so she's interested in it, although you were able to escape it," Isaac said with a mocking laugh. Angel shrugged nonchalantly. "I'm just faster than the door."
"We need to work on that," Isaac said, and our eyes connected. I sent him a deadly look.
"It's indeed great. It's a new system that we can use in the company," Angel said firmly.
"Furthermore, I also want to offer you our platforms for your operations."
"For cars?" Angel asked, his eyes narrowing at me.
And if I didn't know better, I swear he thinks I'm stealing his idea, and he wants to kill me.
"No, but now that you said it, that isn't a bad idea." I taunted him with a smile.
There was a knock on the door, and Sandra came in. "Excuse me. Mr. and Mrs. Yen are waiting in the meeting room."
Sandra looked at Isaac and me, and she was at a loss for words. Damn. The Japanese couple slipped from my mind because of Angel.
"Thanks, Sandra. I'll be there," Isaac said to save me.
"Why do you look so nervous?" Angel whispered to me while looking at me up and down.
"Because now we need to go. That's what happens when you show up unannounced." I told him with irritation and stood up before motioning for him to do the same. "We could not even talk business, Mr. Gomez," Angel told Isaac, and I shot him a look.
"Well then, maybe next time you actually show up with an appointment," I told him, and he glared at me.
"How about lunch tomorrow?" Angel offered, and Isaac simply looked at me, and I shook my head at him. Do not agree!
Isaac smiled at Angel and nodded. "I'd love to. It'll be my pleasure."
Dear God! I'm going to kill you, Isaac!
Isaac handed me my purse that was on top of the table before kissing my cheek and whispering.
"It's now your problem."
"Close the deal with the Japanese before I kill you," I whispered back in annoyance, and I stopped myself from strangling him.
"Ehem." Angel cleared his throat and pointed at the door while looking at me. "Are we leaving?"
We left the office, and Sandra sent us off. "See you later, Miss Sofia."
"See you later."
As we walked, I knew Angel had a lot of questions on his mind. But I wonder, since when did he look this handsome?
When we reached the exit, he tried to open the door, but it didn't budge, so I used my access code, and the system thanked me.
"You need to use the pass they gave you when you entered."
He did what I instructed him to, and we left our passes at the reception area.
"See you later, miss," Dani, the receptionist, told me with a smile, and I nodded.
We left the building, and a valet handed Angel back his key.
"I'll take you home."
"No need. I will use my car." I trailed off and remembered that Amelia barred it.
"What's the problem with your car?"
"Nothing. Amelia will come and fetch me."
I have no plans to sit in his car, where he will probably corner me, and I don't like the awkwardness.
"Tell her to take your car to your apartment or that you will go with me," he ordered before taking my arm and gently dragging me to his car and opening the passenger seat. "Get in."
"What a gentleman," I said with so much sarcasm, and I hopped in anyway.
Get yourself ready, Sofia. Because now you will have an Interpol and FBI-type interrogation from Angel.
Angel drove, and as expected, an uncomfortable silence filled the car before I decided to break it.
"Why are you angry? You don't want to see me anymore, but you keep on invading my space."
"Who told you that?"
I rolled my eyes at him. "You always treat me badly whenever we are together, Angel."
"What were you doing in that company, Sofia?"
And we're starting.
"I told you already. Business."
"I don't believe you. Why were you there?" He asked in a firm voice.
"Not believing what I say, how typical of you."
"How can I believe you? You paled when you saw me, and you stammered a few times. More than that, you looked nervous."
"I was just shocked to see you. I did not stammer, and I was not nervous." I defended myself.
"Of course, I'll react that way. You were doing business with him, yet you have no attitude like you said you do. And then he said you just dropped by and eventually ended up talking about business. Really?" Angel summarized everything one by one and let out a mocking laugh.
"You know I don't like making a fool out of myself, Sofia. You said-why are you smiling like that?"
"Smile? I asked and blinked a few times. "Nothing. I just found what you said ironic."
"Why don't you just answer me?" Angel asked, and his voice rose a little.
"I told you, and you didn't tell me why you're there as well, Angel. Because honestly, what you said didn't give me the idea."
"You're dodging the question."
"What do you really want to know, Angel?" I snapped at him.
Maybe he thought I was stealing his idea, that I had him follow and find a way to 'wrong' him like he thought I did before.
"Is he courting you?"
"What?!" I exclaimed in disbelief.
"Answer me! Are you seeing that man?"
"Just where did you get that idea?!"
"Where? I don't know. Mabe, because you were so anxious, your little glance at each other and secrets. Did you think I didn't notice?"
This man is so... Wait, is he jealous? Forget it, Sofia. This man hates you.
"Why are you not answering?"
"I don't need to, and besides, with what moral are you asking me? Did you forget that you have a girlfriend? You have been touring her around while reminiscing about the good old days."
