Yanis responded, "He went to the company and brought me along."
"That works out perfectly. I asked the doctor during rounds earlier, and they said I can be discharged. I
just need to go home and continue applying the ointment on time," Bonnie said.
Upon hearing Bonnie's words, Yanis looked at Linda, clearly not believing what Bonnie said.
Linda swallowed her food before nodding towards Yanis. "Yanis, the boss wasn't lying this time. The
doctor did say that."
After hearing Linda's words, Yanis looked at Bonnie and asked, "Go back to Cooke Residence?"
Bonnie nodded. "My dad called this morning, and I told him we'll go back later."
After saying that, Bonnie looked at Linda. "Linda, you should go back and rest for now. Come back to
the store in the afternoon."
"It's alright. I slept for a while last night, and we have two clients coming to pick up their dresses today. I
doubt Stanley and the others will be able to handle it," Linda replied.
Bonnie nodded. "That works too. You can finish your tasks and then go rest."
Linda responded, "Got it. Don't worry about me, take care of yourself."
As Linda mentioned that, she looked at Yanis and asked, "Yanis, are you still going to the store today?
It's still quite chaotic over there, and there's a lot of things to sort out. Stanley and I can help you later."
Yanis said, "Not for now. The police need to verify the damages and check some things. The car is still
parked there, right?"
Linda confirmed, "It hasn't been moved yet, but they'll probably tow it away today."
"Then I'll go take a look later."
"Alright."
After Bonnie completed the discharge procedures and got her medication, Yanis had Albi drive her
back to Cooke Residence. Then, she went to the police station with Albi.
The total loss was estimated to be over 30 million dollars.
Several of the display cabinets contained new items that Yanis had Ivan send over a couple of days
ago, and they were of higher value. Combined with other damages and wear and tear, the total came to
around 37 million dollars.
The driver would bear most of the compensation since Albi had looked into his background and found
out that his family background wasn't good. However, it was certain that he couldn't come up with over
37 million dollars. They could only wait for the driver to cooperate and reveal the person behind the
scenes.
"Albi, please drive me to the store," Yanis said softly to Albi after leaving the police station.
Albi responded, "Sure."
Back at the store, Yanis looked at the car still parked there and had someone come to clean it.
After the car was taken out, the store was in a mess.
Half of the items in the display counter were shattered, while the others had some flaws even if they
weren't completely damaged. They couldn't be sold anymore and needed to be processed before being
sold at a lower price.
Yanis checked everything and planned to offer them as discounted items to accompany the dresses
Bonnie would sell.
"Miss Thompson."
Just as Yanis was about to take out the undamaged items from the display counter, a male voice came
from the entrance.
Yanis turned around upon hearing the voice and took two steps towards the entrance. "Mr. Bennett?"
Adam nodded. "I heard that Miss Thompson got injured yesterday, so I came to check on you and also
discuss the car situation with you."
"What's the big deal? Just a minor scrape," Yanis looked at Adam and asked, "What happened to the
car?"
"No worries. Didn't Mr. Lawrence tell you? He had someone take the car for repairs?" Adam replied.
Upon hearing Adam's words, Yanis hesitated for a moment and said, "Oh, maybe he's too busy and
hasn't informed me yet. Since he arranged for someone to fix the car, Mr. Bennett doesn't need to
worry."
Adam chuckled, "That wouldn't be right. After all, it was my mistake that caused it, so I should bear the
cost."
"No, really, he has connections who can take care of it without spending much money," Yanis insisted.
Upon hearing Yanis' words, Adam looked at her and asked, "Miss Thompson, do you have any
grievances against me?"
Yanis smiled lightly, "I've just recently met Mr. Bennett, so why would I have any grievances..."
"Technically, I'm Neve's brother," Adam interrupted Yanis before she could finish her sentence. NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.
Yanis paused and looked at Adam, waiting for him to continue.
Adam said, "Both Neve and I are the Bennetts, albeit half-siblings with a strained relationship. We've
never really had any interaction. But since this blood relation exists, if Miss Thompson has any
grievances against me because of Neve, I don't think it's necessary. After all, I know some of the things
she has done, and I don't hold any resentment towards Miss Thompson for the past incidents. As for
what happened last night..."
"Mr. Bennett, I haven't confused you with Neve, so you don't need to think too much about it. The
responsibility for the car indeed lies with you, but Zane has connections, and the cost won't be much. If
you still want to bear the expenses, I will make sure to provide you with a breakdown and send it to you
later," Yanis assured Adam.
Adam nodded after hearing Yanis' words, "Alright then, I won't bother you today."
Yanis responded with a soft "Mm."
Adam didn't linger any longer and turned to leave.
In fact, Yanis felt somewhat resistant after learning about Adam's relationship with Neve.
Subconsciously, she didn't want to have any connection with anyone related to Neve again.
"Yanis, who was that just now? He looks pretty good. Is he your admirer or something?" Linda
approached from the side, not sure when she came over.
Yanis looked at Linda and asked, "Are you done with your work?"
Linda replied, "The customers took away all the dresses earlier, so I came over to see if there was
anything I could help with."
Yanis glanced at the shattered glass strewn across the floor and said, "I've arranged for someone to
clean up, so you don't need to do anything. If you really want to help, organize the undamaged items
inside for me, but be careful not to cut yourself."
Linda nodded, "Don't worry, I've got it."
After the shop was cleaned and tidied, it appeared somewhat empty.
"Yanis, we'll have to rearrange the shop again," Linda said after organizing the items and handing
Yanis a glass of water.
Yanis accepted the water and took a few sips, "Let's have someone come in and do it these days.
Didn't Bonnie say that we should knock down the walls on both sides and expand? It's a good
opportunity to get it all done together."
Linda glanced at the walls on one side and suggested, "Then I'll move the displays to the other side for
now. Once the construction starts, we can just use boards to block it off."
"No need to block it, let's just close the shop temporarily for renovations. It would be better to do an
overall revamp," Linda had just finished speaking when Bonnie's voice came from the entrance.
Upon hearing the voice, Yanis turned around and asked, "Why did you come? Weren't you supposed to
rest at home?"
