Her Precious Baby

Chapter 103

Chapter 103

Immediately after that, she picked up the thermal container from the table and said with a smile, “I specifically instructed the housekeeper to prepare mushroom soup. Since you haven’t eaten yet, Evander, come and have some.”

“Thank you,” Evander responded, his tone a little less icy than before.

Evander helped her get a few small bowls from the cupboard and filled them with soup.

Not only were they very much in sync with one another, but they also looked great together and made a perfect match.

The scene in the ward made Angeline’s eyes hurt. She looked away, stared at the thermal food jar in her hands, and laughed at herself mockingly.

They’re a family, whereas you merely accompanied Floretta for a little longer. Do you really believe your status has changed?

Feeling somewhat dejected, Angeline left the ward. She dumped the pork stew into the trash can after spotting it nearby.

In the future, I’ll heed Evander’s earlier warning and stay away from Floretta and the Goldings!

The atmosphere in the ward became less cordial after she left.

Floretta, looking aggrieved, was seated on the hospital bed, her right hand attached to an IV drip and her other hand clutching a pillow.

Evander could not do anything about her and was about to feed her when Olivine took a bowl of mushroom soup and gently reminded him, “Don’t pressure her to eat. Let me try.”

With that, she carried the bowl of soup and approached Floretta’s bed before lifting the spoon to her lips and blowing on it.

“Floretta, your body won’t have immunity if you don’t eat. I’ll take you to the amusement park when you get better, okay?” Olivine coaxed.

The aroma of the soup made Floretta, who was already hungry, brighten up.

She could not think about anything else and turned her head to take a sip of soup from the spoon in Olivine’s hand.

The latter raised her brows and smirked when she saw that.

However, the next second, Floretta spat out everything after merely tasting it.

“It tastes awful.” Her face contorted into a look of disgust, and she started crying after letting out a few whimpers. “It tastes far worse than Angel’s soup. I want to see her. Otherwise, I won’t eat.”

Olivine frowned and clenched her fists when she saw the little girl making a fuss.

This little brat! She’s embarrassing me on purpose! Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.

“Since you don’t wish to eat, you can skip dinner as well, then,” Evander said coldly, displeasure evident in his tone.

Floretta was shocked by his words, and so was Olivine.

After all, it was the first time in all the years she had known him that he had disregarded his daughter and taken her side.

Following that, she observed as Evander walked over to the hospital bed, his expression serious, and instructed in a deep voice, “You’re not allowed to see Angeline again starting today. She has already

put you in danger many times.”

It was apparent that Floretta was startled by his words as her shoulders trembled a few times and she sobbed even louder.

“Daddy, I hate you! How could you change your attitude so suddenly? I don’t want a new mommy! I only want Angel!”

While crying and whining, she grabbed the pillow and all that was within her reach on the table and threw them all on the floor.

In an instant, she had wreaked havoc on the entire ward.

Evander merely stood aside and looked on coldly with no intention of budging, allowing her to smash as she pleased.

I’ve been spoiling her far too much. It’s time I get rid of that awful temper of hers!

Just then, the nosy Olivine bent over to pick up the pillow. “Be good, Floretta. Stop smashing—”

Before she could finish speaking, Floretta grabbed a glass nearby and hurled it toward the ground. For some reason, Olivine leaned forward, and the glass shattered on her skull.

“Ow! It hurts!” Olivine cried out with a pained expression.

When Floretta heard that, she flinched and grabbed the quilt on the bed, covering her body so that only her big eyes were visible.

“I didn’t do it on purpose. It’s your fault for being nosy and picking things up, Ms. Sherrock!”

“That’s enough!” Evander snapped, looking at his daughter with a stern expression that he had never shown her before.

“Stay in the room and reflect on yourself! Look what you’ve become now. It’s time to hire a teacher to teach you proper etiquette.”

With that, he reached out and pulled Olivine up from the ground before leading her to the Neurology Department. Olivine secretly smiled with smug satisfaction.

She put most of her weight on Evander and clutched her forehead while saying feebly, “I’m fine, Evander. You shouldn’t have reprimanded Floretta so harshly just now. She’s still a child—”

“Save your breath!” he cut her off impatiently with a grim look.

Just as they reached the corner of the corridor, Evander stopped momentarily, and his eyes fell on the thermal food jar on the lid of the trash can not far away.

He could not help but take a couple more glances at the sticker with the three bears on the food jar because he thought it looked familiar.

“What are you thinking, Evander?” Olivine inquired, her eyes wide with curiosity.

“It’s nothing. Let’s go.”

Evander assumed his usual frosty expression as he led her away as if nothing had happened.

If I’m not mistaken, I recall seeing this thermal food jar in Angeline’s kitchen. Was she here this morning? Why didn’t she come in?

At that thought, Evander frowned as he recalled what he had said to Angeline the day before.

At that time, she was in a fit of rage, and my words were indeed rather harsh. She must be furious. But… it’s also good that we didn’t meet. Otherwise, Floretta will be reluctant to part with her again.

On the hospital bed, Floretta was even more furious upon realizing that throwing a tantrum was useless and seeing her father lead the person she detested the most out of the ward.

She angrily rubbed her face against the pillow she was hugging.

It seems that Daddy and Angel’s situation is already quite bad…

Floretta’s eyes lit up as she suddenly had a plan. She grabbed the phone on the bedside table, opened the Google search engine, and typed in: How to make your girlfriend happy?

Soon, a variety of answers appeared below. As Floretta could not read many words, she could only recognize one word—rose.

The doctor took Olivine for a series of brain CT scans, and the results revealed that she was fine and that the bruise on her forehead would heal with time.

She staggered out of the Neurology Department, looking as if she could fall at any second, and said weakly, “I told you that I’m fine, Evander, but you overreacted. Let’s hurry back to Floretta to prevent anything from happening again.”

“I’ll take care of Floretta. You need to rest. I’ll get Sylas to send you home,” Evander uttered in a cold, unapproachable manner.

Olivine bit her lip indignantly as she stared at his broad back. Unable to contain herself, she suggested, “Let me go to the Golding residence to take care of Floretta after she’s discharged from the hospital. That’ll eliminate the opportunity for that crafty Angeline to act. Besides, our wedding date is approaching, so it’s a good chance for us to strengthen our mother-daughter relationship.”

Evander frowned, and a touch of displeasure surfaced in his steely gaze as soon as she mentioned Angeline.

Even though I also once doubted Angeline’s motives for getting close to Floretta, I… still don’t wish to hear anyone calling her crafty.

“No need.” Evander did not hesitate to reject her. “Floretta has Francesca to take care of her.”

As he spoke, he left Sylas behind, turned, and disappeared at the end of the corridor.

Ding!

Evander’s phone chimed, alerting him to a purchase made from the bank card he had given Floretta for emergencies, but there was no indication of the source.

He did not give it much thought since the little girl typically used that card to buy toys for herself. It’s fine as long as she’s happy.
