Chapter 380
Chapter 380
Aria
Wandering off, I skipped inside the warehouse, trying not to grab anyone’s attention. Everyone was occupied with work, I was near invisible, and they didn’t even notice me.
Maybe Christian should rethink his security.
The first thought that occurred to me was to steal something from his office, so I walked to the halls, which were also unprotected. Either Christian didn’t keep valuable stuff around, or he trusted his men enough to believe they wouldn’t do anything they weren’t supposed to.
Would he have CCTV around?
No, I strongly doubted that. He looked like one of those typical pricks that knew how to persuade his wife to have wild sex in his office.
Rumor had it. That’s how his daughter Siena was created.
Standing in front of his office, I knocked on the door. “Hello?” I called out, but there was no answer.
In a hurry, I opened the door, which was not even locked, and made a run for his coat. If he had come straight from home, there had to be something inside his pocket.
“This guy is just a brainless idiot,” I whispered, laughing at his trust in his people. I mean, come on- leaving the door unlocked?
I stuck my hands inside his pockets and pulled out two different items. Two pieces of jewelry.
One was a ring, engraved with his wife’s name, and the other piece was a necklace, engraved with the initials LL
My plan wasn’t for him to go crazy and kill all of us, so I settled for the necklace. The other item was undeniably his wedding ring, and I didn’t want to mess with that.
The necklace did not look important, but since it was stored away with his ring-important enough for him to cause a fuss.
In case of any trouble, I left the office, and I was desperate to remain unseen.
I felt terrible for the J brothers, but I had to frame someone, and unfortunately, they fit the profile to become my victim.
Young, inexperienced, new on the job…perfect.
I stopped in my steps as I heard several male voices in the hall and hid behind the corner. Squinting my

eyes.
It was Christian and Beau with two other men.
“Be careful with that thing, boss.” One of the men spoke, pointing at the weapon in his hands.
“It’s loaded.”
Christian clicked his tongue. “I’m always careful.”
“You’ll put a bullet in someone with that thing.” The other guy spoke. “Same way you did, Fabio Garcia.”
My heart sank as Christian laughed at the cruel joke one of his men made. It was a sensitive subject, and after Vince had scolded me about it, I knew all too well that it wasn’t something to poke fun at.
It looked like his friend’ didn’t feel the same.
“We shouldn’t joke around like that. It’s not fair towards Vince.” Beau opened his mouth.
“Speaking of Vince. Has anyone seen him around? I think he should be here by now.”
“No.”
“I heard he’s lazy. At one point, he was asleep for half a year.” One of the men joked around again, referring to Vince’s coma.
Meanwhile, Christian just stood there, smiling.
Was this the way his friends had his back?
Were they really this disrespectful?
Holding myself back not to go up there and smacking him, I squeezed the necklace in my hand.
Just you wait, and we’ll see who will be laughing.
“Don’t talk about him like that.” For the second time in a row, Beau had put a stop to it. I didn’t like him, not at all. He was a bad influence and not good for my Vince, but at least he knew how to stand up for him.
“Our bad.” The man apologized, rolling his eyes. “I forgot the two of you were married.” He said. “Now that we’re on the subject of marriage, what do you think about his wife? Do you think she’ll be here today -she’s hot, isn’t she?”
Stay calm, Aria.
I breathed through my nose and exhaled. How the hell did I get involved?
“W-well” Christian stuttered, scratching his neck. He turned to Beau for support and bumped his shoulder.
“Don’t set him up,” Beau said. “You know how my sister gets.”
The guy clapped his hand, widening his eyes. “Damn, I forgot!” He shouted. “Didn’t she drag your ex assistant over the ground after you ch-”
A loud and forceful laugh came from Beau’s lips.
“I’m having a good day today. Let’s not bring back the past.”
What happened in the past?
“What do you think of her?” One of the men asked him.
I knew Beau wouldn’t beat around the bush, but I didn’t care. We didn’t get along, and other than him standing up for Vince, I didn’t have any good words for him either.
“Hmm, let’s see.” He began. “She doesn’t seem to have any brains, only knows how to rely on daddy- but sure, she’s pretty to look at.”
That’s nice of him. He even managed to throw in a small compliment.
“So they’re alike?” The guy commented. “She’s the perfect match for Vince!”
The group of men, including Christian, laughed at his dumb joke. I didn’t know how he did it. Laugh at his friend who had gone through a difficult time behind his back, and laugh in his face, pretending to be some hero. Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Beau’s face tensed. I could tell by his uncomfortable posture that he didn’t appreciate the joke, which was hilarious, considering he was pretty high on the list of the most horrible people I ever met.
“I don’t think we should talk about Vince while he’s not here to defend himself.” He had protected him yet another time.
Even though he had betrayed him to work for Christian, his friendship with Vince remained genuine.
“You’re the same as your father, always so…good.” Christian punched his back. “I think what he meant to say is that both of them need someone to rely on. Aria has her daddy. Vince has us.”
How dared he?
So much for pretending to like me.
It wasn’t even about me-it was about Vince. If this was the way Christian spoke about my husband in the open, I would love to know what more he had to say behind closed doors.
The two toddlers threw back their heads in laughter while Christian shook his head. “No, no-it wasn’t supposed to come out like that!” I didn’t know who he planned on fooling. “You know I’d never mock him like that.” He explained himself to Beau.
I looked down at my balled fist.
He could explain himself all he wanted.
He could do that, and after I would be done with him-Vince could explain to him how we wouldn’t do any business with the Lambertis anymore.