Just thinking about it and what they could possibly be doing, I'm filled with sadness and bitterness.
"You're changing the topic, Sofia."
"Isaac is handsome; he's a gentleman, he's great-built, he can dance, and he has a pair of blue eyes like the sea." I saw how he gripped the wheel from the corner of my eye. "He's an intelligent man, and he almost has the same IQ as me, so who won't notice a man like him?"
He suddenly stepped on the break, and my soul almost left me.
"Hey! Be careful! I still have so many dreams!"
"So you're saying that you like the guy? You're shameless! How could you say that to me?" he exclaimed with anger.
"You asked, and I just answered," I said in a calm voice because we can't be mad at the same time.
"Unbelievable. I'm reminding you that we have yet to sign the contract, and it is written there that you need to be faithful."
I made a sound of disbelief. "The same contract that you signed and forgot since you were with Elisa for God knows how long."
"She has nothing to do with it."
"Neither is Isaac. He's a good man, and he hasn't done anything to anyone, not even you."
"Do not compare me to that guy. We are different," he seethed.
"And it is clear that you are different. You are as cold as ice, you are always angry, you ignore me, you are a hypocrite, and you are not even that handsome. You can dance, but not like him. Don't get me wrong, you're intelligent, but you can't be compared to him as he owns a technology company."
By now, Angel is puffing invisible smoke. "You have no shame."
I did not back down. Oh, no. "And you are a shameless man. I have every right to go out with him, and unlike you, I know how to be discreet. I do not take my lover to my house to meet my parents. Your sister and girlfriend continued to mock me by shouting from the rooftop that you left me for her, and yet, you come complaining to me."
"Is it because of him that you signed without so much hesitation or whatever?"
"Angel, in case you forget, it was you who asked for a divorce, so stop your complaints."
"That won't change the truth. So you're telling me that they've been doing that?"
I groaned in frustration. "You know, sometimes I ask myself, Where were you living to be this stupid?"
"I am not interested in gossip because I have more important things to do."
"Oh, I'm sorry, sir! I'm sorry that you didn't know that your family is going behind your back and shouting to the world that you divorced me for her, and that isn't gossip anymore."
I swear I will kill this stupid, stupid guy. He's so freaking clueless!
"They won't do that because I told her we'd go public when the time was right."
"If you think about it, it's not wrong for them to do that. It's in our favor. They will think we are no longer together. You have a girlfriend, and I am free."
"You are not free, and you're not on the market. You're my wife! And I have no girlfriend."
Is this guy for real? Is he high?
"Well, the three women in your life say otherwise. Thanks to them, I'm back on the market. A proof of that is Alexis, who did not even hesitate to approach me."
My phone rang, and it was Isaac. Another man who wants to drive me crazy!
I took a deep breath and answered it. "Hello?"
"Are you free to talk?"
"Is it urgent?"
"Well, the Japanese almost did not sign because you're not there, but they invited us to dinner, and there is no room for rejection."
"Oh, really? That's good."
"They want to see the owner and not the representative, so they made me promise that you're there this evening, or they will not accept the deal."
I could feel Angel's eyes on me, but I ignored him. "Okay. Where is it?"
"At Diner X at exactly eight o'clock."
"I'll be there."
"I will fetch you because Amelia has your car, right?"
"No, take my car and use it."
"Okay, be ready at seven thirty so we can be there before the dinner."
"Alright." I ended the call and put it back in my bag.
"What did he want?" Angel demanded.
"Who?" I asked, playing innocent.
"Your little boyfriend. Don't even try to deny it because I saw his name."
I rolled my eyes and glared at him. "What he said to me is my business, and it has nothing to do with you or the company if that is what you're worried about."
"You can't stop yourself. For your information, I adhered to the contract, and I did not lay with anyone, but I see that he did not, because, as you said, he's a great dancer, and I should be the same."
Is he using the word 'dance' as a metaphor? This man is so handsome and sexy when he's jealous. I told myself, entertained by his reaction.
"Is it fun to you that we don't need to go by the contract and you can sleep with anyone you want, and I can as well?"
I tried to stop myself from smiling but failed. "No, it's just amusing to see. To see you seething in jealousy is fun to me."
He snorted a laugh. "I am not jealous, and I don't have to be because I don't care about you. You can do whatever the f**k you want with him or anyone."
"Well, in that case, you don't care, so I have your blessing to fulfill my need. Will you not break his face like you did to Alexis?"
"He tried to drug and r**e you. He deserves that and more."
"I know, and I'm grateful to you, but Isaac isn't like that. He's a real gentleman, and he will never do something I won't allow."
And that is true; Isaac has always been a gentleman to me and Amelia. He can be a flirt at times, but that's it.
