CHAPTER LXIII
She would surely be oblivious to what happened. Both Chase and the man that had intended to shoot her had their guns on silencer. Sophia didn’t hear the guns going off and didn’t see when Chase had even brought out his gun and returned it back to his pocket.
Chase nodded at her. “I’m fine,” His jaw clenched when Sophia placed her hand on his shoulder and unintentionally pressed the bullet wound there. “Dammit, fuck!,”
Feeling something warm and sticky on her fingers, Sophia pulled her hand away and gasped when she saw blood on it. “You -” She looked at Chase’s face. “You’re bleeding! How – how did it happen?”
“It’s nothing serious. I’m okay,” He managed to stand up and held her wrist. “Come, I’ll take you somewhere else,”
Sophia ignored him and yanked her wrist from his palm. Turning around, her eyes fell on the injury. “How did you get shot? What happened?” She was too concentrated on him that she didn’t see the other man’s body laying dead behind them.
Sophia made him bend down on his knees.
Chase sighed. “I told you it’s okay. Let’s go. I’m not going to die,”
She ignored him again and leaned in to blow the injury. “You-you’re going to be okay,” She then tore a fabric from her dress, staining the dress with her bloodied hand. Her hands were shaking, but she ignored them. All she wanted was to see Chase okay. “I-I’ll tie this around your shoulder to apply pressure on the wound. It-It would stop the blood from rushing too much,” That was something she’d had learnt once during studying. She wasn’t yet a successful nurse but she could still help save him before everything got settled.
“No, Gattina,” Chase growled. “Just leave it. It’s not safe here,”

“What if something happens to you?” She raised one of his arms up and wrapped the torn fabric there, covering the wound tightly with it. She then moved to his front and tied it, ignoring his protests. “See? It’s all done,” She placed both of her small arms under his arms and helped him stand on his feet. “We-we can go wherever you want us to go now. I-I’m sure there’ll be a first aid kit there,” She wrapped his other arm gently around her shoulders.
“Your shoulders will hurt,” He said. “You’re too small compared to me,”
Sophia stopped and turned to him. “You didn’t think about it all those times you used to do those things to me,” A blush crept up her face and neck. “Allow me to do this, please,”
~~~
“Easy,” Sophia whispered and dropped Chase on the ground and turned to lock the door. “Are you comfortable seated here?”
Chase groaned and nodded. “I am,”
Sophia turned and locked the door of the room and began to open some drawers. They had finally found somewhere to stay in until everything was settled and everywhere was safe.
“What are you looking for?” Chase tried to stand up.
Sophia was quick to turn and pushed him back to sit down, throwing a small glare his way. “Just sit here. I’m looking for the first aid box in there,”
“I don’t need a fucking first aid box. My men are out there shooting at those bastards. I need to be there,”
Sophia placed her hands on her hips and her glare deepened. “You can’t go anywhere in that condition,” She pointed at his injured shoulder, then looked back into his eyes, determination and stubbornness swivelling in hers’. “They should understand that,”
“You’re fucking stubborn,” He flashed her his billion dollar smile and her heart skipped a bit.
She hoped her heart wouldn’t drop from skipping too much. Was that even possible? Sophia mentally smacked the back of her shoulder.This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
To hide the blush that had crept up her face, Sophia turned and continued opening the drawers until her eyes fell on a transparent box. Her eyes lit up, and she brought it out, showing it to him. “See, I found a first aid kit,”
“How are you going to use that?” Chase looked at the box in her and looked back at her as she knelt in front of him.
“I’m a nursing student, Chase,” She said and dropped the box beside her. She leaned in to loosen the knot she tied on the fabric, trying hard to ignore the way his harsh, rugged warm breath fanned her forehead.
Sophia peaked at him through her lashes, only to find him staring at her with an intensity which made those butterflies in her stomach wake up again. Her breath hitched and her lips parted. Her fingers on the knots of the fabric froze.
Chase gaze flickered to Sophia’s lips and he stared back at her innocent eyes. Her eyes told him things he didn’t believe. Her eyes told him she wanted him as much as he wanted her at that moment. Her eyes screamed the words ‘fuck me’ and he gulped lowly, telling himself he was only imagining things.
Sophia hated him. She didn’t want him like that. That was what he thought.
“Gattina,” His voice came out hoarse, thick with restraint.
{“Kitten”}
She whispered out. “Chase,”
He gulped again, maintaining eye contact. “Don’t look at me like that. Stop it,”
Her eyes fell on his lips and she didn’t miss the way his tongue came out to lick his lower lip, before she stared back into his eyes. “How? H-how am I looking at you?”
“Like that,” He swallowed a huge lump of saliva. Chase’s hands suddenly had a mind of their own. One of them held her waist in a firm grip while the other travelled to the nape of her neck, caressing the skin. “As if you want me to eat you. You’re staring at me as if you want me to fuck you into oblivion,”
Was it that obvious? Sophia’s face turned beetroot red and she bit down on her lower lip.
However, Chase didn’t miss that slight movement. His eyes locked back on hers. “Don’t do that?”
Her hands that were on the knots were already caressing his chest innocently. “What?”
He stared at her lips as she pulled it again with her teeth. “Don’t do that. Don’t bite down on your lip. I only have a little control over here,” Fuck. He was so hard. So painfully hard and he was sure he’d end up with the blue balls. So much for wanting to give her space. After one month of ignoring her, he was back to her again, losing every ounce of his self-control.
Just like Saige had done, Sophia leaned in, brushing their lips together. “Kiss me like you kissed her,”
Chase froze on the spot, unable to pull his eyes from her captivating ones. So she had seen them? “You -”
She cut him off by brushing their lips again. “I don’t care. Just kiss me or I’ll do it myself even if I’m inexperienced,”
“Gatt -,”
Chase’s remaining words were swallowed by Sophia as she pressed her soft, warm and full lips on his thin ones.
