I keep muttering these to myself, as if, I’m chanting a spell. What the hell was that? Did I see things right, or I’m just hallucinating? No, that’s not possible, I’m fucking wide awake, that’s real.

Oh my god, what did I witness?

I’m still standing outside the building, the lights were dimmed since it’s past office hours, so I don’t think there would be any soul, except for the guards. I tried to catch my breath again, I halt when I saw Zachary, casually walking on the opposite side of the road. I don’t know what got into me, my feet automatically followed him.

He stopped two blocks away from the company, and enter a shop, a pet shop to be exact, my brow furrowed, trying to figure out why he went there, he lasted inside for a couple of minutes, and he went out, with a rabbit on his arm.

He starts to walk again, and I followed him, I made sure I have enough distance from him, I can’t risk my safety, I don’t know, I just want to know, what he will do with that animal. He’s into animals? What the heck? His actions were odd.

He went to a narrow pathway, I stopped walking, thinking twice if I should still tail him, but my curiosity take over on my system-that followed him.

There, I saw him devouring the rabbit he just bought! My heartbeat doubled, my eyes grew widen and I can’t seem to hold my breath properly. What the hell! What the hell is this?! I saw how his eyes flicker, from raven black to shining gold, it compliments the moon, his fangs grew longer than what I saw earlier.

I step backward until I found myself running from that pathway. What the hell did I just witness?!

NO, That wasn’t a dream. I tried to convince myself, but it was no use. I locked my door, at run to my room, sat at my table, and open my laptop. I start to search for the unbelievable things I just witness today. My keyboard clacking and my uneven breath were the only sound inside my room.

Vrykolakas, or bloodsucking monsters, were discovered in the 10th era, they are known for killing humans by sucking blood-I blinked twice, and laughed at myself, not because I don’t believe, but because the fact that I almost lost my life today made it odd. What’s with me, that I want to know what kind of creature is Zachary?

I looked at the screen mirror again. Contemplating between two unbelievable creatures. He is either of the two and since I don’t have any idea what I’m getting into, I planned to make myself safe.

He is either a vampire or a werewolf; I think I know what.

THE NEXT DAY, I came early to the company, and start to work even, working hours will start, at night o’clock, and I timed in at seven. I want to finish my pending tasks.

I busied myself to the tasks and even made a handover job duties, I made sure that there will nothing be left behind, I want to end this day, without me, getting afraid about my life. At eight o’clock, employees starts to fill their chairs, the empty hall became crowded.

I stretch and stood up, and went to the pantry to make myself a coffee. The hot liquid that went through my throat filled and relax my system, no wonder why coffee is a god of the morning.

“Vera, you seemed busy today, you got in, earlier than usual,” Allian asked, as she was making herself a coffee. She’s one of the best story-makers in this department. She has the ability to ruin your reputation, or worst your life.

“Yeah, I have tons of things to do,” I replied.

“Hey, I saw you last night, with our president..” I stopped myself from abruptly looking at her, as her voice sounded like her mind-dirty.

“I can’t remember we joined together for anything,” I tried to sound as nonchalant, as possible, even though my heart is about to burst, remembering what I witnessed last night.

“You knew each other? I bet you do, you followed him until I can’t see the both of you,” she leaned on the coffee table, “Don’t worry, this news is exclusively for me, I won’t tell-”

“Allian, first of all, of course, we knew each other, secondly, we are bound with employee and employer relationship, and third, don’t start making false news about me, or I’ll shut you up, myself,”

With that, I exited the pantry, with a mug in my hand, I focused on my tasks, and do everything, as smoothly and fast as possible. I can see and hear Allian, trying to get sympathy from the other employees, which I obviously don’t care about.

I didn’t take my lunch and spent the rest of the day at my workplace, some of them ask me to join them for lunch, which I declined. My day went like that, my alarm rang up, it was six o’clock in the evening, and it was time to go home.

I already emptied and clean my desk. I grabbed my handbag and put out my resignation letter. I went straight to Zachary’s office, I knocked, and saw him, in front of piles of paperwork. His gaze turns up on me, confusion and shock briefly crossed his eyes, he removed his glasses and leans on his swiveled chair.

“Ms. Everleigh, what brings you here?” I want to laugh at his remarks, does he really don’t remember what happened last night?

“I’m filing my resignation,” I said, and put my letter in front of his desk. His brow furrowed, “I have found a more suitable job for me,” I said, of course, that’s an excuse.

“Ms. Everleigh,” Zachary stood up, I have to look up, because of our significant height difference, “This company isn’t a fast food chain, that you can come and go, do you think this is a joke?”

“No, and I’m not even kidding, Mr. President, I want my resignation to be effective immediately,” I want to congratulate myself for not stuttering.

“Hmm, I see,” he sat at the edge of the table, and now, we are at a short distance, our faces were just a few inches away, “You saw me last night, didn’t you, Vera?” I met his eyes, it’s now back to pitch black color, I tried to avoid his gaze, but he held my chin, and force me to look at him.

I gritted my teeth, “Yes, and I can’t work for someone who might be the death of me, I don’t even know you, and what are you,” I heard him chuckle, of course, that’s a lie, I know what he is, I did my full research last night.

“Based on the bags under your eyes, you didn’t sleep, even a blink, you must have done your research the whole night, what am I, Vera?”

I bite my tongue to stop it from speaking, but he held my face, and my hair, I don’t know what was happening to me, and I found myself looking and drowning at his pitch-black eyes, with some hair strands on them.

“Tell me, what am I, Vera, I know you already know,” I didn’t answer, “Tell me,” his voice has traces of annoyance, “Tell me, I won’t repeat myself again, tell me, Vera,”

“You’re unbelievably fast, you have this surreal face, and-and what I saw last night,”

“What did you see?” he asked again, I felt something on my stomach, what is this? Is this danger? Anxiety, this better not be a feeling of excitement.

“Killing the rabbit, by sucking its blood,”

“Hmm, what am I now?”
