Moving On
Rita’s POV
I decided to check up on Zane one more time ~ for friendship sake. And to my greatest suprise, I realised that his phone number doesn’t exist anymore.
I quickly click on Kikachat, his account was still closed, therefore sending him a text proved abortive.
Now this got me really perturbed. What’s going on with Zane?
An idea suddenly niggled at me, I should ask Janet Johnson, she’s probably aware of whereabout.
“Hello Janet Johnson” I texted.
As usual, she responded immediately like an AI Robot: “Hi Rita, how was your day?”
“My day was great Janet”
“How may I help you today?”
“I lost contact with Zane. I haven’t been able to reach him and it’s been ages I heard from him”
She didn’t reply, so I sent another text.
” Zane’s account is closed down and his phone number doesn’t exist anymore”
“Yeah” Was all Janet Johnson said.
“What happened?” I probed further.
“You should move on with your life now Rita, Zane is gone. I’m sorry things didn’t work out between both of you, it’s my fault” She sent.
“What do you mean by Zane is gone? Did I do something wrong?” I questioned, biting my finger tip as I anticipated her response.
“No dear, you didn’t do anything wrong. Zane has done something terrible but his secrets are rather safe with me. You and Zane cannot work, he’s gone forever. Zane told me to tell you to move on with your life and totally forget about him” I read her text.
“But, you just informed me because I asked” I retorted.
“Accept my apology. I am also a terrible person for introducing you to Zane. I’m sorry” She apologised but I snubbed her message.
“Do you mind if I find you another match?” She sent another message.
I mocked her “No, you have failed as a matchmaker. Your matchmaking skill was supposed to be 100% fated and accurate” I deliberately sounded a bit rude. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
“I’m so sorry once again”
“Anyways, I’m never gonna try online relationship again. I wish Zane good luck wherever he is. I moved on already” I informed Janet Johnson.
“Wow! You did?”
I don’t know why I felt she should know about Finn. Maybe because she is the love doctor and I might need her assistance in the nearest future, ~ in my marriage.
“His name is Finn, I love him to the moon and back. It’s my first time dating a physical guy and I already have a feeling that it’s gonna last forever and ever” I told her.
“I wish you everything you wish for in your relationship ”
“Thank you so much Janet Johnson” I closed the chat and exhaled heavily.
Now it’s time to have a sweet night rest.
*****
We thought we have seen the last of Vanessa but unknowingly to us, this was only the beginning.
I met Vanessa right at the entrance as soon as I arrived at the office the following day. For peace’s sake, I tried to ignore her but she obstructed my way just when I wanted pass hy her.
“Hello! My boyfriend’s girlfriend” She said aloud, getting the attention of the few people around.
What the fuck was that?
“Oops, pardon me dear. They don’t know” She mouthed and laughed hysterically.
“Good morning Vanessa” I crossed my arms.
“Wow! You remember my name even when we didn’t get to introduce ourselves better. I hope we’ll get along Rita” She acted nice but in a ridiculous way.
“We shall see” I mumbled then hurriedly headed to Finn’s office.
He hasn’t arrived yet, oh! I see why Vanessa was busy hanging around the office periphery, joblessly.
I caught Charles sitting and manspreading on Finn’s seat, feeling like the chairman as he slowly drove the mesh seat round and hummed to the soft music playing from the radio.
I was about to walk away without him noticing but the door cracking sound caught his attention. Not again! He saw me!
“Hey there, good morning Rita” Charles sprung on his feet immediately and walked up to me.
“Good morning to you too” I murmured.
“Nevermind, I didn’t see you over there, playing with Finn’s stuff. I’m not gonna report you to him” I turned to leave.
He giggled:” I actually don’t care” He smirked.
“Okay, bye”
He pulled me, making me turn around and face him properly.
“Did you uhm.. think about what I told you the last time?” He asked.
I knew what he was up to and that’s why I intended to leave immediately.
“We will discuss about that later Charles”
“Later might be too late” He said.
I looked at him in a confused way. “Later” I repeated and left the office quickly.
I met Vanessa again at the passage way, she probably followed me or was eavesdropping. I snubbed her because I was not interested in exchanging words with her nor being friends with my boyfriend’s ex.
Speaking of Finn, he emerged into the passage way that led to his office.
“Finn!” Vanessa and I called out at the same time and it was really awkward. It was more like two girls were fighting over a guy.
“What are you doing here again Vanessa?” Finn raised his voice.
“Nevermind” He sighed in distress and suddenly acted like he didn’t see her.
Then he walked towards me.
“We are going out today” He interlocked arms with me.
“Really babe?” At least, I wanted to utter something to make Vanessa jealous.
“Finn! How dare you ignore me? We are meant to spend this whole week together and see where love leads us to then you proceed to sign the goddamn contract, so we can get married”
Finn hissed: “I told you before and I’ll repeat it again incase you thought I was kidding. We are never ever getting married and I will not sign that contract!!” He snapped at her.
“Let’s go sweetheart” Finn turned to me, put on a pretty smile like Vanessa was a nobody to ruin his mood.
We walked out of the company together while people glared at us in awe. We have just confirmed that their rumour about us is true.
