Chapter 761: Unhappy to see me?

The next day, it was still raining in Manches City. Yanis had an appointment with a client to take

measurements, and they decided to meet at Blue Nestle in the city center. Due to the rain, Yanis

arrived at the café more than ten minutes late.

"Sorry, there was traffic on the way," Yanis apologized as she approached the person.

"It's fine. With the rain, there's usually more traffic," the person said, pulling out a chair. "Miss

Thompson, please have a seat."

Yanis nodded, "Thank you."

"What would you like to drink?"

"Anything is fine."

"Excuse me, two vanilla lattes, please," the person ordered, then turned to Yanis. "Can I still take a look

at the pictures you sent me last time?"

Yanis nodded and handed over the photo album she had brought. "The ones I sent you before are at

the back."

"Okay, let me take a look."

Yanis responded, "Sure."

"I'm sorry for being late," a male voice suddenly came from above.

When Yanis heard the voice, she looked up and glanced at the person standing by the table. She was

slightly taken aback when she saw who it was.

"Miss Thompson, we meet again," Adam said with a smile, greeting Yanis.

Yanis nodded, "Mr. Bennett, why are you here?"

At this moment, the woman sitting across from Yanis spoke up, introducing herself, "Miss Thompson,

do you know my cousin?"

When Yanis heard this, she looked at Adam again.

Adam approached and sat down across from Yanis, saying, "My sister's daughter, Juliette Bennet. It's

her birthday today, and I just came to pick her up. I didn't expect to see Miss Thompson here."

"I made an appointment with Miss Thompson to take measurements. I want to customize some

jewelry," Juliette said, pushing the photo album she was holding toward Adam. "Brother, can you help

me take a look?"

Adam reached out and took the album, flipping through it. "Don't you have any favorites yourself?"

"I do, but I think the ones I like are all pretty. I can't have them all," Juliette pouted, looking at Adam.

"Brother, why don't you get me one, and then I can choose two."

Adam nodded and handed the album back to Juliette. "You can choose yourself, but I'll pay."

Juliette smiled at Adam, "Okay, thanks, big brother!"

Adam rubbed Juliette's head and then looked at Yanis. "Miss Thompson?"

After hearing Adam's words, Yanis came back to her senses and looked at Adam, "Hmm?"

"Is it because of my arrival that you're unhappy?" Adam asked, looking at Yanis.

Yanis's expression remained calm, "Mr. Bennett, don't overthink it. I was just lost in my thoughts

earlier."

Adam nodded, "I thought Miss Thompson might be a little unhappy because of my presence."

"Brother, you haven't told me how you met Miss Thompson yet," Juliette looked at the photo album

and, upon hearing Adam's words, raised her eyes to Adam and asked softly.

Adam briefly explained the incident that day to Juliette, "That's how we met."

Juliette replied, "Oh, I thought you were trying to pick up Miss Thompson."

"Look at your photos. You talk so much. Don't you want anything?" Adam said.

Juliette immediately fell silent and continued looking at the album.

Adam looked at Yanis after finishing his conversation with Juliette. "Miss Thompson, the incident last

time should have been my responsibility. The car was taken by Mr. Lawrence's men later on, and I

wanted to reimburse you for the repair costs, but you said it wasn't necessary. I still felt a bit guilty

about it. If you have time, would you allow me to take you out for a meal?"

Yanis looked at Adam and responded, "Mr. Bennett, that matter is in the past, and it didn't cause any

substantial harm. So, Mr. Bennett, there's no need to worry about it. Let's forget about the meal."

Yanis politely declined Adam's proposal.

After hearing Yanis's words, Adam chuckled softly. "Miss Thompson, you're quite guarded against me,

aren't you?"

Yanis was about to respond when her phone, placed on the table, started ringing.

Yanis glanced at the caller ID and apologetically looked at Adam and Juliette. "Miss Juliette, please go

ahead and look. I need to take this call."

Juliette nodded. "Sure, go ahead."

Yanis nodded at Adam and walked away, holding her phone.

It was Ivan calling.

Yanis answered the call. "Ivan."

"Busy?" Ivan's voice came through the phone.

Yanis replied, "I'm with a client. It will be over soon. What's up?"

"Nothing, I just wanted to invite you to dinner tonight."

"Tonight? Just the two of us?"

"Why? Do you need to report to Zane?"

Yanis chuckled lightly. "No need for that. See you tonight."

"Great, I'll contact you later."

"Bro, do you have feelings for Boss Thompson?" Juliette looked at Adam and asked in a low voice.

Adam raised his hand and lightly tapped Juliette. "What are you thinking? Miss Thompson is married."

"I know, but being married doesn't mean you can't get divorced, right? It's not that uncommon, is it?"

Adam shook his head helplessly. "Look at your photos. Haven't you made a choice yet?"

"I was just asking casually. Besides, the way you were talking earlier really seemed like you were

hitting on her."

Adam glanced at her but didn't say anything more.

When Yanis returned to her seat, the waiter had just brought the coffee.

"Have you made your selection?" Yanis asked Juliette after she sat down.

Juliette pointed to the pictures she had chosen. "These two will do. Will it take a long time to make

them?"

"It's not too long. If you're in a hurry, I can expedite the process. It will take about two months to

complete these two."

"I'm not in a rush. Take your time, then."

Yanis nodded. "Let me take your measurements."

Juliette extended her hand towards Yanis.

After taking the measurements accurately, Yanis didn't linger and said, "I have something else to attend

to, so I'll take my leave. If there's any issue, I'll contact you."

Juliette responded, "Okay."

As Yanis stood up, she greeted Adam. "Mr. Bennett, I'll be heading back now."

Adam nodded. "Drive slowly in the rainy weather."

Yanis acknowledged with a sound and left Blue Nestle.

The rain outside was even heavier than before.

As soon as Yanis got into her car, her phone started ringing again.

Glancing at the caller ID, Yanis answered the call. "Zane?"

"Are you outside?" Zane's low voice came through the phone.

Yanis responded, "I just finished measuring the client's size. What's up?"

"There was an accident involving Anika. I'm going there, and I wanted to ask if you'd like to come with

me."

Upon hearing Zane's words, Yanis nervously asked, "What happened to Anika?"

"She fell from the balcony on the second floor half an hour ago. She's being treated now." Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.

Upon hearing Zane's words, Yanis's heart tightened. "How is she now?"

"We don't know the current situation yet. I'm on my way to the hospital. You stay there, and I'll pick you

up."

"I'm near the city center. Just go straight to the hospital. I'll drive there myself."

Zane paused for a few seconds. "Be careful on the slippery road in the rain."
