I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 376

Chat

Paul's certainty was palpable.

Lily, on the other hand, had no ulterior motives. She simply thought knowing the gender might make shopping for clothes easier, but not knowing was fine, too. They'd prepare for both a boy and a girl. Money was no issue.

As they chatted, a servant's reminder interrupted, "Mr. Martin is back."

Benjamin and Dorcas walked in from outside.

Dorcas carried an exquisite and upscale gift box. She politely greeted Paul, Scott, and Lily. "Sir Martin, Scott, Lily, hello. I'm sorry for the sudden visit."

She then apologized for interrupting their family dinner.

Paul replied calmly, "No need to be polite. As long as you don't mind having a simple meal with us."

With Dorcas' attitude, everyone naturally responded with courtesy.

Dorcas then engaged Scott and Paul in a conversation about the collaboration between the Madison Group and the Martin Group. Despite being a girl, she had the heart of a boy. Being the only girl in the Madison family, she would naturally take over the company in the future.Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

Dorcas playfully quipped. "My dad is especially worried that I won't find a husband who can manage the company. So for now, it's all on me."

Paul responded, "In today's society, it's all about gender equality. Both partners need to complement each other. If both husband and wife are fully invested in the company, the home loses its essence. Look at Benjamin's parents, as well as Benjamin and Harper." Dorcas paused for a moment, then smiled, "You're right. My dad shares the same view. If I can find a man who can handle me and the Madison Group, I'd gladly step back to be a good wife and mother."

Paul simply smiled without further comment.

Lily then asked, "Harper, how is Eleanor doing?"

"She's currently stable. Once her body is ready, she can undergo surgery."

"Good. Make sure to keep us informed. You're pregnant. Don't tire yourself out. Let Benjamin take care of things. I can also send over some food."

"Okay, I understand."

Harper and Lily shared a bond akin

to mother and daughter. Dorcas couldn't help but exclaim, "Lily, you're so good to Harper. My mother passed away early. I hope my husband's mother would be like

you."

Lily smiled gently, "It will, for sure."

Dorcas' early loss of her mother was known to them. As a mother and a woman, Lily couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy.

During the meal, Dorcas initiated

conversations about her school days, mentioning how Lily used to cook for her. She would then express gratitude. "Lily, I'm really thankful for those times."

"It's all in the past. I feel a bit embarrassed that you still remember, Ms. Madison."

"You should just call me Dorcas. It feels awkward when you keep calling me Ms. Madison."

Lily smiled, not saying much, leaving it unclear if she agreed or not.

Since Dorcas and Benjamin arrived, Harper had barely spoken, only responding to Lily or Paul. She hadn't looked at Benjamin once, purposefully ignoring him.

After dinner, as it was getting late and Dorcas was there, Lily didn't keep them for further conversation and allowed them to leave early.

The three of them left the Martin Manor together. Harper spoke up. "I need to visit Eleanor at the hospital, so I won't share a ride with you both."

Her driver had sent her here, so naturally, she would have the driver take her back.

As Harper finished speaking,

Benjamin immediately turned to her. "Let's share a ride. I'll drop Dorcas off at the hotel first, then

accompany you to the hospital to see Eleanor, okay?" FindNovel
