CHAPTER LVIII

With that, he roughly pushed her head away and got down from the bed. He wore his trousers back and left the room, tucking his gun in his trousers holster.
It was time to meet the person he suspected of helping Sophia escape.

Saige took a sip from her wine, smiling at herself in the mirror. She was dressed in a red mid-thigh length dress, which hugged her body in all the right places. She had a pair of stilettos on and was ready to head to Chase’s mansion.
She giggled at the sight of her hair and eyes in the mirror. She had died her fiery red hair to a chest nut brown color and was putting on a brown contact lenses. It was foolish of her, she knew but that was what attracted Chase to Sophia, wasn’t it?
She was sure now that Sophia wasn’t in their lives again, Chase would want her. He didn’t want her before, but with that hair and eye color, she could have him.
Her mind reeled back to Sophia, and she stared at the time on the alarm clock on her bedside table. Sophia’s flight must’ve taken off, and maybe the bomb must’ve exploded too with her.
Saige shook her head at her thoughts. Sophia wouldn’t even have made it to the plane. She’d probably be in the station by then because of the drugs in her bag.
A sigh left her lips, and Saige sat down on her large bed. She felt really bad for what she did. She felt guilty. But it had to be done. She knew Chase would eventually find Sophia again, so she had taken that step at the last minute after thinking about it.
But then, with time, the guilt would wash away. She was sure of that.
Saige frowned when she heard the loud voices coming from downstairs, and she stood up immediately hearing the loud sound of footsteps coming towards her room. Were they under attack? Was her dad okay?
Before she could do anything else, the door knob turned, and her heart skipped a bit at the sight of Chase standing there. His hair was disheveled and his dark eyes looked angry, piercing her with such an intensity she was sure she felt her core clenching.
Her nose caught a whiff of something other than his usual sandalwood scent as he marched towards her, and her heart threatened to leap out of her throat. He smelt like sex! He had sex with someone before coming to her place.
It couldn’t be Sophia, right?
Saige swallowed a lump of saliva and passed him a sweet smile. “Cha-Don,”
“Piantala con queste stronzate e dimmi la verita, Saige. L’hai aiutata a scappare o no?” When Saige said nothing, he stared into her eyes coldly, without even caring about the sudden change in its color. “Non osare mentirmi. Sai di cosa sono capace,”
{“Cut the crap and tell me the truth, Saige. Did you help her escape or not?”} {“Don’t you dare lie to me. You know what I’m capable of. “}
Saige took a step back and Chase took a step forward also. She took another one and he took another one towards her, copying her movements until he cornered her against the wall. She gulped lowly, feeling the sweat trickling down her forehead. “What-what do you mean? Who are you -”
Chase wrapped his fingers around her neck and pressed it tightly, choking the air out of her lungs. “I’m trying so hard not to bury my bullets in your head, I’m letting you live because of the respect I have for your father, Saige but the more you keep on lying, I swear I won’t hesitate to forget the respect I have for your father. I’ll end both of your lives,”
If it was in any other situation, Saige would have been happy. She wouldn’t have been happy to be caged like that by the man she loved into submission but at that moment, it was anything like that. She was being threatened to say the truth about how she got rid of the obstacle in her happiness with him.
She clawed on his hands, tears blurring her vision. “Ple-,” She opened her mouth to grasp some air. It wasn’t possible. She couldn’t breathe. Chase was going to suffocate her to death.
“What the fuck are you doing?” Saige’s father appeared by the doorway. He rushed towards them as he sighted his daughter’s pale face. “Let go off her. She has done nothing wrong!”
Chase ignored De Luca and fished out his gun from his trouser holster then pointed it directly at Saige’s forehead, the barrel scraping against her skin. “Dimmi la verita, Saige,”
{“Tell me the truth, Saige”}
Her eyes widened. He was really going to carry out his threat. She tapped against his hand, nodding her head with a few drops of tears falling down her eyes.
On seeing this, Chase released his hold on her throat, not dropping his gun from where it was before.
Saige coughed and tried to move away but Chase gripped her arm viscously. “Dove cazzo stai andando?”

“I-,” She coughed. “I need water,”
Chase slammed her back against the wall and glared at her. “I didn’t let you drink water, did I? Tell me the truth. Tell me why you helped her escape? Why the fuck did you leave those drugs in her bag?”
“I-,” She sobbed. “I wanted her gone. I was jealous. You wanted her. You didn’t want me. You never stared at me the way you did with her. You never made a move to acknowledge my advances towards you. With her, she didn’t need to seduce you into touching her. I – I was really upset. I – ahhh, “Saige crouched on her knees and clutched her arm in pain, blood seeping from the wound there.
Chase had shot her on the arm.
He stared at her father, then back at her. “Ti mandero un dottore,”
{“I’ll send you a doctor”}
With that, he was gone.