"Do what you want, Sofia," he said coldly.
"I will, but..." I frowned and looked around. "Where are we?"
"I need to look for something in the office; if you want, you can wait here or leave. Do whatever you want."
We were parked at a booth, and he got off and slammed the door behind him.
"Childish," I muttered and shook my head.
I waited for a few minutes, but curiosity won, so I decided to follow him.
I walked inside the building where 'Autos-Let' was written in italic font with a Jaguar logo. I was impressed by how huge and spacious it is.
"Excuse me, miss. May I help you?" A woman greeted me.
"Oh, hi. I'm sorry. I think I lost my husband."
"Your husband?" she asked, and I nodded.
This was the first time I saw his company, and I didn't even know where it was. I just see their cars and agencies at their branches, but not the company itself.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
"Uhm, he's tall, and handsome but often frowns, has cold amber eyes, a cute smile, a godlike body, smells good, but he's a snob at times." I described Angel in a detailed manner. The employee laughed. "That must be Mr. Leffman," she said, and it made me think that she knew he was the owner.
"Yes. I lost him because he was too fast."
"Okay, I'll give you a pass."
Wow, is that easy? Angel needs tighter security if he doesn't want anyone to know that he's the owner. Even if he managed to get past our security, I'm still confident in it.
"Here you go, Mrs. Leffman. I think you'll know his office where you can find Mr. Leffman." She winked at me, and she let me in.
As soon as I got off the elevator, it opened to a floor that looked like a workshop. I doubt his office is here. There, I saw the latest models of cars and a breathtaking sports car that isn't done yet. "Miss, your dress will get dirty." A mechanic warned me.
"Oh, don't worry, it won't be the first time. That design is beautiful." I pointed at it and admired the exterior.
"It's not yet done, but yes. Excuse me, who are you looking for?"
"I don't think he's here, but I'm glad I'm in this place."
I saw a table where some designs were, and because curiosity is in my nature, I saw complete designs there.
"Do you like them?"
"I do. I like the design. Who created this?"
Diether is a skilled designer, so I wonder why Angel didn't take him into his company.
"The boss himself creates the design when he's inspired, and he said he got inspired by a woman."
Elisa... I mentioned the name in my head, and my heart squeezed.
"He's inspired, so it turned out beautifully."
He toured me around the workshop, and I saw some cars in the gallery. Just to be safe, he kept me out of the place where I was not allowed, but I still saw a glimpse of a sports car they were working on.
Angel is unbelievable, and he's inspired. At least Elisa did something right for once.
"You are trespassing." I heard the voice of the man who was driving me crazy.
"You told me I could leave."
"No, I told you you could wait in the car or leave."
I just shrugged, not in the least bothered. "I decided to come down and check the place."
"You saw more than what you're allowed to. How did you get past the security?"
"Nothing that my charm cannot do." I copied what he said earlier, and he laughed.
"You are a competitor, and you saw my new designs. That is a crime."
"Not if I'm the wife of the owner," I countered and looked at the car again. "Angel, that's amazing. I'm sure it will be a hit!"
"I think I'll have a great competitor because my wife is skilled and creative. Won't you steal my ideas?" He asked with a raised brow.
"Do you think I'm capable of doing that?" I asked, rolling my eyes. "Of course, for you, I can even kill an innocent infant."
I left the conversation at that and walked to the elevator, and he followed me.
"Did you see my design?"
"I am not going to steal your designs, Angel; don't worry."
I may be cold and heartless at times, but it hurts to think that he sees me as someone so... horrible.
"I am not worried because I know you won't do it, and you have your own designs."
I snorted at that. "Right. They said you were inspired." I tried not to sound bitter and looked away.
"I got inspired after a kiss. I think that serves as my new inspiration."
As if I knew how you kissed Elisa. I bitterly said it in my head.
"A kiss and it inspired you greatly; what more if you got inspired by s*x?" Saying that makes me want to beat myself for digging my own grave.
My eyes widened when Angel suddenly invaded my space and blocked my view with his body.
"Oh, I can make art while I'm having s*x." Oh, God. Do you really need to say that to my face? "But it didn't inspire me to create a design."
"Well, you should try harder, or maybe you're doing it with the wrong person. Haven't you thought of that?" I asked with a smirk.
"Maybe." He bent down, and my heart skipped a beat when he whispered. "Maybe you're dancing with the wrong person as well." I stiffened when he kissed my ear.
The elevator opened, and he stepped away from me before a sly smile appeared on his face.
"Let's go."
I calmed my beating heart and opened my mouth. "For your information, I dance well."
Okay, it didn't come out the way I wanted it to.
"I don't doubt that," he said, walking to his car.
What the hell was that? My heart is beating so loudly and fast! This man will kill me one day. If not from anger, then from desire.
