How I Remarry My Ex-Wife by Alvin Humphre

Chapter 6

In the ward, Quincey still seemed sickly as she said feebly, “Don’t fight with Ms. Collins because of me. Thiago. Go talk to her.”

Thiago wasn’t having any of it. Talk to her? As if he scoffed in his mind.

Picking up the divorce papers that Whitney had thrown on the hospital bed. Thiago let out a disdainful snort.

“Why wait for tomorrow if she really wants a divorce? Wouldn’t it be better to get this over with right away? Trying to threaten me with a divorce just so I’ll ask her to stay? In her dreams! he thought.

Right when Thiago casually set the divorce papers aside, Quincey’s worried words reached his ears. “Thiago, didn’t you say that Mackenzie Corporation will soon start its second round of investment? Would the divorce affect the company? I don’t want you to get divorced because of me, much less for you to suffer any losses. I’m sorry, Thiago. This is all my fault…” Material © NôvelDrama.Org.

Hearing that, Thiago froze. Speaking of losses… Whitney’s having her eyes on my money, huh? I knew this girl is not as naive as she looks!‘ he muttered to himself.

The next moment, Thiago picked up the divorce papers in a huff. Yet, in the section of property division, all he saw was a line that read: [All matrimonial property will be awarded to the husband. The wife will voluntarily leave the marriage with nothing.]

“What? Whitney’s leaving without wanting anything? How’s that possible! Thiago asked himself.

“Thiago, how much money did Whitney demand? If it’s not that much, let me do it… Quincey stole a glance at Thiago’s long face before concealing the smugness in her eyes. “Did she demand an unreasonable amount? Her greed must know no bounds…

No longer could Thiago listen to Quincey’s speech. He got up and strode away with the divorce papers.

Meanwhile, inside the red convertible, Whitney stared blankly at the fleeting scenery outside with mixed emotions. Then her phone buzzed.

When she saw it was her big brother Myles Greene calling–a guy who hardly ever rang her up–she froze. Shooting Jonah a look, she asked, “You told Myles about the divorce?”

“Sure did. Divorce is big news! Needs to be celebrated, right?” replied Jonah, feigning innocence.

Whitney just shook her head. “Divorces aren’t exactly party material, she mused, then answered the call.

Before she could say hi, Myles‘ commanding tone filled her ear. “Winnie, listen, the Greenes have got your always. Don’t let some dude break your heart, okay?”

back,

For a long time, Whitney had been putting on a strong façade. She might pretend to be tough, but Myles‘ words knocked down her protective walls

After hanging up the call, Whitney could not help sobbing. When she went back to the Greenes–this top–tier family at 18, she didn’t want to overshadow Thiago. So, against her brothers‘ advice, she kept her Greene heritage under wraps and married Thiago as some unknown

In the end, her family chose to respect her decision.

And now, with divorce on the table, Myles was still solidly in her corner, no questions asked. That family bond hit Whitney hard.

Through the intersection, Jonah glanced at Whitney as she cried. A pang hit him, watching someone strong break down. That moment, his laid–back act faded, and pure venom flashed in his eyes.

“Thiago Mackenzie, he swore silently, seething with anger. He made a promise to himself then and there–none of Whitney’s hurt would be for nothing.
