Chapter 61
Chapter 61
Joseline’s lips twitched into an uneasy smile as she tried to hide her discomfort. “Thank you.”
Angeline’s gaze then fell on Joseline’s stomach. Feigning shock, Angeline said, “It looks larger compared to the last time. You should be due this year, right?”
“It’s not that much larger,” Joseline replied, her brows knitted together and her voice slightly irritated. “I’m just three and a half months along. There’s still plenty of time before my due date.”
The more irritable Joseline looked, the wider the smile on Angeline’s face. The latter even took the initiative to walk up to Joseline and caress her stomach.
“I’ve heard that it’s best to be cautious throughout the first few months. Isn’t it risky for you to have your wedding so suddenly? What if you harm your child due to fatigue? Aren’t you worried that accidents might happen?” Angeline asked.
The word “accidents” sparked something within Joseline. Her expression darkened as she snapped, “You’d better watch your words, Angeline!”
Just then, a booming voice of a man was heard. “I see you’ve arrived.”
It was Wilfred, who wore a bright red coat, walking out from the banquet hall. His hair was whiter than before, and he had a stern expression.
His gaze darkened upon seeing Angeline. With an unimpressed tone, he said, “You had better get in quickly since you’re here. Stop making a fool of yourself and move along.”
Angeline could not help but scoff inwardly after hearing Wilfred’s words. She lost interest in staying there longer and made her way into the banquet hall.
Joseline was infuriated by Angeline’s attitude. She pulled onto Wilfred’s shoulder and whined, “Look at Angeline, Grandpa. She didn’t even greet you when she saw you. It’s clear that she does not respect
you. The more I think about it, the angrier I get.”
Wilfred only shook his head in disappointment. “Let it go. You’re someone who’s about to become a mother. Thus, you should keep that temper of yours in check. Don’t you know what day it is?”
If it were not for Wilfred, Joseline would have argued with Angeline there and then, and it would have been a messy scene to handle had the argument happened.
Hanson’s brows were twisted into a frown as he looked at Joseline’s appearance. Her figure was bound to change because of her pregnancy. As a result, she concentrated all of her efforts on her face, where she wore heavy makeup and a variety of accessories.
Hanson could not help but picture Angeline’s sweet, beautiful face. She had just returned from court and had no makeup on. Aside from that, although she wore a plain-looking dress, she nevertheless managed to stand out.
Considering that she worked in the entertainment industry, Angeline took exceptional care of her skin. Hence, her bare face was still eye-catching among others.
At that moment, the stark difference between the two sisters was immediately apparent.
Hanson’s heart still raced as he recalled the time he had hugged Angeline in the water. Joseline, who was in front of him, did not seem as appealing after that thought.
Due to the Yiurk family’s and the Sorelle family’s extensive working relationship in the entertainment industry, many connections had been made. Additionally, both families had a large spread of acquaintances and relatives throughout the globe, so with business in mind, they had thus planned a lavish wedding.
Right then, the banquet hall was filled to the brim with guests. Each had a glass in hand and was busy chatting about business.
The wives of the various businessmen, on the other hand, took notice of Angeline and began gossiping about her.
“Hey, isn’t that the celebrity Angeline? I heard that she was in jail. How is she here?”
“Did none of you see the news earlier? It was stated that she hired a skilled lawyer and has already been acquitted of all counts by the court.”
“Gosh, doesn’t this mean that she’s still a criminal?”
The word “criminal” had hit a nerve within Angeline. She tipped her glass and drank everything inside before getting a new glass and going over to the group of women. “I can’t help but wonder, were you all talking about me?”
Angeline’s lips were quirked into a faint smile as she saw how the women were frightened and backed up when she came near them. As if on cue, they even waved their hands in sync.
“No. You’ve misheard us.”
“I suppose so.” Angeline chuckled softly. “I just stopped by to say hello. Please ask me whatever you want. I’m happy to let you all in on my prison life.”
Without even waiting for a reply, Angeline downed her glass of wine.
The women were rendered speechless as they exchanged glances. Their arrogance from earlier disappeared in an instant.
Who would want to listen about life in prison? Is she mad?
Angeline saw how the women were avoiding her gaze and were silent. She set her glass down and then turned to leave.
The women eventually recovered their composure and stared at Angeline’s eye-catching back with fear.
“This woman isn’t someone we should mess with. Did you all see that look in her eyes earlier? It was terrifying!”
“I believe she is the Sorelle family’s second daughter. I even heard that she dated Hanson five years ago, but Joseline snatched him away.”
“I finally get it after hearing your words! Angeline has a specific reason for being here today… She’s come to wreck the wedding!”
“I hate homewreckers!”
Joseline’s expression darkened upon hearing the discussions in the banquet hall.
From time to time, she even heard words like “homewrecker” being thrown around, making her angrier than before. I knew that the d*mned w*nch, Angeline, was here to make things difficult for me!
Joseline pulled onto Hanson’s shoulder and whined impatiently, “Do something about it.”
Hanson’s expression turned grim as his long fingers massaged his temples.
He called for his assistant and ordered, “Tell the host that the wedding ceremony has been brought forward and will start now.” Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Yes, Mr. Yiurk,” replied the assistant.
Shortly after, the host appeared on the stage with a microphone. “Dear guests, please settle down. The wedding ceremony will now officially begin. I would first like to invite the bride and groom on stage.”
Joseline was delighted upon hearing the host’s words and immediately clung to Hanson’s arm.
Many pairs of eyes followed them as they walked across the banquet hall and finally to the center of the stage, standing next to the host.
After teasing the couple, the host successfully diverted everyone’s attention away from Joseline’s reputation as a homewrecker and turned the sounds of gossip into blessings.
Angeline stood in the second row among the crowd. Her icy stare was directed at the couple standing on stage as her fingers dug deep into her palms.
Hypocrites!
After a while, the host invited the couple’s family members to join them on stage. Hanson had been living with his mother, Wendy Langford, his whole life. Thus, she was his representative. Joseline’s representative, on the other hand, was Wilfred.
No one mentioned Angeline at all.
The host passed the microphone to Wendy first before asking, “How do you feel upon seeing your son marrying his wife?”
Wendy laughed. “Of course, I feel excited. I’ve been watching these two kids grow up together. I truly feel happy that they’re finally getting married to each other.”
Angeline could only clench her fists as tears welled up in her eyes.
Meanwhile, the guests below the stage applauded upon hearing Wendy’s words.
The host then passed the microphone to Wilfred. Laughing, the host said, “I already see the tears in your eyes, Old Mr. Sorelle. You must be experiencing a range of emotions knowing that your granddaughter is going to be married.”
