Chapter 1098: I Hope I'm the Tenth One
Nelson stood in the restroom, phone in hand, for quite some time before finally putting it away and
heading out. Just as he was leaving, he coincidentally bumped into Sandy coming out of the women's
restroom.
Nelson paused his steps and smiled at Sandy, "Hey, sis-in-law."
Sandy nodded in acknowledgment, recalling what she had overheard, "Your... family doesn't know?"
Upon hearing Sandy's question, Nelson let out a wry chuckle, "It's a tricky path. If I tell them too early,
they might dig a ten-meter-deep hole in front of me to bury me."
Sandy laughed softly at Nelson's reply, "So, have you figured out how to tell them? What if your family
doesn't agree?"
"In situations like this, out of ten families, nine won't agree. I hope I'm the tenth," Nelson replied with a
sigh.
Sandy nodded, "May your wish come true."
"Thanks."
Changing the subject, Nelson suggested, "Let's head back. Brandon might get worried if he can't find
you."
Sandy agreed with a nod and followed Nelson.
Seeing Sandy and Nelson approaching, Brandon and Jim, who had been engrossed in a conversation,
glanced over. "Why are you two together now? Weren't you going to fetch something?" Brandon asked.
Jim turned to Nelson and inquired, "What happened?"
Nelson sighed, "Brandon said he forgot something in the office. It's not in the car."
Having known each other for years, Nelson and Brandon shared an unspoken understanding. "Yeah, I
left something on my desk. Made Nelson run all the way for nothing," Brandon added casually.
Jim accepted their explanation without further thought. "Have you picked out your dresses?"
Sandy responded, "We've chosen a few and tried them on. They look great."
Jim nodded, "I'll have my assistant help you finalize your choices. Once you've selected the dresses,
give them to me, and I'll find matching suits for Mr. Hawkins."
Sandy handed over her tablet, showing Jim the selected dresses. After reviewing them, Jim nodded,
"Nelson, come with me to get them."
Jim turned to Brandon and Sandy, "You two continue."
Brandon agreed, "Sure."
As Jim and Nelson walked away, Sandy approached Brandon, "Brandon, do you think they can really
make it?"
Brandon focused his gaze on Sandy, "Why the sudden question?"
Sandy recounted the restroom conversation to him in a hushed tone, "I think Nelson has something on
his mind, and Jim doesn't know."
Brandon replied, "This path was never an easy one. Whether they succeed or not depends on them."
"If their families don't support them, the road will only get harder."
Sandy, being part of the entertainment industry, had witnessed her fair share of similar situations. She
knew that Nelson and Jim's case wasn't unique.
The worst outcome could involve physical and emotional pain for both parties, and their families might
be exhausted as well. If things went well, the relationship might survive, but if luck wasn't on their side,
they might never reconcile and even become enemies.
Sandy sighed, "I hope they're the lucky ones."
Brandon reached out and gently ruffled Sandy's hair, "Let's focus on the dress shopping. Nelson will
handle his own matters." From NôvelDrama.Org.
Sandy nodded, not pressing the issue any further. After all, Nelson and Jim's relationship was a private
matter, and they had no right to interfere.
In the men's formal wear department, Jim diligently helped Brandon find a matching suit for Sandy's
dress. Once they were done, he turned his attention to Nelson, who seemed distracted.
"You lied just now," Jim suddenly said.
Taken aback, Nelson looked at Jim, "What?"
"You didn't go to get Mr. Hawkins' things. You were lying," Jim stated matter-of-factly.
Jim took the last suit off the rack and handed it to Nelson. "Care to explain?"
Nelson hesitated for a moment, then put the suit he was holding back on the rack before speaking, "I
really went to get the things. You…"
"Nelson, every time you lie, you avoid looking me in the eyes," Jim interrupted.
Nelson let out a deep breath and finally confessed, "I went to see your mom."
Jim's eyebrows furrowed upon hearing this. "What did she say? Did she ask you to leave me? Or was it
something else?"
"Why ask so many questions at once? Which one do you want me to answer first?" Nelson retorted.
Rubbing his temples, Jim replied, "Her attitude wasn't one of opposition, was it?"
Nelson simply responded, "That's right."
"Then why are you so distracted? Don't lie to me!" Jim took a step closer to Nelson. "I don't care what
you're thinking about, but let me make one thing clear: Once I've made a decision, no one can change
it. As long as I'm alive, I won't change the person I've chosen. So you better put away whatever
thoughts you have!"
Nelson met Jim's gaze and couldn't help but smile. He pushed Jim away gently, "Why are you getting
so close? Do you want me to run away?"
Jim stared at him and stated firmly, "I don't care what you're thinking. Just know that I won't be swayed.
The decisions I've made stand, and the person I've chosen won't change. It's in your best interest to
keep your thoughts to yourself!"
Nelson laughed at Jim's words, "Alright, alright. I know you prefer the obedient type."
Jim gave him a pointed look, then shook his head and asked casually, "Are you joining Mr. Hawkins
and the others for dinner tonight?"
"Probably… not," Nelson replied.
"Why?"
"My mom said she's not feeling well. I'll go check on her, and it's been a while since I've been home."
Jim didn't doubt Nelson's words. "Alright, you go. I'll join them for dinner in your place."
"Thanks," Nelson nodded.
Later in the evening, the group emerged from the photography studio. After exchanging greetings,
Nelson left with Brandon and Sandy. Left behind, Jim, Brandon, and Sandy headed to the restaurant
they had previously arranged.
Since Jim and Nelson weren't very familiar, the meal ended after some casual conversation. Sandy,
who hadn't eaten much, appeared a bit downcast as she walked, her body almost leaning against
Brandon.
"What's wrong? Feeling unwell?" Brandon asked.
Sandy shook her head, "I just suddenly started worrying about Nelson."
Brandon raised an eyebrow, "When did you two become so close?"
Sandy explained, "We're like sisters now."
Brandon didn't quite understand Sandy's interpretation of their relationship but replied softly, "Nelson
isn't impulsive. He's nearly thirty, and he knows what he's doing. You don't need to worry."
"What if the Penn family doesn't agree? Knowing Nelson, how do you think he'll react?" Sandy
inquired.
Brandon stopped walking and looked at Sandy, "He
might cut ties with his family."
Sandy had considered this possibility herself. "It's a tough road ahead."
Sighing, Sandy murmured, "I hope they're the lucky ones."
Brandon reached out, lightly tousling Sandy's hair, "Let's focus on the dress shopping. Nelson will
handle his own matters."
With a nod, Sandy agreed. She understood that Nelson and Jim's relationship was their own, and
outsiders like her and Brandon had to give them space to figure things out.
