I was so excited to put all plans into action this month, every suggestion made was valuable. This business deal will definitely be in our favour.

“Ok sir” my secretary uttered before leaving the office. Within few minutes he returned with a hot cup of coffee in a small plate.

Cappuccino has always been my favourite type of coffee, I’m usually not picky with things but I’m definitely picky when it comes to coffee.

I picked up my phone mindlessly and began to scroll through the net, not for any reason particularly. I just wanted to ease myself from all the stress.

My subconscious quickly reminded me of my meeting with Janis and my son, everytime I sit alone I begin to remember those moments, for some reason that I can’t explain.

I also collected her number and promised to give her call, I completely forgot. Although no part of me wanted to socialize and relate with Janis but I have to because of my son. If I want to spend more time or see him more it has to be through Janis. Besides, as a man I have to atleast show her some respect and speak to her irregardless of the fact that I don’t really want anything to do with her.

But what if she just ignores me and declines my call, it would seem so shameful of me to see her disregard me like that. It’s not like I meant anything to her so she might just try to push me aside.

I also made mention of taking custody of my son, that’s another reason for her to ignore and run away from me. But on the bright side she didn’t seem so repellant when we met. She was calm and collected so she might actually accept the call.

Ofcourse she would accept the call, she gave me her number willingly without hesitation so I doubt that she would decline my call. There are alot of reasons why she would cut me off and run away and there are also reasons why she wouldn’t.

She said she was looking for me when I was still an Uber driver but I don’t completely believe that. It wasn’t that difficult for my father to find me so why would it be difficult for Janis.

It wouldn’t hurt to find out so I searched for her number and called it. After four rings she picked up and kept mute.

“Hello?” I broke the silence over the phone.

“Hi. Who is this?” Janis soft voice met my ears.

I was about to lash out on her but then I remembered that I only took her number and she didn’t take mine, so my number isn’t saved on her phone. She really doesn’t know who is speaking

“It’s Jax….. Jax storms” I said coldly

“Ohh” she exclaimed and kept mute again. I couldn’t exactly read her expression because I couldn’t see her face. But I know she must have been surprised to know that I called her.

“Meet me at a restaurant by 3” I ordered.

“I’m very busy I have work to attend to” she murmured over the phone. I could tell that she was lying, she’s playing hard to get.

Would it hurt just to go to dinner with me and discuss a few things? I’m literally not asking her on a date. I guess I’ll have to ask her politely but I won’t beg, if she wants to play that hard to get game then we’ll play it together.

“It’s just to discuss a few things, please come to the restaurant by 3. I’ll send the address to you” I obliged politely.

“Uhmm….. Okay fine” she replied.

“See you by 6” I replied before hanging up the call. I was satisfied with her reply mainly because it would be quite strange to watch her reject my offer, I wasn’t excited but atleast I was happy to hear her accept.

I typed out the address and sent it to her via sms.

I’ll have to go home and get dressed for the meeting, I don’t want to be late, I hate been late to meetings especially meetings organized by me. If I go there late it doesn’t speak well of me.

So I hurriedly picked up my personal belongings and sauntered out of the office, on my way out i met my secretary.

“I’ll be back by evening, I’m going out for lunch” I informed him before finally leaving the office.

This dinner is nothing more than a meeting, it’s not a date, all we are going to do is strictly discuss about what we would do next for our son.

I can’t run away from the fact that she is Jerome’s mother, but if she tries to play cards and act smart with me then I’ll have to take Jerome by force. I’ll take her to court and there’ll be no turning back.

I got into my car, ignited the engine and exited the company’s premises. Within few minutes I got to the restaurant and waited for more than thirty minutes, it was already past 3.

My eyes caught sight of a familiar lady walking majestically towards my direction, from a long distance I could easily discern who was walking so elegantly. I veered my eyes up and met the likes Janis. Her short stretchy gold gown revealed 70% of her thighs. I couldn’t help but notice how much flesh she had and how gracefully she sauntered.

