I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 487

Chapter 487 Need Your Help

Harper lightly pressed her lips and asked, "Where did you go? You didn't come back for dinner tonight."

"I thought where I went wasn't that important. After all, there wasn't a single call or message all day, right?" His response was indifferent, tinged with self-deprecation.

Harper smiled helplessly and said, "But you didn't call me either."

"So, does it have to be me reaching out to you? Can't you reach out to me?" He squinted slightly and asked.

Harper didn't respond directly, asking, "Benjamin, do you really want to keep talking to me like this?"

Benjamin's gaze locked onto Harper, who was sitting on the sofa. She looked calm on the surface, giving off a gentle vibe, but she could be fierce when provoked, and no one could match her. He felt a surge of jealousy when he thought about the man she had in her heart.

His eyes darkened, and he muttered, "It's late. It's time to shower and rest, hmm?"

He didn't pursue the topic further, implying that the matter was in the past.

Although they didn't argue, the atmosphere between them remained somewhat tense.

Harper didn't want to ask for his help at this moment. Knowing his sensitivity, he would probably think she only spoke to him because she needed something.

Thinking about his pettiness gave Harper a headache. She couldn't fathom what was wrong with him, especially when it came to matters concerning the two of them. He could be particularly petty. She shook her head helplessly, deciding to bring it up again tomorrow.

Harper had a dreamless night, and when she woke up the next day, Benjamin had not left as early as yesterday.

During breakfast, Harper initiated a conversation with him. "Did Larry say anything?"

"Hmm?" He glanced at her while eating his toasts.

She continued, "He was drunk and came to see Annie last night. Did he say anything?"

"No."

It was true Larry hadn't mentioned anything. After waking up in the hotel, he went straight to the office. So it wasn't clear whether he didn't remember anything or if there was another reason behind it.

After they finished breakfast in silence, Benjamin was about to leave for work. He went to the entrance to change his shoes. He saw her standing in the middle of the living room and said softly, "I'm off to work."

She hummed in acknowledgment. Then her lips slightly opened as if she wanted to say something but hesitated. Benjamin asked, "What's wrong?"

up at him. "Benjamin, I need your help with something. I'm talking to you not because I need your help. 1 have no intention of using you, so please don't misunderstand me."

Worried that Benjamin might misunderstand her, she preemptively clarified everything.

Benjamin was amused by her reaction and said calmly, "Is that how you see me?"

"I didn't think that way. I just wanted to explain beforehand to avoid any unnecessary misunderstandings."

"Go ahead. What do you need my help with?" His deep gaze focused intently on her.

Harper said, "I want to check out some things, like clothes, pants, hats, shoes, and similar items. But I don't have the right connections for this, so could you introduce me to someone who can help?" Rather than hiding her intentions, Harper chose to be transparent about her purpose, saving Benjamin from guessing or overanalyzing her intentions.

Benjamin nodded slightly and asked, "Do you have any specific brands in mind?"

"No, but it would be preferable if they have connections with major luxury brands. It'll be helpful for me in the future if needed."

She looked at him, her face filled with anticipation.

Benjamin fell silent for a moment, pondering. Then he said, "I'll have Curtis contact you later. He'll recommend someone for you, okay?"

"Okay." She nodded. "Thank you, Benjamin."
