Chapter 771: Just This Once, No Precedent

The message was from Ivan: [Mila, sorry.]

A simple sentence, nothing more.

Mila's mind was completely relieved upon seeing Ivan's concise apology.

Ivan didn't like her before, doesn't like her now, and there won't be any possibility in the future either.

Mila stared at the message for a long time before setting her phone aside.

...

It was three days later when Yanis found out that Ivan had left Manches City.

Anika was discharged from the hospital but was then taken to South Hospital.

Just as Yanis and Zane left South Hospital, Bonnie called.

Over the phone, Bonnie informed Yanis about Ivan's situation.

After hearing it all, Yanis learned that Ivan had left Manches City on that day and hadn't been in contact

with the Baxter family all these years.

Madison had called Bonnie to ask about Ivan's whereabouts. Bonnie was somewhat shocked when

she received Madison's call because they hadn't been in contact much since their last unpleasant

encounter.

"Didn't Aunt Baxter say anything else?" Yanis asked softly.

Bonnie responded, "No, she just asked if I had seen Ivan, if I knew where he went. I said no, and then

she didn't say anything else and hung up."

With that said, Bonnie paused. "By the way, did she come to the hospital to find you?"

Yanis nodded, "But Zane was there that day, so she didn't say anything inappropriate. Zane warned

her." Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org

Bonnie sighed, "Who would have thought such a gentle woman could turn out to be so twisted? I'm

curious how Ivan managed all these years."

"Ivan never mentioned these things before, probably because he didn't want people around him to

know about them."

"That's true. After all, family matters shouldn't be made public." Bonnie paused and continued, "In that

case, I think the reason Ivan went abroad back then wasn't just because you married Zane, but also

because of Aunt Baxter."

"Did Ivan call you?" Yanis asked softly.

"No, but I saw a side profile of Ivan in Mr. Walsh's social media posts. He looks noticeably thinner,"

Bonnie replied.

Listening to Bonnie's words, Yanis suggested, "Why don't you give him a call and ask about his

situation?"

"Why don't you call him? Mr. Lawrence doesn't let you?" Bonnie asked.

"It's not that. I just think this situation has put Ivan in a difficult position. Aunt Baxter has always

believed that there was something between Ivan and me. She has no trust in Ivan at all. I don't know if

she's insulting me or insulting Ivan."

Yanis felt a strong aversion to what Madison had done this time.

The first time she brought Mila to meet her, she could understand the warnings and reminders, both

subtle and explicit.

But now, things had gone too far.

"Don't think like that. If Ivan knew you were thinking this way, he would probably feel uncomfortable for

days," Bonnie said, pausing. "Well, how about this? Come over to my place tonight. Let's video call him

together and have a chat. How does that sound?"

Considering Bonnie's suggestion, Yanis glanced at Zane who was driving. "I'll see later tonight. I have

two clients to attend to and some other things."

"Okay, you take care of your business first. If you have time tonight, then come over."

Yanis nodded, "How have you been these past two days? Are you still vomiting a lot? Can't eat

anything?"

These past few days seemed to have improved a little, but still, I would throw up no matter what I ate.

But I asked Dr. Watson, and she said it's normal as long as I can still eat.

After hearing Bonnie's words, Yanis felt a lot more relieved. "That's good. I'll come and keep you

company once I finish my busy schedule here."

"Forget it. You haven't even arrived here yet, and your Mr. Lawrence called like I was about to elope

with you or something."

Yanis chuckled at her words. "No way."

"Alright, go and take care of your business. Let me know if you're coming tonight, and I'll have Auntie

prepare your dinner," Bonnie said.

Yanis murmured in agreement, "Okay."

After hanging up the phone, Yanis turned to Zane and said, "Zane, can you drop me off at the store

first? We can go see her in the afternoon?"

Zane nodded, "If you don't want to go, I'll have Albi come with me."

Actually, Yanis really didn't want to see Lucia at all.

After all, whenever she saw Lucia, she would be reminded of the child who almost came into this world.

So after Zane's words, Yanis pursed her lips. "Zane, I... I won't go. Let Albi accompany you."
