Chapter 832: He's Now a Little Brother
Yanis nodded. "What's wrong? Are you feeling jealous or surprised that Ivan messaged me first?"
Zane replied calmly, "Both."
Yanis reached out and took Zane's hand. "Don't be jealous. He's now... a little brother."
Upon hearing Yanis's words, Zane turned his head and looked at her. He whispered, "So, should he
start calling me brother-in-law from now on?"
Yanis chuckled. "Would you dare to make him call you that?" All content is © N0velDrama.Org.
Zane pretended to think seriously for a few seconds. "We can give it a try next time."
Yanis smiled and said, "Let's go downstairs and take a walk. Bonnie is getting ready."
Zane agreed and held Yanis's hand as they walked towards the direction of the elevator.
Yanis's attempt to hide the incident from Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence was ultimately unsuccessful. When
Yanis and Zane returned to the hospital room, the elderly couple was already sitting there.
Upon seeing the two people in the room, Yanis visibly hesitated for a moment before looking at Zane,
hoping for an explanation.
Zane, meeting Yanis's gaze, gently shook his head, indicating that he hadn't revealed anything.
"Yanis, come here. Let me see you," Mrs. Lawrence beckoned Yanis with a wave of her hand when she
saw her.
Yanis approached, greeting Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence before taking a seat beside Mrs. Lawrence.
"Why didn't you tell us about such a big incident? If it weren't for Phoebe accidentally letting it slip this
morning, we would have been kept in the dark," Mrs. Lawrence said, holding Yanis's hand. "Did you get
hurt anywhere?"
Yanis shook her head. "I didn't get hurt. I just inhaled too much smoke. Nothing serious, Grandma,
please don't worry."
Mrs. Lawrence compassionately touched Yanis's face with her hand and then turned to look at Zane,
who was standing nearby. "What's the matter with you? How could you not take care of Yanis properly?
If anything had happened to her, I wonder how you would have handled it!"
"Grandma, it's not Zane's fault. It was my carelessness..."
"It definitely has something to do with him. If he had known she was going to come out, he should have
been prepared. He bears half the responsibility for this," Mr. Lawrence interrupted Yanis before she
could finish speaking.
Mr. Lawrence looked at Zane sternly and scolded him, "Luckily, nothing happened. If there had been
any consequences, you wouldn't need to acknowledge us as your family anymore."
Faced with Mr. Lawrence's reprimand, Zane remained silent, allowing Mr. Lawrence to scold him
without uttering a word.
After all, Zane also felt some self-blame for the incident.
"Mr. Lawrence, Mrs. Lawrence, this matter can't really be blamed on Mr. Lawrence. It was Yanis's
innocence, but fortunately, nothing serious happened," Bonnie, who was sitting beside them, spoke
softly, explaining on Zane's behalf.
Although both of them blamed Zane with their mouths, deep down they felt sorry for him.
After all, they had been through so much together from the beginning until now. They knew how difficult
it was for them to reconcile and be together peacefully.
They didn't want anything else to go wrong. They didn't want to see any bad outcomes.
Fortunately, Ivan arrived just in time and saved Zane from the continued scolding by the Old Mr.
Lawrence and the Old Mrs. Lawrence.
While eating, Bonnie whispered to Ivan, "You came just in time. You're practically Mr. Lawrence's
lifesaver."
Upon hearing Bonnie's words, Ivan glanced at Zane's face and then back at Bonnie. "What do you
mean?"
"I mean the two old folks were lecturing and scolding Zane. It had been going on for over half an hour.
If you hadn't come, I think it would have continued for a while longer."
After hearing Bonnie's explanation, Ivan chuckled lightly. "Then I shouldn't have come in."
Bonnie clicked her tongue. "You're looking for trouble early in the morning."
Ivan helped Bonnie open her congee container. "Just focus on your meal. It'll get cold soon."
Bonnie swallowed the dumpling in her mouth. "Yanis will be discharged soon. Mr. Lawrence definitely
won't let her leave the hospital alone for the next couple of days. Yanis can't come to the hospital to
keep me company. Do you want to stay in the hospital and take care of me for two days?"
As Bonnie spoke, she seemed to think of something and added, "You only need to take care of my
meals. You don't have to worry about anything else. How about that?"
"Miss Cooke, hiring me as a temporary worker. Can you afford the high salary?" Ivan glanced at
Bonnie.
"Talking about money will ruin our relationship, won't it?" Bonnie looked at Ivan.
"Do we even have a relationship?" Ivan asked Bonnie.
Bonnie paused for a moment and then said, "Forget it, forget it. Just leave now."
"What are you two talking about? The congee will get cold." Yanis pushed the dumplings closer to
Bonnie. "Eat quickly."
Bonnie responded, "I got it."
Yanis looked at Ivan and asked softly, "Are you planning to return to M Country this time?"
After hearing Yanis's question, Ivan replied, "I'll go back in a couple of days. I still have some unfinished
matters here."
After saying that, Ivan sighed. "I never thought that I would end up back in M Country after all my
wandering. That's the only place that suits me."
"It doesn't matter where you are. As long as you're safe," Bonnie interjected.
Ivan glanced at Bonnie's face and said, "Can't you finish eating before talking?"
"What? Are we disturbing you?" Bonnie teased.
Ivan reached out and ruffled Bonnie's hair. "They say pregnancy makes people foolish for three years.
You might be foolish for a lifetime."
Yanis chuckled softly. "I agree."
"Yanis," Zane called out softly after tidying up the table.
Yanis turned to Zane and asked, "What's the matter?"
"I made plans with Phoebe to take care of something. I'll come back later to help you with the discharge
process. The doctor will come for a routine check-up. Don't go too far," Zane explained.
Yanis nodded. "Can you also take Grandpa and Grandma back when you go?"
Zane checked the time. "The driver is downstairs. I'll take them down."
Yanis agreed and greeted the Old Mr. Lawrence and the Old Mrs. Lawrence before accompanying
them downstairs.
After Yanis and Zane left the hospital room, only Bonnie and Ivan remained.
Bonnie stared at Ivan for a while before speaking up, "Ivan."
Ivan looked up and met Bonnie's gaze. "What is it?"
"Don't you have anything to chat with me about?" Bonnie asked.
"What is there to chat about between us?" Ivan looked into Bonnie's eyes.
Bonnie picked up the water glass on the table and took a sip. "This is the only chance. If we miss it, we
won't get another opportunity. Are you sure there's nothing you want to talk to me about?"