Her beautiful gown brought out her shape. I didn’t have much time to fully examine how beautiful she was this morning. When I saw my son he took all of my attention.

Janis seemed very lost and confused, she quietly examined the restaurant before moving further. She was obviously looking for me, by the looks of it she took time prepare herself for the lunch meeting.

When she found me sited alone at a reserved spot in the restaurant, her lips curved out a smile and her mood brightened up. Her eyes began to sparkle with delight as she continued to walk towards me.

Immediately she arrived at the table I stood up and gave my hand for a handshake. “Miss Janis welcome” I morphed out a smile and greeted politely.

She reciprocated the energy and sat at the seat opposite me. From the way she walks to the way she talks, she is effortlessly graceful. Her voice is always calm and soft, I couldn’t help but notice the beautiful necklace she had on.

Everything on her was oozing pure beauty.

A waiter approached Jax and Janis, bowed and submitted a menu for them at the table, Jax took glances at the menu before proceeding to give his orders.

“Get us Lobster and some pasta, I think that would do and also…” he continued to give orders.

Janis couldn’t detach her eyes from Jax’s features, she still found it quite difficult to phantom how he turned from a less privileged Uber driver to a wealthy billionaire in the space of two years, what exactly did he do to get to where he is today. His hair, his face, the way he speaks, everything about him has completely changed.

Now he speaks with so much authority in his voice, when he was an Uber driver he was so timid but all that changed when he became wealthy, but how?

The young waiter scribbled the order on a piece of paper whilst giving Janis amorous glares. she wasn’t sure why he gave those looks but he made it even more obvious.

He kept his gaze on her and scanned her from head to toe. “And what would a beautiful lady like you want for lunch, you deserve a beautiful lunch” the waiter turned to Janis with beaming smiles.

She chuckled and glanced at a mystified Jax, he sat quietly waiting for what would happen next.

“Sorry to disappoint you I’m not like all those ladies you can expressly flirt with. I am a married woman with two kids” She smiled and raised her ring for the waiter to see that she was already married.

“I’m so sorry ma, I didn’t realize” The waiter apologized and rushed back to the restaurant kitchen. She just don’t get why that waiter thought she was some free lonely woman desperately looking for a lover.

He seemed so confident in flirting. Jax was still very much confused, he kept staring at Janis like he had seen something unreal.

He expected something more loud, arrogant, verbal and full of insults but reverse was the case.

He thought she would stand up and yell at the waiter for thinking she is cheap or something, he thought she would call her name and remind the younger waiter of her status in the community.

He was more confused to hear her say she was married with two kids because the last time he checked, she had only one child and she wasn’t married so where is the ring coming from? Curiosity continued to bubble up inside him as he continuously wondered.

Was she really that secretive? Nobody knew her marital status not even Jax. If she was getting married the least she would have done was to tell Jax.

Something was quite off, the Walters he met wouldn’t take that from a common waiter, The Janis I know, that flaunted her wealth at my face years ago would have landed on the waiter’s face a resounding slap or called the manager on the young man.

“Are you really married” Jax questioned Janis curiously.

“I’m not” Janis replied with a warm smile, for some unknown reason she presented herself in such a calm demeanor.

“Then…..?” he only completed the question with his eyes focused on the ring in her finger.

“This?” She raised up the ring in my finger and chuckled again.

“I just use it to scare unwanted people away, people who just see me and decide to flirt. I don’t want any relationship whatsoever with anyone right now” she added. Jax nodded quietly. No part of him wanted a relationship with Janis so he wasn’t bothered if she was avoiding relationship or not.

Besides the lunch meeting wasn’t to initiate any relationship, it was strictly for the wellbeing of Jerome. Irrespective of the fact that it was held in a restaurant like a romantic date. It was nothing like a date to Jax.

Soon the waiter arrived with their dinner and left them, Janis couldn’t help but notice how embarrassed he look. He dropped the trays of food hurriedly and went away without raising his head to look at Janis.

Sometimes calm reminder is enough to get people afraid and embarrassed after flirting with you, Janis was happy that her plan to chase the waiter worked.
